For a full blown tournament in St. Louis, MO in '07. Too much on my plate this year, so I'm starting my organization in anticipation of running one next year. To help me out, I'm doing my research I wouldn't mind knowing:
1) time period you would likely be able to make it (not a commitment, just whether spring/summer/fall/winter would be better)
2) what do you want to see in a tournament---what makes you want
to go:
a) the people who will be there (friends)
b) the prizes
c) chance to play, get out of the house, leave the drudgery of life
and travel
d) unique tourney structure
e) other
3) what unique feature would you like to see at a tourney that you haven't come across before
4) LRB 4.0 or Vault
a) Will your decision NOT to attend depend largely on rule set?
I can go on, but this hopefully gets the dialogue running to allow me to shape my ideas based on what most tourney goers prefer. My plan is to run a 2 day, NAF-sanctioned, swiss style tourney that adds something different to the scene--i.e., isn't a carbon copy of others, and is NOT going to compete with tourneys such as Gencon, Zlurpee, Chaos Cup, Death Bowl, etc. I need to attend some of 'em.
Also, while I'm at it, anyone who might be interested in helping me out with certain facets ( i.e. I need web page designer--I'm clueless ), please PM or email me. I have a pretty good idea on theme and etc., I just need a little help on that end. |

If the summer May would be best for me, other wise Fall September looks good.

The people most of all. But a two day tourney that close to me should see me show up. Pending any schedule conflict.

I wouldn't mind playing in a tournament with Ken's suggestion on TBB, that had all skills taken up front.

In '07 I'd probably prefer it be Vault, but whatever the ruleset I will try and be there.

I'll see you at the Zlurpee Bowl then.

sweet. Thnks, X. may take you up on the offer.
I have to start looking for a venue in the next couple of months (once this house business starts to settle down). Once that's settled, I can pick a time/date and flesh out the rest, and hopefully start putting a web site together.
May/June is the time period I was really starting to look at, it's before Gencon, DB and seems to be sort of at the beginning of the travel schedule.

don't worry, if it works out, there'll be plenty of room for out of town guests when the tourney hits. And a back yard big enough for a bbq. |
