I noticed that even in the new PBBL rules the old "standard Undead" team is still around.
What is the reason this has not been phased out in favor of the now separate undead teams (khemri and necromantic)?
Is it because GW still sells them as box set? |

I hope that you are not suggesting that GW does things just because it can make a profit for them! We all know that they are a benevolent society of gaming geeks like ourselves, with only the best interest of us players in mind. All their efforts are devoted towards creating a better game and gaming environment while they make a marginal profit - barely enough to pay their overhead. They live only to serve the greater gaming good.
Ya right! |

Anyone who has been around GW games long enough understands they make decisions for one purpose, to make money. I only had hoped that for specialist games that are somewhat "run by the people" they would not be as corporate minded. It's really bad when the fluff/background says the undead team should no longer be around "as is" which is why they created new ones, but yet they keep it around for more profit.
But then I remember when they sold the BB teams in the big boxes with a picture of the team for $30 then put it in a smaller box with no picture and then charged $45....for the same models!
Oh well.....there's always ebay! |

I personally like my old school undead team... It was the first team I bought, The first team I painted (however poorly) and as I still have my 5th edition Undead WFB army (complete with Nagash, skullchuckas and chariots) I would hate to watch my favorite Blood Bowl team go away as well.
There's something to be said for history, even of games.
Change the rules if you must, (Mummies w/out Gen Access), but don't agitate to dissolve the team entirely! |

They were my first team in 3rd edtion too! I loved having 4 ghouls run around and steal the show each game!
I just don't believe they are still around for nostalgic value. They seem out of place now with the other undead teams. Just my opinion.
If down the road, they made a Chaos Beastman team offical and a Chaos Warrior team offical, I would not expect to see the basic Chaos Team still around either. |

Belive it. The only reason we have the Undead and Highelf rosters is because of the outraged coaches of those teams who didn't want to switch to Necro or Pro Elf teams. |

Wow. Then I'm surprised and pleased at keeping them around if that is the reason. |

You can count me among the outraged....
<edited because of enter key mishap>
I've been playing since there were only 2 ghouls allowed on the undead roster, the "real" 3e, not LRB 3.0. I was there when 4e, which should never have occurred, was released. I witnessed the horror of the rules which should not be unleashed upon my favorite game of all time. I have a full deck of special play cards, magic items, and dirty tricks... including old favorites like "popped ball" and "trampoline trap".
Kill off the undead roster? I've suffered too much because of this game to stomach that insult!
P.S. I also play High Elves... |

It's true. Galak has said several times that if he had his way the Undead and High elves would be gonzo. Player outrage quickly made it clear that that would not be accepted though.
I'ts pretty clear... you can add new teams but deleting old ones is a big no-no
I'm mostly happy with it anyway, with the changes to the elf rosters there are now 4 distinct elf teams and no reason to delete any of them. The undead do seem a bit out of place though... I would much rather play the more interesting Necro team. |

Perhaps then the best course is to rework the undead and highelf teams to make them stand out more as a different team. Course I wouldn't mind reworking all the team stats so that they all have distinct styles of play. A few do but a lot of them are almost carbons copies. |

I played Amazons to start, moved to High Elfs..
Moved to Dark Elfs and then back to High Elfs...
Recently tried Undead on FUMMBL and now I want to try an Undead Team. GW needs to keep them around for another year or so... Sooooooo, I can play them in a League. |

Undead certainly arnt to be scoffed at, first team i started playing and finaly found out that were wolves can score just as well as ghouls...not to mention the hilarity of watching a group of zombies fumble the ball towards the end zone... |
