While all the details have yet to be nailed down, we have confirmed July 6 and 7 for our (now) annual tournament, PowTown!

We decided to hold the event during Stampede this year to give people more of a reason to come and play in our Event Smile Stay for an extra day or two and take in all the city has to offer!

I'll be posting more details in the coming weeks, but it's safe for everyone to start thinking about making it to Calgary for some epic Blood Bowl action!

We are just finishing up our rules pack for this year, but that doesn't mean we can't start beating the war drums early!

So far, it is looking like it'll be the same format as last year but with bonus skills on day 2. 1.1M build, star players, 6/4+1/2+2 skill packages for day one, etc.

BC folks... you guys coming? Very Happy Sounds like we've got some Edmonton folk on the way down and I've posted on the Winnipeg BB forum as well...

Wonder if we all need to bring our swimsuits and floating beer devices after the floods down there. Do we get to play in Heavy Rain for the first two games or so? Rolling Eyes

Damn I'm bummed to miss it. I'm so low on the seniority at work that I'm forced to work weekends, and for vacation picks the months of June-August are pretty much off limits for now. Hopefully somebody retires soon!

Have fun this weekend guys and looking forward to hearing about the results! Very Happy
Craig.

I'll post full results later, but here's a quick update for now!

Due to last minute bailouts from some of my league members (who will be drawn and quartered), we had 10 coaches competing for the 2nd Annual PowTown Championship! We decided, as a group, that with so few players and so many rounds, it would be better to play 5 rounds swiss and then pair off the top 2 teams for the finals and the top 2 stunty teams for the Stunty Cup. Remember this point, as this will be important near the end of the story.

Day 1 was pretty interesting. We paired off the Edmonton folks with Calgary folks to try and make sure that everyone got to meet someone new early on. After 2 rounds, the Undead team from Calgary was the only team with a 2-0 record, while a handful of teams were 1 + 1 tie. I don't remember who was leading at the end of day 3, but it was pretty close overall as there were no 3-0 teams at this point in the tournament. My team, Git 'er Dug (Necro) was 2W 0L 1T, but had a low TD/CAS score, so I was the low man out of the top teams.

Day 2 allowed teams to add 2 additional skills to their roster which made for some interesting discussions as people were trying to figure out who their potential opponents would be. The top 4 teams were myself (Necro), Tim (Undead, was perfect after round 2), Josh (Skaven, 2W 1L after day 1) and Sean (Orc, 2W 1T after day 1 - tied me in round 2). After the Skaven beat the Orcs in round 4, there was pretty much a 3 way tie when it came to who could make the finals with ease: Myself (3W 1T, but poor TD/CAS), Josh (3W 1L) and Sean (2W 1T 1L). Sean would likely need to win his match and the winner from me vs Josh would surely make the final as the top ranked player. Sean won his match with ease and Josh and I faught to a ridiculous 2-2 tie in which I either needed the win or +3 CAS to sneak into the finals (I had 9 armor breaks in 3 turns in the 2nd half with 8 stuns and a KO).

Sean vs Josh in the finals, but this time the game would end tied and Sean would win the cup based on his overall score in the tournament!

I won my 6th round game, giving me a record of 4-0-2 and the *best overall score and record* but I ended up finishing 3rd! Sean and Josh both had records of 3-1-2, but deserved their spot in the finals thanks to flashy play and brutal casualty numbers all tournament.

Damion (edmonton, last year's winner) won best sportsman
Rob (calgary, last year's stunty cup winner) won Stunty Cup
I won Most TDs
Dave (Edmonton) won most CAS
Zac (Calgary) won the wooden spoon

Awesome. Sounds like you guys had a big Alberta showdown. No surprise with Damion winning Best Sportsmanship - that guy's a great loser. Very Happy Wink Dave winning casualties is a shock though - I guess he didn't play Skaven or Goblins then.

Thanks for the updates!
Gj.
