VOODOO - Open Tournament Series
Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, & Tennessee
January 1, 2020 through December 31st, 2020
The Voodoo Tournament Series will have its third year in 2020 as an Open Tournament Series. Any Blood Bowl tournaments run in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee will be eligible for points as long as they follow the rules outlined within and any coaches who are registered NAF coaches will be able to participate. If you join the NAF during one of the tournaments, you can accumulate points moving forward and cannot have points retroactively added if you join the NAF at a later date.
The Voodoo Tournament Series is sanctioned and sponsored by the NAF. Any disputes or clarifications
will be handled by the NAF’s Tournament Series Administrator, a position currently held by
Claudio Fernandez Arbes / NAF Caio.
Tournament Series Type: Open
Tournament Series Organizer: Jason York / NAF AlMightyPePe22
Tournament Series Collaborator: John Alberto / NAF AlphaWolf
RULES
• All Approved Tournaments in 2020 will count for Voodoo Tournament Points
~ Tournament Organizers wishing to participate must do the following:
~ Contact the 2020 TSO (Jason York) with their intentions 2 months prior to their tournament date. All tournaments must be submitted a MINIMUM of 2 months in advance or it will not be eligible for any VOODOO tournament points.
~ Provide the 2020 TSO (Jason York) with the results (NAF name and team type used) within 14 days of the tournaments conclusion. Results that are not submitted within that window may be waived.
• Each tournament run under the Voodoo Tournament Series will carry a $10.00 donation, which will go towards a prize/trophy pool. This is NOT mandatory but any TO that participates will help to make the Tournament Series a more rewarding experience for the coaches who participate.
• In 2020, The VOODOO Tournament Series will have four events classified as Premier Events. Premier Events will have a slightly different point structure than regular events (outlined below). For 2020, the Premier Events are:
~ Nuffle’s Wyld 3 in Melbourne, FL in April.
~ Cinco de Mayo Madness 2 in Atlanta, GA in May.
~ Great Smokey Mountain Bowl 3 in Tennessee in June.
~ Ancient City Barrel Bash 3 in St. Augustine, FL in November.
• Coaches will receive the following points for each tournament they take part in:
~ +10 to +1 points for top 10 placement, on a declining scale. In other words, a 1st-place finish would be worth 10 points, a 2nd-place finish would be worth 9 points, on down to a 10th- place finish being worth 1 point.
~ Should there be fewer than 10 coaches (it happens!), the top coach's score would be equal to the
total number of participants, the rest would decline as usual.
~ Tournament Champion receives +1 point
~ +1 point per 5 places below them in the standings. (Examples: A coach finishing 1st in a 32-
coach tournament would receive a bonus of +6 because there are 30+ coaches below them. A coach finishing 1st in an 11-coach tournament would receive a bonus of +2 because there are 10 coaches below them. A coach finishing first in a 10-coach tournament would receive a bonus of +1 because there are only 9 coaches below them.)
~ +1 point per day of the tournament. Given to all participants.
~ Organizer bonus: +1 point for organizing the tournament, and an additional +1 point per 10 coaches in the tournament (only for organizers who do not play in their own event. Organizers also get the participating bonus above.)
• Coaches will receive 1 point for each 50 miles traveled beyond the first 25 miles to an event to encourage travel to other tournaments abroad. *Max 10 points for the entire tournament series* This is separate from points earned at an event.
• For a Premier Bowl Event, the following changes are made to the above point structure:
~ +15 to +1 points for top 15 placement, on a declining scale. In other words, a 1st-place finish would be worth 15 points, a 2nd-place finish would be worth 14 points, on down to a 15th- place finish being worth 1 point.
~ Should there be fewer than 15 coaches, the top coach's score would be equal to the
total number of participants, the rest would decline as usual.
~ +2 points per day of the tournament. Given to all participants.
• Only a coach’s Top 10 scores will count for determining overall standings
• In addition to the main table, a separate table will be maintained for points accrued with Stunty teams. Points will be awarded in the same way, but only those tournaments played with Stunty teams will count.
• For the purpose of this series, Stunty teams will be defined as Goblins per LRB, Halflings per LRB, Ogres per LRB, Lizardmen with 0-16 Skinks, 0-1 Kroxigor, and Underworld limited to 0-16 Goblins, 0-1 Troll. Organizers can still set their own standards for their individual tournaments' Stunty Cup (for example: Ogre teams limited to 0-3 ogres, "all skeletons" as an added list), but only the rosters above will generate tournament points toward the Stunty award.
• Tiebreakers will be: Most First Place Finishes, followed by Most Second Place Finishes. If scores are still tied, the prize will go to the coach who used the most different team types during the series. If there is still a tie, random determination (coin toss or die roll) will be used. |

This post has been drawn to my attention recently, as I run the GLAM tournament series.
I am always looking for new/innovative ways to improve the tournament series and there's some very interesting concepts here. Thank you very much for sharing!
I think that for next year, the GLAM may borrow a few concepts and work it into our tournament series.
Much appreciated! |
