Background

The London Tournament Series is finally here. Coaches will compete to be recognised as the best player in London.

To achieve this high honour they will need to achieve the best score over a number of different tournaments. The series will include events which are within London (broadly the M25) and the immediate commuter towns that can be reached within 30 minutes on the trains from central London terminals.

Events

The London series is a closed event (no more tournaments will be added for 2025 after the commencement of the year) and is expected to comprise the following events (which will all be submitted for NAF approval before the end of 2024).

January 11th Superbowl (Central London) - Tom L TO
February 22nd Wycombe Warpbowl (High Wycombe) - Thomas TO
March TBC Double Bangers, Pairs event (Shoreditch, Central London) Jim TO
April TBC [Race to the Finish, Sevens tournament (Ye Olde Cock Tavern, Central London) Adam TO
May TBC Dat Backbreaker (VII), Legendary (Finsbury Park, Central London) Jim TO
June Pearlies (two day event - central London) Rob W TO
July TBC Condiment Cup (Central London) - Rob M TO
August - We’re all going on our summer holiday, no event this month
September Doughty Bloomin Littluns (3 game one day with rules that favour stunties) Jim TO
October Troll Trader Tourney (Bromley) - Chris W TO
November - Borak Bowl (Central London) Tom L TO
December - BBALL Cup - 4 person team event (Central London) Jim and Tom L TO

These events will all be designed to:

• Be within the region (see above)
• Have capacity for at least 24 coaches
• Minimum 2 week gap between events
• Must be NAF approved events
• Commit to providing results to the TSO within 1 week of the event finishing.

The London Tourney is run over a calender year.

The London series organisers are drawn from the BBALL (the BloodBowl Association of London Leagues) and include:

Coach Requirements, Prizes and Basis of Scoring

To be included within the London Tourney Series you must be a NAF member regardless of any tournament requirements.

Prizes are provided by NAF and there will be a prize for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and a Stunty Cup.

To be included in the rankings for the London series a coach must compete in a minimum of five events.

Only a coach's top three scores will count towards a coach's final standings no matter how many events they attend. For the stunty cup you must compete in at least two events using a stunty team and your top two scores will count.

Individual scoring

Coaches receive the following points from each tournament.

+10 to +1 points for top 10 placement, on a declining scale. In other words, a 1st place finish is worth 10 points, a 2nd place finish is worth 9 points and so on, down to a 10th place finish being worth 1 point.

Should there be fewer than 10 coaches (it happens!), the maximum score is equal to the total number of participants, declining as usual. That means winning a tournament with 6 participants results in 6 points for 1st place, 5 points for 2nd place, and so on.

+1 point per full 10 places below them in the standings capped at a maximum of 5. Examples: A coach finishing 1st in a 32-coach tournament receives a bonus of +3 because there are 30+ coaches below. Finishing 13th in the very same tournament gives 1 bonus point, as there are 19 coaches below. A coach finishing first in a 10-coach tournament receives no bonus as there are only 9 coaches below.

+1 point for a two-day of the tournament. Given to all scoring participants.

Coaches receive 0.1 points for each tournament they participate in. This score is taken in whole and is not reduced to "best 3" as with other scores. So, someone who participated in 9 tournaments might have a total score of 30.9.

Tiebreakers

Total number of Series Tournament Champion wins (1st place finishes);
4th highest Tournament score; and
then 5th, 6th etc until a winner is determined, and in the unlikely event required …
