Midlands Tournament Series 2025

Background

The Midlands Tournament Series (MTS) will be back for 2025.

A tournament series is a competition where coaches compete to achieve the best score over a number of different tournaments.

The Midlands series will include events which are within the geographic East and West Midlands areas which includes the following counties:
Derbyshire, Herefordshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Nottinghamshire, Rutland, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire.

The MTS is an open event we have identified some initial events to fill out the calendar but the MTS organising committee are seeking additional events to provide as far as possible a good geographical and calendar spread across the midlands area.

If you are a TO who would like to be included within the MTS please contact the organising committee please note it will not be possible to include all events. Any events accepted into the MTS will be approved on a first come first served basis, based on the date of NAF approval. Any event included in the MTS must:

• Within the Midlands region, see above.
• Have capacity for at least 24 coaches
• 11s single tournaments only i.e. no team or sevens tournaments
• Singles tournaments only – no team events
• Only one tournament per weekend.
• The NAF Championship will not be included.
• Must be NAF approved at time of inclusion
• Must inform TSO (Dodge22) of their desire to be included in the series at least 2 months before the event
• No new events will be accepted within 3 months of the series end date
• Commit to providing results to the TSO within 1 week of the event finishing.

The MTS 2025 is run from the 1st January 2025 to 31st December 2025.

The MTS organising committee are: Dodge22 (Tournament Series Organiser), Danny, Deeferdan and LittleYoshi1979. The best place to find out about the MTS is the Midlands BloodBowl discord or facebook group.

The Events

The MTS will consist of between 6 and 15 events per year. To be included in the rankings for the MTS a coach must compete in a minimum or three events.

Only a coach's top 3 scores will count towards a coach's final standings no matter how many events they attend. For the stunty cup you must compete in at least two events using a stunty team and your top two scores will count.

22 February - Critter Bash 3 - gitgrinder

1/2 March - UKBBL TT XXI - GColeman76

29 March - Dodge Bowl II - Dodge22

14 September - A Star is Born II - Dodge 22

25 October - Strangle Bowl - Danny

Coach Requirements, Prizes and Scoring

To be included within the MTS you must be a NAF member regardless of any tournament requirements.

Prizes are provided by NAF and there will be a prize for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Stunty Cup.

Coaches receive the following points based on their ranking:

Points will be awarded with the 1st placed coach receiving 15 points or the number of entrants in the event, whichever is lower. Each place below this gets 1 point less (e.g. 2nd place 14 points, 3rd place 13 points) down to 15th place.

There is an additional point for every 10 coaches below you (i.e. in larger tournaments you will get additional points for a top 10 finish, and lower placings will also receive points). These additional points are capped at 5, making the maximum score achievable in any one event 20 points.
Note: Whatever tiebreakers are used in each event will determine the final finishing position used to calculate points awarded.

For all events, after the points have been calculated a multiplier of 1.x will be applied to scores where x is the number of games in the tournament. A 3 game tournament will have a multiple of 1.3, a 6 game tournament will have a multiplier of 1.6 and so on.

As an example, someone finishes 3rd out of 26 in a 3 game tournament. Their score would be 13 points for the third place finish, with an additional 2 points for there being 23 coaches below them. These 15 points are then multiplied by 1.3, giving a score of 19.5 points.

Tiebreakers

To differentiate between coaches on the same number of points, the following tiebreakers will be used:

Number of tournaments won
Best score
Second best score
Third best score
Total tournaments attended
Coin toss
