Here are a few advices to the development of a skaven team.

Of course you should start with at least 1 Thrower and 1 gutter runner.

I like to start with two stormvermins, and a rat ogre, I know that it might not be a wise thing to do, but If you are in a league with new teams the Rat ogre is good, due to the fact that few other players have block.

But what I will do in this is to tell which skills to get.

Throwers: They really need a few skills, as Block, dump off, accurate.
I give one of them block, first, the other gets accurate. The key to those players is to get them to make one comp pr turn you have the ball under control.

Gutter runners:
Block side step, pass block... for one of them
Sure feet, sprint, leap, catch for the other
Pass block, catch, block for the thrid.
Block, sprint, catch, for the 4th.

The storm vermins
GUARD and tackle as the 2 fist skill You´ll need the guard, trust me

Line rat... ah the back of the horde

Block, for procetion, tackel to get those pointy ears pigs down, kick to make a nice kcik off, and dirty player to clear the pitch for the chaos and orc players.

the real strenght of the skavens are however the mutattions.

Claw, rips through the av
Fangs, make those hits count.
Lon lege, so nice for those gutter runners
Thick skull and spikes for the storm vermins, makes them as though as dwarfs.
Horns, it give you the advantage while blitzing.
Extra arm, not so nice since it can not give you a bonus for interception (go figure why)
Extra head, are you doding a lot? Then do it with your gutter runnes, they do not need the extra head.

Prehensile tail, so nice with tackle, and if your gutter runner next to this player has diving tackle... then go dodge, with -3.

Tentacles, used to be more efficient (mayby too much) but can still be nice to slow down a team.

Proctection of the rats
Block down the opponents, and hit them while they are down.
Run from one side of the field to the other with your players 7 in ma, is a LOT!
Sacrifie a line rat or two for the big guys.

The best combo in the game is a Gutter Runner with Dauntless & Horns.

Even without them they can become awesome blitzers with Strip Ball and leap. If you get a +MA then develop them as a 1 turn wonder. If you get a normal skill first, always take Block.

Line rats - give 1 kick. Kick deep and flood the backfield. Give another one or two dirty player and the rest block.

Storm Vermin - have 2 paths. One is to use them as blitzers - so tackle & strip ball are key skills. The other way is as a basher - Guard & Mighty. Blow. Their superior armour means they are better equipped to get hit than your line rats.

Rat Ogres - dangerous to both teams. Don't let him get swarmed. Give him Piling On. Block & Pro. Doubles should probably go on Razor Sharp Fangs.

No, I'm pretty sure the best combo in the game is Dirty Player and Get the Ref Wink

Sure, but you can not base your games on getting the right handicap roll to every game. Smile

If I was running rats for a league, I would most definitely put in a rat ogre. And when I run them for tournaments....I would never even consider it. The last thing you need when your sidestepping gutter runner is two steps from the endzone is to have the other team swarm your rat ogre. In a league they can help negate other team's strength advantage, in a tourney I run away from people with a strength advantage. Simple, no? Wink
