Tournament Report
On a chilly but bright Saturday morning 26 coaches braved Andover and arrived for the second ARBBL Pick'n'Mix. Due to lack of confirmations the 3-coach team aspect had been unfortunately dropped, but the each coach was still required to bring two different rosters, one for the Saturday, one for the Sunday as they strived for individual glory.

The rules meant some of the lesser-used rosters were in abundance, with the top used race being Underworld (6), followed by Chaos (5) then Pact, Elf Halfling and Human (with 4 teams each). It also mean that some of the more popular races weren't being used, with no Amazon, Dwarf, High Elf, Necro, Norse or Undead teams being used. Even Lizardmen were only represented by the Stunty version of the roster, all the Saurus taking the weekend off.

Round 1 was drawn so that no-one would have to face someone from their respective club, but after that it would be as drawn.

There followed a day of joy and pain in equal measure, with some tables making so much noise it made it difficult to see who was suffering what. I had to play, so didn't get to wander or take as many pics as I wanted, though I did have time to lose two games! By the end of day 1 Besters lead the way, with 3 wins with his all-conquering Halflings, just ahead of Lunchmoney's Khemri.

Day 2 dawned bright again, but not so cold. Looshkin managed to eventually arrive to take my place, and was rewarded by being thrashed 6-0 by Hawk's humans (moral of the story - don't keep Hawk waiting!) so I got to wander round and look at the games more the second day, and shout at the slow coaches (one game going nearly 3 hours, being finished just before I had to call it for the next round). Highlights included Tempest having her poor Skinks tabled by cantaloup's Chaos team, and Firebreather deciding in two games it was more sporting of him to remove his own thralls from the field by biting them that his opponents players risking their knuckles.

I kept the scores, TDs and Cas a secret during dy 2, so no-one was sure on exactly where they were in the table, nor how close they were to the prizes, despite the many requests I got to be told.

Besters was most peoples favourite for the title, as he was taking Wood Elfs for day 2, but a defeat to Itchen's Vampires in round 5 put a bit of doubt into peoples head. I didn't see much of the game, but Itchen says he won it because an extremely unfortunate 1-reroll-1 from Besters, a roll that would ultimately prove costly.

Going into the final round there were 5 coaches that could still win the title if results went their way. The top two both won, so it was going to come down to the wire.

In the end, Itchen, the only undefeated coach won from Besters by a single point, although Besters decided to win the Stunty Cup instead of taking the official runners-up spot (ARBBL rules is that a coach can only win one award - we like to share the love!) Most TDs was won by Radster on TD difference from TheyreDeadDave and Most Cas was taken by NorthernKnight.

With the awards handed out, and the tables packed away, it was just left to thank all the coaches for attending and the ARBBL lads for the setting up, the obligatory goodbyes to friends I don't see often enough, and then the coaches disappeared into the dark with the stories of what might have been, and the promises of "never again".

So many thanks to the other 26 coaches who attended and a big shout-out to Tritex Games for the prize support. The Pick'n'Mix is taking a break next year due to the World Cup, but will hopefully be back in 2017, maybe with the team element, maybe not.

Hope to see some of you at the ARBBL Open 2015.
