History
Long has television been obsessed with cooking shows. Originally in the domain of public access, the advent of food-themed stations brought these delectable delights onto the national stage. Then with the explosion of reality television, foodies everywhere could root for their favorite chefs in a competition that crowned the world's best chef, or at least the one who barked the loudest.
What these shows all lacked though was the ability to tap into the biggest foodies of them all - Halflings! Eating 6 or 8 meals a day and the ability to get into all the nooks and crannies of nature to harvest the best of ingredients, the Halflings are a natural demographic for food reality shows. Couple that with the Halfling whimsical love of games and the Bash Zone Network hired famed producer Eggie Steambucket to present The Halfling Master Bowl - A Blood Bowl Tournament!

What Each Coach Must Bring
• Your Painted Team
• A Blood Bowl Board (custom to standard specs or from the board game itself), dugouts, and templates.
• Four printed copies of your team roster, using the Little Army Designer, found at http://www.littlearmydesigner.com/bb/en#1.
• Good sportsmanship

Rules and Roster Creation
Rulebooks
The documents that outline the rules for the Halfling Master Bowl are the new BB2016 rules released by Games Workshop. These rules are encompassed by the following documents:
The rules in the Games Workshop box set (the Official Rules)
• Deathzone Seasons 1 and 2
• All Spike! Journals released before the tournament will be allowed, including star players and other inducements
• The following documents from www.bloodbowl.com
o Teams of Legend (ToL)
o The Errata (ERR)
o The FAQ (FAQ)
In addition, the following NAF-sponsored changes will be applied to the rule set:
• All 23 teams plus Slann, Khorne and Bretonnians rosters will be allowed
• All CRP/LRB6 star players will be allowed in addition to the ones that were released in the official documents for BB2016, Death Zone 1 and 2, the Blood Bowl Almanac and all Spike journals released by June 30th. Golden Era stars (Jeremiah Kool) are allowed.
• Special play cards will NOT be used
• The CRP wizards are not allowed, as they tend to shun Halfling cooking. However, wizards from the Spike! Journals are allowed to be purchased as inducements. Horatio, the wizard infamous coach in Death Zone 2 is a valid addition to your roster as well and does count against your wizard count.
• The CRP Piling On rule will be applied; it does NOT require a team reroll to use

Rosters
Teams will be created with 1100 gold team value (1,100,000 gold crowns) to be spent on players (minimum 11) and permanent inducements.
Coaches have 1,100,000 gold crowns to build a team consisting of a minimum of 11 players. You may purchase fan factor, rerolls, assistant coaches, cheerleaders and/or an apothecary (automatically successful) per each team’s usual rules. The following inducements may also be purchased at their standard price as permanent part of the team:
• Bloodweiser Kegs
• Wandering Apothecary
• Bribe
• Halfling Master Chef
• Star Players* - Halflings love these guys!
• Coaching Staff (from Death Zones and Spike! Journals)
*Star players may be purchased as a permanent part of the team; however, a team must already have 11 players on your roster before doing so. If two teams playing each other purchase the same star player, they will both be able to use the star player.

Sous Chef
You can’t cook up a feast of Blood Bowl without giving the coaches the help they need to dish out the violence! You get a sous chef! And you get a sous chef! Everyone gets a sous chef!!!

Inducement: Sous Chef
Sous Chef (normally 80,000 gp, available to all teams) – The Sous Chef has worked in the food industry under the greatest Halfling master chefs and is looking to cook up a meal for their own team. For each half, the Sous Chef will bring their creation to fruition, letting loose the alluring aroma of hand-picked herbs, perfectly-crafted pastries and of course a napkin to be tucked into a taster's jersey. At the beginning of each half, roll a d6. On a result of a 1, the sous chef botched the recipe and all the tasters are too busy spitting out the food to notice the game has already started - all players on the squad lose 1 MA for the first turn. On a roll of 2-3, the chef just missed the mark. Nothing happens. On a roll of 4-5, the team feels especially energetic and ready to make good decisions; the team gains a reroll. On a result of a 6, the other team is attracted to the smell as well. The Sous Chef's team gains a reroll and the opponents all lose 1 MA for the first turn.

Bonus Skills
Once the team is created, coaches are given an additional skill package to spend on player skills. Normal skills cost 20k, doubles cost 30k. The money spent on skills is in addition to the roster budget. Restrictions on skills are:
• Coaches may not carry over roster budget to their skill purchases
• No stat upgrades are allowed
• No skill may be purchased more than four (4) times
• A single player can only be given two (2) skills
Skills are given out based on the tier of the team. Remember, Halflings are the BEST!!!
• Tier A: 100K Skills (Goblin, Halfling, Ogre)
• Tier B: 80K Skills (Daemons of Khorne, Chaos, Chaos Pact, Khemri, Nurgle, Slann, Underworld, Vampire), a maximum of one doubles skill can be applied
• Tier C: 60K Skills (Amazon, Bretonnian, Chaos Dwarf, Dark Elf, Dwarf, Elf, High Elf, Human, Lizardman, Necromantic, Norse, Orc, Skaven, Undead, Wood Elf), no doubles skills may be applied

Scoring
Halflings know that a star player is key to winning the game - it's not like they can do it themselves! Teams will earn a bonus of 1 point per game for each star player they have rostered.
In addition, Halfling coaches know that min-maxing is the way to succeed in Blood Bowl. They want the Treemen and Stars to pound their opponents into the Astrogranite while they prance over to the ball and carry it into the end zone. So adding the net TDs and Casualties together for each game will affect a team’s score for the tournament.
Scoring:
• Win: 100
• Tie: 50
• Loss: 10
• Star Players: 1 per star per game
• TD+Cas Differential: -5 max to +5 max per game
Note that we play Brooklyn Rules here – stabs, secret weapons and fouls can amass casualty points! So can the crowd!

Modeling Requirements
Any miniatures are allowed, however each of the models of a position must be easily identifiable as such (similar poses, features, etc.). Each of the models must be numbered clearly. Coaches are also encouraged (not required) to have their models display identifiers for bonus skills bought. These could be rubber bands, stickers, flags or anything else creatively applied.

Tournament Format
The first round is determined by random pairings. Subsequent rounds will be Swiss pairings meaning that the two teams that will be playing each other will be of similar rankings. In the case that a coach would be paired with a coach they had already played against, the pairing will be broken up to face either up or down one rank to ensure this doesn’t happen.

Awards and Giveaways
There will be a number of awards that will be given out at Halfling Master Bowl. Note that coaches may only win one of these awards with the exception of the best painted award. The coach may choose which of the awards they are eligible to win to take.
• 1st Place – Most tournament points
• 2nd Place – Second-most tournament points
• 3rd Place – Third-most tournament points
• Stunty Hero – Highest finishing Tier A team
• Tree Hunter – Most casualties (team)
• Hot Pepper – Most touchdowns (team)
• Snake in the Grass – Most fouls (team)
• Wooden Spoon – Lowest points (team)
• Blue Plate Special – Best painted (team)

Sportsmanship
Sportsmanship is a big part of this tournament, as it should be with the entire game of Blood Bowl. While the players may be bashing each other to a pulp, coaches are expected to act with decorum. This includes a keeping positive attitude, not insulting opposing coaches, not rooting for bad rolls, not laughing at the opposing coach’s bad luck, not throwing dice, and other generally deviant behaviors. Hygiene is important too. Please shower unless you yourself are a Nurgle. At the end of the tournament, you will be asked to rank your opponents by sportsmanship shown.
Also remember that fouling, while a despicable act and worthy of distaste of the highest order, is a part of the game – this is not an act of bad sportsmanship.

Schedule
We’ll be opening for registration at 10am. Coaches need to be there as close as possible to that time so that we can start on time. The matches will be limited to 2 hours and 15 minutes in length, no timed turns. At the end that time, games will end and we’ll total up the scores, preparing for the next round.
