This is a standard 11s 3 round tournament with team creation 1000,000 pts plus 200k for skills. All rules as per standard Blood Bowl except for all the rules for “Bernie” below
“What kind of a man invites you to his house and then dies on you?”
The first time in a game that a player on either side would suffer an injury and be put in the casualty box, he is instead knocked down and remains on the field (if he was knocked out of bounds, he is put in the reserves) The player still gets the casualty point for injuring him, assuming he would normally (ie: by a block). That player is now Bernie Lomax for the rest of that game. The controlling player should cross out the player name on his roster sheet and write “Bernie Lomax” (If he doesn’t have multiple copies, he should probably do this in pencil)
“Why don’t we just pretend he didn’t die? Just for a bit!”
Bernie MUST be played in every drive. Bernie may be given actions as normal for the rest of the game but can only activate if there are two friendly players adjacent to him. If he ever ends his activation not adjacent to any friendly players, he will fall down at the end of his action. (Like Piling On, no armor rolls need be made and it is not considered a turnover unless he was carrying the ball)
“I tried to kill him, but he’s not dead!”
For the rest of the game, Bernie may never be stunned, knocked out, or removed as a casualty. He can only ever be knocked down. Still make armor and injury rolls as normal, and if he would ever be removed as a casualty as a result of a block, foul, crowd surf, secret weapon, or by being thrown by a member of the opposing team (see below), that player gains double the casualty points. Note that if Bernie would be injured by a thrown rock as a kickoff result, nobody gets any points for it.
“It’s just Bernie!”
Any time Bernie would suffer an injury from a failed dodge, a failed GFI, or being thrown by a player on his own team (see below), it counts as a casualty for the controlling player.
“He’s got nice form!”
Bernie Lomax has the Right Stuff skill, and throwing him works the same as with throwing any other player with the Right Stuff skill, with the following three exceptions.
1. Bernie will always fail his landing roll and fall down. This is only considered a turnover if he had the ball. Still make an armor and injury roll for him, however, to see if casualty points may be scored by the throwing player.
2. Bernie may be thrown by any player FROM EITHER TEAM that has the Throw Teammate skill.
3. If Bernie is thrown while holding the ball and lands directly in the endzone, he comically manages to hold onto the ball and score the touchdown. Players that have scored a Bernie Toss Touchdown gain 5 additional points toward winning the tournament. (this bonus may only be earned once)
4 . If Bernie is thrown off the pitch, the enthusiastic crowd will surf Bernie back onto the pitch. Roll on the throw in template and 1d6 for number of spaces to see where he lands. |
