The Oberwald Open is a 6-match resurrection tournament at Draknästet in Sundsvall. There will be a slight twist in the rules. Prior to the first match, each coach may select a player in their team who during the tournament goes under the progressive format. The player collects spp's and is allowed to live and die with lasting injuries and deaths. If your player dies, he will be replaced for the next match with the same player type but in his basic version. For example, if you give your Treeman "leap" before the tournament and he dies, he is replaced with a new Treeman without leap, and you have used up one of your skills for the tournament. If your player goes up in level then skills are rolled according to old routine.
If your player gets a permanent injury, you may choose to continue playing with him in that condition or replace him in with a vanilla version of that player type. However, no miss next game will apply even if you get negative stats, MNG or niggling. This is due to the fact that tournament organizer Griff Oberwald has very good contacts with Old World's pharmacy association. They will always make sure your player is ready for the next match - free of charge.
MVP = Three players are nominated, dice roll decides which one wins it. All players including the "living" may use their earned MVP spp's to increase in level.
If you have given a player one or two starting skills, he will not receive the next skill-up at 6spps. It is the number of spps´per level that counts. In other words, if your player has a skill, it needs to go from 6spps to15 spps for the next raise, and 15 to 31 for those who start with two skills.
Of course, starplayers cannot rise in level, but the brave coach can of course still appoint him as "alive" in the tournament. If you do, the team's coach gets "fan favorite", so don't roll a 1 on "argue the call" in that case.
End of the twisted rules. Below is the more normal ones.
Create a team for 1,150,000 gold coins. For that sum you buy players, staff and inducements. Starplayer may be purchased after purchasing 11 regular players.
Each race gets an additional sum to buy skills and inducements (not starplayers) based on the following tiers.
