Po-Town Showdown
Summer Shootout
Tired of trudging through those low scoring slugfests and wanna play some high flying, high octane Blood Bowl? Well come on out for the Po-Town Showdown's Summer Shootout. This year’s competition begins at 10am on June 26th, and pre-registration is strongly encouraged!
Coaches will be rewarded for choosing to leave those slow armored goons at home in favor of those oh so sleek and oh so fast showoffs racking up the airmiles and scoreboards with big risks and big plays. With big risks also comes big failures, in the spirit of the high risk playstyle the wooden spoon will be replaced with the Almost Cool Award for most interceptions thrown, fumbled throws, failed handoffs and failed dodges/rushes within touchdown range. Champion, Runner-up, Best offense, Best, Defense, Most Brutal, Stunty cup and Best Painted will be awarded as normal. We like to spread the love so no more than one prize can be one except in the case of best painted. Meaning if the champion is also the best offense the second best offense will claim the prize, however in naf recording it will be tracked and listed correctly.
This tournament is three rounds, and rounds will be timed in order to ensure the shootout claims a champion at a reasonable hour. We will briefly break for lunch after the first round.
Team Creation
Teams are constructed with a budget of 1.2 million crowns. All teams in the rulebook are legal, as well as the new khorne and norse rosters from spike, the six Teams of Legend, and the NAF Approved Slann roster.
Star players can be rostered as part of the required 11 man roster.
Inducements may be purchased with some of this budget, provided the team is legal (11 players, etc) before any inducements are purchased.
All inducements from the core rules, Death Zone, and the 2021 Almanac are permitted. The core mercenary rules will be used, and not the alternate rules from Death Zone.
Skills
After assembling their rosters, coaches may allocate either 4 non-duplicate passing skills OR 2 non-duplicate passing skills and a PA attribute boost to any players they wish regardless of regular skill access. However coaches electing to hire the services of Hakflem or Griff Oberwald forfeit these additional skills as nobody else gets to touch the ball enough to learn anything.
Additionally teams will have the following skill packages available by tier.
Tier 1 teams will get 4 primary and 1 secondary skill
Tier 2 will have 4 primary and 2 secondary skills
Tier 3 will get 5 primary and 2 secondary skills
Coaches looking to bring a little extra oomph to your passers may exchange a secondary skill for a boost to PA or a primary skill. Multiple skills/boosts may be added to the same player not to extend the max allowed. It should go without saying, but these points must be given to actual rostered players and not stars or mercenaries (or giants) taken with inducement money.
Scoring
Scoring will be swiss style, with tiebreaker points awarded for making those flashy shootout style plays. A tiebreaker point will be awarded for every 5 squares of airtime on completed passes or successful landing of thrown teammates applied to a weighted touchdown differential.
Everybody always wants to know, what types of bloodshed count for the coveted Most Brutal award? The answer is any injury which is inflicted as the result of a block, foul, crowd surf, or resulting from a movement modified by a player skill (arm bar, prehensile tail, diving tackle)
This is a resurrection style event, which means injuries do not carry over and players will not accrue additional star player points throughout the day.
Registration is $20. NAF membership is required for entry, and you can register with the NAF at www.thenaf.net. You may pre-register by sending the registration fee to Tylarledoux@gmail.com via paypal |
