WHERE AND WHEN
The BBAM BOWL 2 will take place at Board Miniatures in Moncton. The tournament will run from 10h00 AM to 7h00 PM on Saturday April 20th, 2024. It is organized by the Blood Bowl Moncton Association (BBAM).
NAF-SANCTIONED
NAF-sanctioned means that the tournament has been officially recognized and approved by the NAF, an international association of Blood Bowl players that maintains records of games played to create a global Blood Bowl ranking. BBAM BOWL participants are encouraged to join the NAF as members before the event : https://www.thenaf.net/.
COST
The BBAM BOWL cost of entry is $20 (paid at Board Miniatures). An extra 10$ (paid to me, Sam) will get you pizza for lunch!
ROSTER RULESET
The BBAM BOWL will follow the Amorical Cup 2024 ruleset for rosters and inducements : https://amoricalcup.com/ruleset/.
All participating coaches must provide their roster a week before the event (we recommend using Tourplay) which will be reviewed. The BBAM will provide two printed rosters for each coach – one for the coach and one for their opponent.
REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS
We have 12 spots. If you are interested in participating, send me a pm with your full name and the team you plan on playing (if you have made the choice)!
SCHEDULE
• 10:00am – 10:15am: Registration and pairing
• 10h15am – 12h45pm: Match 1
• 12h45pm – 1:15pm: Pizza break and team display
• 1h15pm – 3h45pm: Match 2
• 3h45pm – 4h00pm: Break
• 4h00pm – 6h30pm: Match 3
• 6h30pm - 7h00pm: Awards ceremony
Each match has a time limit of 2 hours and 30 minutes. As such, we encourage players to set up quickly and use a timer (60 minutes of play for each player), when your time is out, you have one minute per turn. If the game is not done after 2h15, coaches play until each coach has had an equal number of turns and the result applies.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT
In the initial match, coaches will be paired randomly. For the second and third matches, we will implement a Swiss format. Top-performing teams will face off against each other (winners VS winners), while bottom teams (losers vs losers) will compete amongst themselves. We will try to avoid duplicate matches.
The BBAM BOWL adopts an exhibition format. This means that all teams will start each match with their initial roster; no Star Player Points (SPPs) or Casualties will be applied as you would experience in a league setting.
TOURNAMENT SCORING
For each match, you will be given a form to fill in during and after the match with the information below:
- Win: +30 points
- Draw: +10 points
- Loss: +0 points
- Per TD: +3 points
- Per CAS (cause to your opponent during your turn): +1 point
- Perfect defence (no TD's against): +2 points
In the event of a tiebreaker, we will use the following:
1. Team tier
2. Total TDs scored
3. Total CAS inflicted
4. Roll-off
AWARDS
Awards will be given to (in case of ties, we will do a roll off):
- Overall champion (most points)
- Second place
- Most brutal (most CAS inflicted)
- Favorite team
Participants will vote for their favorite team (best paint job, original models, etc.). As such, we invite participants to leave their teams on display during the lunch break).
The value of prizes is based on the number of entries.
WHAT TO BRING?
Miniatures: Coaches can bring painted or unpainted miniatures, and proxies are also accepted (as long as the different positions/players are clearly visible). To enhance gameplay and clarity, it's strongly recommended for coaches to identify players' skills on the base of the miniatures.
Pitch: Coaches should bring their own Blood Bowl pitch. However, if any participant doesn't have a pitch, they should inform the organizers in advance so that arrangements can be made.
Dice: Coaches should bring their own set of dice for rolling during the matches.
Templates: Coaches should have throw-in, scatter, and pass templates available for use during the games. If any coach doesn't have these templates, they should notify the organizers in advance.
Rulebook: All coaches are encouraged to bring a copy of the Blood Bowl rulebook. We will have one on hand. This ensures that players have access to the rules and can reference them if needed during the tournament. |
