Welcome to the first ever PO-TOWN SHOWDOWN. The smashiest, bashiest, Blood Bowl event in the Hudson Valley.
Where: 43 Vassar Rd, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603
The event will be hosted in the old karate school located in the plaza.
When: October 16th , 2021. Tournament begins at 10am sharp. Latecomers will be allowed to play but may be assessed a penalty for their tardiness. We will be breaking for lunch after round 1, but otherwise we're playing until a winner is crowned.
Cost: $20
This is going to be a three-round, NAF sanctioned tournament. (Pending) NAF membership is not required for play but it is encouraged. Coaches planning to compete must bring all supplies required for play, as well as at least three copies of their roster.
Guaranteed prizes for Champion, Runner-Up, Most Brutal, Best Offense, Best Defense, Best Painted, Stunty Cup, and the Wooden Spoon. Further prizes may include new miniatures, store credit, and other stuff.
As this is a sanctioned event (pending), all NAF-legal rosters are permitted. We will be utilizing the new BB2020 rules set, including Teams of Legend and the NAF additions of Slaan and Khorne Daemons. The Po-Town Showdown is a Resurrection style tournament, meaning star player points are not accrued and injuries do not carry over to the following game. Casualties for scoring are inflicted by, blocks, fouls, crowd surfs, and any casualties inflicted by dodges failed under the effects of armbar, diving tackle, or prehensile tail.
Team Building: Teams will be constructed using a budget of 1.2 million gold crowns. Inducements from the Blood Bowl rulebook may be purchased with funds from this initial budget, with the following exceptions:
Prohibited Inducements: Special Play Cards, (In)famous Coaching Staff, Wizard Inducements (as clarification this does not include the Weather Mage per the Core Rulebook), Biased Referees, Mercenaries, Giants & Side Bets are prohibited from purchase. Everything else in the Core Rulebook and Death Zone is fair game.
Apothecaries: Apothecaries automatically succeed in saving casualties.
Star players: Star players can be purchased by any team only after purchasing 11 players. All star players from the rulebook, spike, and white dwarf are eligible. Highlander rules will be in effect, this means in any match where both players are rostering the same star player the player will take their paychecks from both teams and abstain from the game.
Skills: Teams then receive an allotment of skills based on their tier.
Tier 1: 5 Primary Skills, 1 Secondary Skill
Tier 2: 6 Primary Skills, 1 Secondary Skill
Tier 3: 6 Primary Skills, 2 Secondary Skills
Coaches can allot as many skills to the same player as they wish, provided that player does not receive more than the game’s maximum of six improvements. No team may purchase the same skill more than twice. Further, any team may exchange up to half of its primary skills for 2 random primary skills each which will be rolled the morning of the tournament with the tournament organizer.
Pre-registration is open for those who want to claim their spot. Payment can be made in the amount of $20. Rosters are not due until the morning of the event, but early submission is appreciated as it cuts down on roster review time and could save you from accidentally running an illegal roster.
