TOURNAMENT RULES PACK

The Golden Tentacle is the annual Blood Bowl event hosted by the Everett Blood Bowl League. It is inspired by and themed around the beloved Star Player - Lewdgrip Whiparm. His distinct tentacle arm is very similar to the Puget Sound’s Giant Octopus that is native to the Pacific Northwest USA.

PLEASE NOTE - All current COVID-19 regulations regarding vaccines and masks in place at the time of the tournament will be enforced.

The tournament roster builds, skill upgrade options, and match scoring mechanics are chosen to differentiate scoring among coaches with similar records, while also encouraging fast, furious, and brutal game play. Therefore, the Golden Tentacle rewards all injuries from fouling, weapons or feeding players to the crowd.

Team Building Rules
You are given 1,150,000 gold pieces to build your team roster. You may purchase players, rerolls, assistant coaches, cheerleaders, star players, and all other Blood Bowl 2020 inducements found in the main rule book with the following exceptions: Giants, Wizards, Special Play Cards, Journeymen, Mercenaries, Special Balls, Famous Referees, and Stadiums are not allowed. In addition, you are allotted 24 Star Player Points to purchase skills and stat increases (as found in the Blood Bowl 2020 rule Book). You may purchase either chose or random skills. All random skills must be rolled for in the presence of a tournament representative and remain the same for all three games.

Star Players
Note: If you are including one or more Star Players, then the total number of players (including Star Players) that you have on your roster must be at least 11 players. All Star Players contained in the Blood Bowl 2020 rule book are allowed. In addition, ANY team may purchase Lewdgrip Whiparm as a Star Player.

Lewdgrip Whiparm
Cost 150,00 MA 6 ST 3 AG 3+ PA 2+ AV 10+ Skills Dodge, Loner (3+), Pass, Cannoneer, Sure Hands, Tentacles SPECIAL SKILL – Once per game, Lewdgrip may make a Running Pass as in the rulebook, except he may do so after either a Quick or Short Pass.

Goblin, Hafling, Snotling, and Ogre teams may purchase Lewdgrip Whiparm for Zero Cost.

Star Players, like Lewdgrip Whiparm, are very popular at this event. As such, some players may pretend to be others, or some wanna-be’s will be cloned by Wizards to get double the pay. What does that that mean? The same Star Player may play for both teams during the match. A prohibition on multiple specific Star Players does not apply.

Skills - Players may be given up to two additional skills with Star Player Points. NO stat increases are allowed.

Timing The 2 hour and 15 minute rounds WILL be strictly enforced. You will ‘Time Remaining’ updates from the Tournament Organizer to help you stay on pace. If your game is running significantly behind, the Tournament Organizer may enforce stricter time restrictions. DO NOT begin another turn if there is not enough time for both players to complete the entire turn.

Dice Coaches will decide between themselves whether they will or will not share dice. Regardless of the agreement between the coaches, EITHER coach at ANY time may request that both coaches share the same set of dice and both are required to do so. Only GW/NAF Block Dice and D6’s may be used.

Scoring After each round you will fill out a Match Sheet for the game just completed.
Tournament scoring is determined by Match Points + Player Points = Total Points. This means that Player Points are not used as a tie breaker, but instead are used to determine Total Points.
• A WIN is worth 60pts
• A DRAW is worth 30pts
• A LOSS is worth 10pts
• Touchdowns - Every Touchdown that you score earns +1 bonus pt
• Casualties - Every CAS against an opponent (including fouling, special weapons, or crowd pushes, eating a player) earns +1 bonus pt (but not failed dodges, gfis, thrown rocks, etc.)

Game Play
• Turn models that have completed their action to face you, turn them around to face your opponent at the end of your turn
• Reroll all cocked dice. Declare the purpose of your roll before you roll the dice. An action may not be taken back once dice are rolled.
• Provide a copy of your roster to your opponent.
• Declare all actions before moving your model. Move players into each square when they move, including moving around a square instead of dodging through.
• Teams should be fully painted and based.
• Each position on the team should be easily identifiable.
• Skill/stat upgrades on your team must be easily identifiable to your opponent using skills rings/bands or some other system. Simply providing your roster is not enough.
• Each model on team clearly numbered and match your roster.

The tournament will use a semi-random schedule for the first round, and Swiss pairings for the remaining rounds. The semi-random schedule for the first round will attempt to pair up coaches from different gaming clubs to ensure playing variety. The top table will be the Squigmire Stadium (created by Woodrow Arrington).

Tiebreakers
The Scoring system includes sufficient bonus points to get the most accurate representation of how everyone has performed and differentiate coaches. If, by chance there is a tie in Tournament points, the ties will be broken in this order:
1) The team which includes Lewdgrip Whiparm, 2) Net TDs, 3) Net Casualties, 4) Most TDs, 5) Most Casualties

Sportsmanship
We are here for the fun of the game. Sportsmanship is not only encouraged from the coaches it is required! Fouling 16 turns in a row and running up the score is not poor sportsmanship, in fact that behavior is incentivized in the point-scoring rules. However, gloating and ridiculing your opponent while doing so is. Let’s do our part for the community.

The Little Lewdbowski Nurgle Achievers Scholarship
“They’re not literally his children. They’re the Little Lewdbowski Nurgle Achievers – Stunty teams of promise without the necessary means for a - necessary means for a higher placement. So, Mr. Lewdbowski is committed to sending some of them to the Wizard’s College.”

The Little Lewdbowski Nurgle Achievers Scholarship is a competition within the tournament that occurs simultaneously with the Golden Tentacle. The contest enables the Tier 3 races of Halflings, Goblins,Snotlings, and Ogres to apply for the Little Lewdbowski Nurgle Achievers Scholarship, where the top finishing team among these races will become the 2021 recipients of Mr. Lewdbowski’s very generous scholarship. Now, Mr. Lewdbowski just doesn’t throw a foundation’s money at a problem – he is committed to personally rolling up his sleeves and helping out to make sure that the players on these teams have a necessary means for high placement. Therefore, any Halfling, Goblin, Snotling, or Ogre team may purchase Lewdgrip Whiparm, a.k.a Mr. Lewdbowski himself, for zero cost so that he can personally work with them for a brighter tomorrow.

All Halfling, Goblin, Snotling, and Ogre teams will play in the same tournament as everyone else, and their opponents will be determined in the same manner as everyone else. However, at the conclusion of the Golden Tentacle, the highest-ranked team among them will be awarded the Little Lewdbowski Nurgle Achiever Scholarship. Of course we are including this to encourage team racial diversity at the event, and not so that these coaches only vie for the Little Lewdbowski Nurgle Achiever Scholarship. We assume that no-one is going to play only for the scholarship. Therefore, all teams listed above are also eligible to win the Golden Tentacle.

These four races listed above are eligible to purchase Lewdgrip Whiparm at zero cost as an incentive to compete.

Spread The Wealth - A coach may only win one award. If they are in line to win more than one award, they will be asked which one they would prefer and the next coach in line will be given the other award.

Tournament organizers reserve the right to adjust the awards.
