The Goat-El Games
BACKGROUND
We all know the story of Sacred Commissioner, Roze-El. But what many do not know is that long ago, Lord Nuffle wanted his magic to live on within the old Dwarf. Nuffle secretly blessed Roze-El’s personal treasure chest and fusing together his powerful magic within his dwarven coins. Like most dwarves, Roze-El didn’t believe in magic and just assumed some coins were a bit lucky at best. His son agreed - but his grandson was not of the same mindset.
The young Goat-El, waited for precisely the right time, after both his father and grandfather Roze-El passed on, to research what type of power these coins really had. He learned they had the ability to alter real time but such power would drain the coin of their magic. To satisfy his insatiable urge for violence, he created his own Blood Bowl tournament, the Goat-El Games.

Bring your painted Blood Bowl team, roster, block dice, D6’s, D12, or D16 or similar for random player rolls, a Blood Bowl pitch, and applicable rulebooks and templates.
In the interest of safety, you don’t have to share dice, shake hands, or unnecessary physical interaction. Fist bumps are still cool. Stay safe and if you feel sick, stay home.
TEAM BUILD
You are given 1,100,000 to build your team using the 2020 Blood Bowl Rulebook and:

You may only purchase players from a single team list. Plus you may purchase cheerleaders, assistant coaches, apothecaries, dedicated fans, rerolls, and bribes. You may not purchase star players, mercenaries, cards, or anything else not listed in the previous sentence.
No extra rules from Spike Magazine or Death Zone or other supplements will be used. Standard weather table and kickoff table will be used. Any unspent money is wasted.
You are then allowed to ‘train’ some players using one of the two packages below:
6 players each may be given one skill maximum from their primary categories. No secondary choices. No limit to how many of same skill is taken.
You may give 4 skills (2 primary + 2 primary or secondary) to players on your team. Players can be given a max of 2 skills. No limit to how many of same skill is taken.
Please do your best to make it easy for your opponents to know who has what skill. Coins or markers next to the model, colored skill bands, markings on the base, unique model poses or paintjobs are all good ideas. Saying “they are numbered and you have my roster” isn't ideal.
ROZE-EL COINS
While not a Chaos Dwarf by birth, Goat-El, was as evil as any Dwarf could be. He sought to reward foul play on the pitch with one of his grandfather’s coins. These sacred coins are magic and wise Blood Bowl coaches may wish to use them to help their team achieve victory.
Players on the pitch can earn tokens throughout the tournament by successfully fouling an opposing model and causing a Casualty. It does not matter if the ref spotted the foul or not.
The tournament organizer (or Goat-El himself) will give the coach a Rose-El Coin to be immediately placed underneath the player who caused the casualty by fouling. This coin acts as a one-time use “Player Reroll”, essentially the same as a Team Reroll but can only be used for that player and only one time during the rest of the tournament. A player may not have more than one coin underneath them at any point. All the rules that pertain to a Team Reroll and rerolling dice more than once apply here too. Once the reroll has occurred, the coach will remove the coin and possibly buy some beverages with it after the game as the magic has now been drained from the coin.
SCHEDULE
Registration: 10:00 - 10:30
Round 1: 10:30 - 12:30
Lunch: 12:30 - 1:30 (Full hour, so leave, eat, then come back. Don’t bring food back)
Round 2: 1:30 - 3:30
Break: 3:30 - 3:40
Round 3: 3:40 - 5:40
Break: 5:40 - 5:50
Awards: 5:50 - 6:00
Tournament will have strict 2 hour time limits (No overtime) and tournament organizer will provide updates on time during the games. Random pairings first round, swiss pairings (similar records) in Rounds 2 and 3. Tournament Organizer will break ties at their discretion.
SCORING
Win: 20pts
Draw: 10pts
Loss: 0pts
You will receive +1 bonus point for every Touchdown your team scored
You will receive +1 bonus point for every Casualty inflicted on other team, even if they caused it themselves (dodging, GFI), from crowd injuries, from fouling - anything.

1st place: Top Tournament Points
2nd place: 2nd Most Tournament Points
3rd place: 3rd Most Tournament Points
Roze-El Award: Most Touchdowns not in Top 3
Goat-El Award: Most Casualties not in Top 3
Iron Spoon Award: Lowest Tournament Points
Any ties will be decided by Tournament Organizer. There is no award or points for painting or sportsmanship. You should have a painted team and you should be a good sport. Just pretend there is an award and pretend you are a good person. |
