Information
The 24 Hour Board Game Marathon on Saturday 30th July 2022 will be hosting the Cots for Tots Cup, a 3 game one-day Blood Bowl tournament run by myself and my friends from Yeovil’s Atomic Comics Blood Bowl League.

The 24 Hour Board Game Marathon is an annual 24 hour board gaming extravaganza held to raise money for Cots for Tots, a Bristol based charity that helps very sick and premature babies.

Tickets:
Entry is the price of a ticket for the marathon, which will allow you entry into the venue and this tournament. You need to purchase either a 12 hour or 24 hour ticket, which are £12 and £24 respectively. I'm hoping a NAF rep attends so we can sort out those who do not have NAF membership (only £5 extra) on the day.

Venue:
Edgar Hall, Bancombe Rd, Somerton TA11 6SB, UK

Food and drinks are available to purchase in the venue. The venue has a bar and loads of space for games in the evening/night should anyone wish to stay on after the event. The marathon lasts until 9am on Sunday 31st July, so come for the Blood Bowl and stay for the everything-that-isn't-Blood-Bowl!

Tournament Format:
This tournament adheres to the following:
• BB2020 rules, resurrection style. This means all injuries are healed between rounds i.e. the same roster is used in each round. The tournament will follow the NAF Rules for Tournaments document.
• Randomly drawn first round; Swiss format afterwards
• Any new team, Spike or Errata released before July 1st 2022 will be valid. Exceptions will be explicitly stated.
• All BB2020 teams and Teams of Legend will be eligible. This includes Slann and Khorne. Bretonnians are not eligible.
• Players killed and raised during a match (such as via the Masters of Undeath rule or Plague Ridden skill) are lost at the end of the match. Star Players can be killed and raised like any other player.

Schedule:
09:00 Venue Opens/Registration
09:55 Announcements
10:00 – 12:15 Game 1
12:15 – 13:00 Lunch
13:00 – 15:15 Game 2
15:30 – 17:45 Game 3
18:00 Awards

Scoring:
2 points for a win
1 point for a draw
0 points for a loss
-5 for a concede.
Any coach who concedes is also disqualified from winning any awards

Tie breaker, in order: Strength of Schedule, Touchdown + Casualty Difference, Goblins?*, Best of 5 Dice Off.
*By “Goblins?” I mean if the coaches are still tied at this point, Goblin coaches win the tie break. Skip this if none or all of the tied coaches played Goblins.

Roster Creation:
1,200,000 GP to buy players, rerolls, sideline staff and inducements. Each team is in a Tier, taken from the latest GW Errata May 2022 Tier List except I tweaked it so Orcs are in Tier 1:

Tier 1: Amazon, Chaos Dwarf, Dark Elf, Dwarf, High Elf, Lizardmen, Norse, Orc, Shambling Undead, Skaven, Underworld, Wood Elf
Tier 2: Black Orc, Chaos Chosen, Chaos Renegades, Elven Union, Human, Imperial Nobility, Khorne, Necromantic Horror, Nurgle, Old World Alliance, Tomb Kings, Vampire
Tier 3: Goblin, Halfling, Ogre, Snotling

Each team will have skills to allocate to their players – see Page 72 of The Official Rules book. They are as follows:
Tier 1: 5 Chosen Primary Skills
Tier 2: 6 Chosen Primary Skills, 1 Chosen Secondary Skill
Tier 3: 8 Chosen Primary Skills, 2 Chosen Secondary Skill

• Stat upgrades are not allowed.
• Primary skills may be taken instead of Secondary skills.
• Exactly one player on the team can be given more than one skill, up to a maximum of six given skills – players can only reach Legend!
• A given skill can only be chosen twice in the team – no guard or block spam! Note, this does not apply to random skills if your team has induced certain Star Players, see below. You get what you roll, end of.
• Star players cannot be given skills.
• One Dedicated Fan can be bought for 5k. Additional Dedicated Fans cost 10k.
• Tier 3 teams may use Chosen Secondary skills to instead remove any skill from a player. An example is to remove Secret Weapon from a Looney or Fanatic or Bone Head from an Ogre. The stacking limit of 'exactly one player on the team can be given more than one skill, up to a maximum of six given skills' still applies.
• Any player that has the Secret Weapon skill removed still suffers the penalties for tackle zones when dodging, so no easy chainsaw cage dives!
• If a team induces one of Morg 'n' Thorg, Griff Oberwald or Hakflem, all their allocated skills are replaced with Random Primary and (if Tier 2 or 3*) Random Secondary skills!
o You get to choose the category before rolling, however. All random skill rolls are to be done before starting Round 1 in front of your opponent and are permanent for the entire tournament.
o * Yes that means if you want to use a Secondary Skill to remove a skill, that skill will be randomly selected. Hopefully you'll remove Take Root and not Throw Team-mate...
Are Morg, Griff and Hakflem worth the randomness? Let's find out!

Inducements:
Only the following inducements are permitted:

Official Rules: Biased Referee*, Bloodweiser Kegs, Bribes, Halfling Master Chef, Mortuary Assistant, Plague Doctor, Riotous Rookies, Star Player**, Wandering Apothecaries, Weather Mage.
Death Zone: All ‘Other Inducements’ (Pages 36-39) except Side Bet. Giants may also be taken for 350k because why not? (See Pages 52-55 in the Death Zone book)

* The Biased Referee must be the one stated on Page 95 of The Official Rules book. No fancy Death Zone refs!
** Teams may take a maximum of one Star Player. Teams must buy 11 rostered players before taking a Star Player.

You must check your 1st round opponent’s roster for any errors. Any rosters found to be illegal after this will be disqualified from winning any awards. Rosters must be clear to read (digital is preferable) and available for your opponent to view at any time. Please contact me before the event (or come grab me on the day) if you are unsure on the legality of a roster (preferably before rolling dice!).

Awards:
Major:
1st place
Runner Up
Most Casualties*
Most Touchdowns

Minor:
Stunty Cup**
Best Painted
Wooden Spoon
Goblin Champion!

Tiebreakers for Most Casualties and Most Touchdowns are, in order: Net Casualties/Net Touchdowns, Goblins?, Best of 5 Dice Off.
* Any casualty counts towards Most Casualties, even if the player leaves the Dead & Injured box at any time for any reason e.g., regen or apothecary. So get fouling, crowd pushing and chainsawing!
** The following teams are eligible for the stunty cup: Goblins, Halflings, Ogres and Snotlings.

Coaches cannot win more than one Major Award. Coaches can win more than one Minor Award. The Goblin Champion award goes to the highest placed Goblin team! Why? Because I love goblins, that’s why.

Charity Reroll:
Because this is a fun charity event, I am shamelessly borrowing a great idea (it's not the first instance in this rulespack) I have seen at another tournament - shout out to LeslieHero23's NOW That's What I Call Blodging 2019:

For a minimum donation of £1, in each round coaches may purchase a Charity Reroll that allows you to reroll a Team Reroll* once during the round it is purchased in. If you do not use it during a round, it is lost (it does not roll over into a subsequent round). All proceeds go to the Cots for Tots fund.
* Team Rerolls for the purpose of the Charity Reroll are any rerolls purchased during team creation, gained via the Master Chef or through a kick off result. This does not apply to skill rolls or leader rerolls. Charity Rerolls used to reroll Team Rerolls used on 'Loners' must still pass a Loner check to be used.

Further Notices:
Please bring:
A painted team (minimum 3 colours)
Board(s) and dugouts
Dice, tokens and templates
Roster (preferably digital, but if printed please limit to one copy)

Any questions/enquiries about the tournament rules or venue, fire away. Please contact the 24 Hour Board Game Marathon organisers (namely Dan Aspey) directly for queries on food dietary requirements.

Because this is linked with an established event and I am not taking the payments for tickets, it's tough to exactly gauge how many are coming. We have a provisional 30 spaces, but we can up it if we get enough interest. I’ll do my best with a signup list in talkfantasyfootball.org and will sort out registration on the morning.

The 24 Board Game Marathon has a Facebook group page if you want to follow any news from there: https://www.facebook.com/The24hourboardgamemarathon

I know this has kinda silly team building rules, but it's a charity event so I wanted to spice it up. Lean into it!

Please forgive the tiny hand-ups I’ve given to Goblins scattered here and there. Can’t wait to see you all there!
