Are you The Greatest? Can you design "The Greatest" player to compliment your team? Then come float like a butterfly, sting like a bee at "The Greatest" Merc Bowl 7s!
Blood Bowl Sevens is a shorter, quicker version of the sport played on a smaller pitch by players who weren’t quite good enough to make it into the big leagues.
Each team will be given slightly more money than a normal 7s team (650k), and the opportunity to build a mercenary player of their choice, from the Death Zone "Fabulous Freebooters" rules (pp.40-51), subject to the following limitations:
- If you don't take a merc, you don't get the extra 50k
- The merc is 1 of your 4 allowed positionals
- No skills from your separate skill budget below can be added to the merc (you have to do it, and pay for it, in the merc building process)
- You have to abide by whatever race-specific rules the merc rules have (some teams can't take specific types of merc players)
- No Stat reductions allowed to reduce merc costs
- No Mighty Blow +2 or Dirty Player +2 skills are allowed
- Don't have access to a Death Zone? Contact the TO, and we can walk through them together to build you a player.
Otherwise, we will be using the official Second Season 7s rules from the 2021 Death Zone, as well as that manual's pricing for inducements (including desperate measures if someone wants to purchase one or more of them).
IN SHORT:
- All Blood Bowl 2020 races & rosters available from the Second Season Rulebook, Teams of Legend pdf, as well as the NAF-approved roster for Slaan. The updated 2020 Khorne roster is approved for this tourney, as well as the new Norse and Amazon rosters. No 2016 rosters or outdated Khorne, Norse or Amazon rosters
are available.
- No star players are allowed
- 650,000 gp to spend on your team, unless you don't take a merc, in which case you get the usual 600k
- You must hire 7 and up to 11 players, and only 4 non-linemen types allowed (mercs are a positional)
- Re-rolls cost double (they’re amateurs)
- Inducements must be bought at team creation, at the pricing provided in the Death Zone manual. Desperate measures may also be rostered as an inducement, but a new roll on the table will be required before each game. No wizards, infamous coaching staff, or other inducements not listed in the Sevens Rules may be induced (see Death Zone p.93 for a full list of allowed inducements).
SKILLS:
- Each team is allowed to give some players additional skills within the restrictions below.
- Each team chooses 1 player to be the Team Captain - they gain the Leader skill. The Team Captain can swap the Leader skill for any primary skill if they so choose.
- Teams will have a number of additional skills based on the Team Tier ratings.
- No player can be given more than 1 additional skill as discussed below (this includes the Team Captain, who already has his or her additional skill). And the Merc cannot be given any of these skills, only through the building process where you are paying for them in cash.
- Tier 1: 1 skill, must be a primary
- Tier 2: 2 skills, up to 1 of which may be a secondary.
- Tier 3 (Includes Lizards with no Saurus, Black Orcs with no Black Orcs and Underworld with no Skaven): 3 skills, up to 2 of which may be a secondary.
