The Golden Tentacle is bigger than ever this year with a two-day, six game format.
We will be using the World Cup V - Alicante Team Building and Individual Scoring rules https://www.thenaf.net/wp-content/uploads/2020/12/Ruleset-NWC-Alicante-2023.pdf
with the following exceptions:
*Squad rules do not apply.
*Withergrasp Doubledrool is available to all teams. All other World Cup V star player rules apply.
*Nuffle’s Blessing
As a celebration of mutation, The Golden Tentacle often draws the attention of Nuffle. This year, one player on each team will be given Nuffle’s Blessing. At the start of the match, each coach must select one player to receive a random skill from the Mutation table. If the player already has the randomly selected Mutation, roll again until a skill is selected that the player does not possess. The blessed player should be marked in some way to indicate this skill. Star Players may not be selected to receive Nuffle’s Blessing. The Mutation disappears at the end of the match.
*The Embrace of Nuffle
A summer day in Cascadia is always blessed by perfect weather. So, when a 6 is rolled on the Kick-off table, instead of rolling for a weather change, a giant tentacle appears out of both trapdoors for the remainder of the drive. (For pitches without trapdoors, please mark them with the supplied stickers before the game begins.) The Tentacle is MV 0, ST 5, AG 0, PA 6, Armor 9+, Tentacles, Stand Firm. Any player moving into a space occupied by or adjacent to the Tentacle will be held by it as if it were a player on the opposing team. If the ball lands in the space occupied by the Tentacle it will be picked up by the Tentacle and thrown 2d6 squares in a random direction determined by a d8. Although the Tentacle cannot be moved, it can be blocked. If a block against the Tentacle results in a “knock down”, the Tentacle temporarily is stunned and any players held by it may move freely out of its tackle zones until the next player’s turn. A successful block that results in a KO or Injury will cause the Tentacle to disappear through the trapdoor for the remainder of the game. It will not reappear even if another 6 is rolled on the Kick-off table, although a Tentacle may appear at the opposite trapdoor. A successful block that results in an Injury of the Tentacle counts as an “injury” for the purposes of scoring in the Golden Tentacle.
*Look Ma, I’m a star!
Blood Bowl players are always looking for an opportunity to be noticed and gain some endorsements. In a tournament as important as The Golden Tentacle, those who have been blessed by Nuffle see an opportunity to showboat for the crowds. When an 8 is rolled on the Kick-off table, the player on both teams who has received Nuffle’s Blessing must activate first on each turn as long as that player is on the pitch for the rest of the current drive. If your team includes Withergrasp Doubledrool, and he is on the pitch, he may activate first instead of the player with Nuffle’s Blessing.
*The Little Lewdbowskis
In keeping with the tradition of The Golden Tentacle, stunty teams (i.e. Tier 5 teams) may add Withergrasp Doubledrool to their team and still select either the A or B skill packages. If an additional star player is added to the team, they can
must select skill package C. |
