Special Rules and Team Building

Special Rules
Argue The Call – For this to be allowed, you MUST have a coach model that is thematically accurate for your team.
The Low Cost Linemen special rule will have no effect.
Weather will be Nice Weather to start all games.
This is a Resurrection Tournament. Therefore no SPP will be recognized and injured players will recover between rounds. You will start each new tournament round with your original approved roster.

Team Building Rules

You are given 1,100,000 gold pieces to build your team using NAF Tournament Info. All teams and inducements in the Blood Bowl Official Rulebook are allowed. EXCEPTIONS are Weather Mages, Wizards, Special Play cards, Giants, and Mercenaries.
Any official GW star player from the Official Rulebook or Spike magazine may be fielded. Teams of Legend are also allowed.

Star Player Purchasing

Note: If you are including a Star Player you must have 11 players on your team BEFORE being able to hire the Star Player. Having 10 players plus a Star is not allowed. In addition to their hiring costs, star players can incur a skill fee as noted in their category.
Star Players will play for both teams. There is no “Highlander Rule”.
Up to 2 Star Players may be rostered per team.

*After a long, slow, frustrating conversation, these stars have been told they need to PASS, not SMASH. They seem to understand, and while they will play with their normal teams, are very excited to “throw a tiny one, throw it far”. TL:DR, only stunty teams get these stars penalty free.

Player Advancnment

Coaches have skill points to spend based on the tier of their team. Rules for spending SP is as follows.

A Primary skill upgrade costs 1 Skill Point
A Secondary skill upgrade costs 2 Skill Points

No skill may be taken more than three times
No Star Player may receive additional skills

Tier 2 - 7 Skill Points
Black Orcs, Chaos Chosen, Chaos Renegades, Imperial Nobility, Khorne, Nurgle, Old World Alliance, Slann, Tomb Kings, Vampires, Snotlings

Timing
The game round time limit of 2 hours 15 minutes WILL be strictly enforced. You will receive ‘Time Remaining’ updates regularly from the Tournament Organizer to help you stay on pace.
The use of a turn timer app will not be enforced unless the T.O. feels your game is in danger of not completing in the 2 hour 15 minute time limit. The T.O. may insist on a turn timer app being used and enforcing the 4 minute turn rule at any point. Either coach may request that a turn timer be used if both teams have not completed Turn 10 when one hour remaining is announced. If a game is forced to go on a timer, any coach who’s time expires for a Turn may only pick up prone players before passing the turn. When final time is called, you will play until each coach has completed the same number of turns. Make that turn quick to keep the tournament on schedule.

Dice
Coaches must use tournament D6. Only GW or NAF Block Dice may be used. If a coach requests to share dice, it will be done. You and your opponent should decide the definition for cocked dice and treatment for cocked dice before the match.

Scoring
Fans have come from far and wide to see the strong arms on display. Completing exciting passes will pump up the crowd and earn their admiration.
Coaches will be given a “point checklist" to fill during their game, adding the total before turning in to the T.O. Both coaches should compare results before turning game sheets into the T.O.

Win= 40 pts
Draw= 20 pts
Loss= 0 pts
Touchdowns= 3pts
Casualties= 1pt. Only from blocking/failed blocks, failed dodges, and secret weapons.

Checklist (these may only be achieved once per game)

Successful Quick Pass = 3pts
Successful Short Pass= 6pts
Successful Long Pass= 9 pts
Successful Long Bomb= 12 pts
Catch a pass in the endzone to score= 5 pts
Successful Interception (not deflection)= 3pts
Catch an opponent's fumble= 2pts

Throw Team-mate attempts that result in a successful landing of a ball-carrier may count as a success for the appropriate range above, and will receive an extra point. Coaches must mark the according box on the point checklist for this.

Example: troll throws a goblin carrying the ball 5 squares, the goblin succeeds on the landing roll, the coach may tick the box for successful short pass, and +1 for a successful throw teammate.

Passing Distance is determined by the receiving players location. Throwing a medium pass to a player and having the player run downfield will not count in a successful long pass, only a medium as that was were the player was when catching.

For throw team mates, the target square determines the pass distance. Deviations to a further distance zone do not result in a successful pass for the further zone.

There will be no overtime played. The final tournament standings will solely be determined by total points.

Tiebreakers
The scoring system has been purposefully set up to reflect the theme of the tournament. If by chance there is a tie in Tournament points, the ties will be broken in this order:
· Scoresheet Completion
· Completed Passes (checklist only)
· Total Touchdowns
· Total Casualties
· Net Touchdowns
· Roll off – best two out of three

Sportsmanship / Behavior

We are here for the fun of the game. Sportsmanship is not encouraged from the coaches, it is required.
Fouling 16 turns in a row or running up the score is NOT poor sportsmanship, but gloating and ridiculing your opponent while doing so is.
The Tournament Organizer reserves the right to penalize or remove any coach for inappropriate behavior. This includes toward other coaches or other patrons of the venue.

Awards

To be eligible for an award, you must have played all 3 rounds of the tournament. Awards will be given in the form of certificates.

o He. Will. Go. All. The. Waaaay! Champion – Most tournament points scored.
o Just Short of the Goalline Runner-Up – 2nd most tournament points scored.

Spread The Wealth
A coach may only win one award. If a coach is in line to win more than one award, it will be awarded in the order listed above. Tournament Organizer reserves the right to adjust the awards based on extenuating circumstances.
