SKABB Christmas Gutterbowl 2023 will consist of 3 matches of Gutterbowl. Coaches will be paired at random for the first match with the remaining two matches being paired under the Swiss Format. We will do everything possible to avoid duplicate pairings during the event.
The event will be held under the exhibition format so all teams will start each match as rostered (no SPPs or Casualties are applied).
EVENT SCHEDULE
18.00 - 18.30: Registration
18.30 - 19.20: Match 1
19.20 - 19.30: Secret SKABBer gift exchange
19.30 - 20.20: Match 2
20.30 - 21.20: Match 3
21.20 - 21.30: Awards and prizes
Matches will be held to a 50min time limit with coaches being reminded with 15mins and 5mins remaining. Once the time has expired, it will be dice down with the active player’s turn ending immediately.
MATCH SETUP
The theme of this year’s event will be the Christmas Market so all coaches will be playing on the market Gutterbowl pitch following the appropriate weather and kick-off tables.
ELIGIBLE TEAMS
All standard Blood Bowl teams are eligible This includes:
- All the teams in the core Blood Bowl rulebook
- All teams included in Spike! Magazine
- All teams from the Teams of Legend PDF from Games Workshop
We will also allow Slann rosters to enter (roster available from the NAF).
TEAM VALUE AND INDUCEMENTS
Teams will be allowed to use 750,000 gold pieces to draft their team.
Star Players
Star Players do not want to risk doing battle in the Christmas Market - therefore no Star Players can be drafted.
Inducements
Inducements are purchased during team creation with the only Inducements allowed being those in the Gutter Bowl rulebook. However, rerolls are not permitted.
LETTERS TO SANTA
To keep things merry, at the start of each game each coach gets to roll on the Letters to Santa table. Each coach will roll a D8 and get the following:
1-2: You’ve been naughty. Not much for you this year. Father Sawbones has come to visit. Once your team has been setup, randomly select one player who will lose 1MA for the rest of the game.
3-4: Not a bad effort. Choose one player to gain the Pro skill for the rest of the game.
5-6: I can see you’ve been tidying your room. Roll for a random lesser magic potion.
7-8: You’ve been very good! Roll for a random superior potion.
TOURNAMENT SCORING
The following points will be awarded for a win, draw or loss:
Win: 20 points
Draw: 10 points
Loss: 0 points
In addition to this, you can gain additional points as detailed below:
Casualties - 3 points per casualty (Max 3 per game)
Touchdowns - 1 point per touchdown (Max 3 per game)
WHAT TO BRING
Please bring a team that is clearly marked / identifiable player types. Teams do not have to be painted, but we think the game looks better if they are!

TIEBREAKERS
At the end of the tournament if any coaches are on equal points, their final placement will be decided based on the following tiebreakers:
1) Touchdowns scored
2) Casualties inflicted
3) The pulling of a Christmas Cracker (best of 3) |
