Couples Cup Rules Sheet
Date: SATURDAY, July 13th, 2024 AT 10 AM – 7 PM
Location: Comic Quest at 23811 Bridger Unit 111 Lake
Forest, CA 92630
The Gimmick: On ThursdayJuly 4th,, a Star Player
“Draft” will be held. See: special rules below.
Team Draft Budget: 1,150,000 gold pieces+
Team Selection: All Blood Bowl 2020 rule books and
supplements including Slann are usable excluding
Death Zone and any forms of mercenaries
Tools of the Trade: Models, Roster, Dice, Rulebook, Pitch and Dugouts.
Registration: To register email bloodbowlcouplescup@gmail.com. Registration is $25. You are
considered registered when you have paid, and not before. If you have not paid before July 4th,
you will not be assigned a Star Player, and you will not get to take part in the tournament.
Payment may be given to the tournament organizer (Bradley) anytime before July 4 in person,
or by paypal at bloodbowlcouplescup@gmail.com $5 is a non-refundable deposit (meant to
discourage people dropping after being assigned their Star Player). When you show up in
person, on July 13, you will receive $5 cash. When you register, you may choose up to 2 Star
Players to be your mulligan. We will be capping the tournament at 20.
NAF/WCGP: We are awaiting NAF approval.
Special Rules
Banned Star Players: Any star player that only comes as part of a set of two (Dribl/Drull,
Grak/Crumbleberry, the Swift Twins, and any other others introduced).
Pool A Star Players, the Mega Stars: Bomber Dribblesnot, Griff Oberwald, Hakflem
Skuttlespike, Kreek ‘the Verminator’ Rustgouger, Morg ‘n’ Thorg. This list may change prior to
the draft.
Pool B Star Players: Akhorne the Squirrel, Helmut Wolf
Pool C Star Players: Every other Star Player officially introduced (stats and special ability being
made public, no model needs to be released) before July 4, 2024
The Draft
When: July 4, 2024:
What: Every coach who has registered (including payment received) will be RANDOMLY
assigned one Star Player from Pool C. This draft will be done in front of witnesses, recorded,
and be available upon request, until the day of the tournament. If a Star Player is assigned to a
coach who had named them as a mulligan, they will be assigned a new Star Player, and the
previous Star Player will again be available to be drafted. If the 2nd Star Player assigned is also
on a coach’s mulligan list, they will still be assigned that player. Once a Star is assigned to a
coach, that player will no longer be available to be drafted, and will also be unavailable to be
included in any other team’s roster. Once the draft has finished, results will be posted, and
emailed to the coaches. All remaining, undrafted Pool C Star Players will be moved into Pool B.
Creating a Team
How: Coaches will make a team that MUST include a minimum of 11 rostered non-star players,
their assigned star player, and a 2nd star player from Star Player Pools A or B. Both Star
Players must be able to legally play for the created team. Teams may not induce a 3rd Star
Player. If both teams have induced the same star player, the player will play for BOTH teams,
with one being a long-lost identical twin. Crazy how often that happens.
What?!?: Not everyone owns every team, nor every star player. Because of this, with help from
local volunteers, borrowed teams and star players will be available. Some of these will be nicely
painted GW teams, some will be proxies. Please be respectful of anything that does not belong
to you. If you have any teams or Star Players that you would like to offer up on loan for the day,
please contact the tournament organizer at Bloodbowlcouplescup@gmail.com . Every little bit
helps, even if it’s just a singular star player or krox. If you need to borrow a team or star player,
please let the tournament organizer know, so one may be provided for your use.
How Much: Teams will be given a budget of 1,150,000 gold pieces + the cost of the drafted star
player with the highest cost. I.e. if someone was assigned Roxanna Darknail, then ALL teams
would be given an additional 270,000 gold to build their team.
Hiring Pool A Stars: If you would like to hire a Star from Pool A, it’s gonna cost ya! These
stars will not only require their hiring fee, but also 3 of your allotted skills.
Inducements: All Inducements from allowed sources are allowed, except for special play cards.
Inducements must be purchased from your Team Draft budget during team drafting and are
permanently added to your Team Draft list for the event. Please note the following: If both
coaches have Induced the same (In)Famous Coaching Staff, both coaches get to use that
Inducement. Duplicates do not cancel each other out. Assume that the character appearing on
the losing team was an imposter, or long-lost cousin! The exhibition PTN table will be used.
Skills: Reference the team tier list and get the amount of skills listed with the following
restrictions:
• Tier 1 - 4 Primary Skills, Tier 2 - 6 Primary Skills, Tier 3 - 8 Primary Skills
• A player may not be given more than two additional Skills and only 3 of the same skill
may be assigned per team
• Can trade 2 Primary skills for 1 Secondary skill.
• These additional Skills are free and do not count towards your team budget.
• Star Players may not be given skills.
When: Final team rosters will be due Thursday, July 11, so that the needed teams and stars can
show up. Some of them are real primadonnas!
Team Tiers
Teams are sorted into tier based on the current GW tiering seen here. Any changes GW makes
before July 4 will be treated as current. Any changes to tiers made by GW after July 4 will revert
to the previous tiering. If a new team is introduced between the announcement of this
tournament and July 4, or a new edition of a previous team is released by GW, then it will be at
the discretion of the tournament organizer to allow the new team.
Tier 1 Teams: Amazon, Chaos Dwarf*, Dark Elf, Dwarf, High Elf*, Lizardmen, Norse, Shambling
Undead, Skaven, Underworld Denizens, Wood Elves.
*Team of Legend **Unofficial, NAF approved team
Tier 2 Teams: Black Orc, Chaos Chosen, Chaos Renegades, Elven Union, Human, Imperial
Nobility, Khorne, Necromantic Horror, Nurgle, Old World Alliance, Orc, Tomb Kings*, Vampire,
Slann**
Tier 3 Teams: Goblins, Halfling, Ogre, Snotling
Tiering is subject to change before July 4. Gnomes will have to go somewhere!
