Post subject: SPIKE! - GW Toronto Nov 19-20
Well it is back on.

A little scaled down this year, but running all the same.

Running in the same location as last year.

The BUNKER in Mississauga Ontario.

Offical GW tournament so you know the drill. Also it is a Std Swiss style tournament for the Spike! trophy. 5 games over 2 days with the final two teams playing off for the Spike!.

Details to follow.

If someone could please please be willing to take over updating the official Spike website with the details on this tournament I would really appreciate it. Time, location, rules ... all of that would be greatly appreciated.

Also if someone could be responsible to get the results so they can be posted to that site ... again ... that would be a great help.

TheChaosCup.com has had almost 10,000 hits since I updated for the 2005 tournament. If we can get the Spike site up to par that would be great.

Thanks

The website is:
http://www.thespiketrophy.com/

Tusk didn't load up the skeleton ... I can do something basic if he doesn't have time.

Give me the who what when where.

If you have a copy of the rules, the timing of the games and event ... cost to play, etc.

Also any local hotels if someone needs to spend the night (with website links) would be very nice.

Also if anyone wants the rights to get access to the Spike site to update it (like Ben) ... please let me know.

Hey Galak,

I'll probably be doing the web stuff for the Spike, since Ben has no clue about it. Once we get the info finalized we'll let you know.

It looks like the TBBF is going to be running the Spike for GW this year, so its a group effort between a few of us.

I guess this is better than nothing at all.

Oh I know who has the Stadium...we could likely borrow it...talk to me at the next TBBF meeting - his shop is not far from the Dueling Grounds

Xombe: perhaps he would be willing to part with it to the NAF so it could become a permanent part of the TBBF group and be available for the Spike tourney... I'll ask Deathwing and Doubleskulls about the NAF acquiring some of the beautiful stadiums out there for use at the large tourneys, especially the Majors... there are many out there and we can begin to preserve these as part of our own Blood Bowl legacy...

just a thought....

Yeah! Paul already invited my via PM. It's already in my day book and cleared with my wifey.

Now, for all of you out there:

1) Who is going down to this tourney from Ottawa or Montreal?
2) Does anyone have a room to share for that weekend?

I may be able to swing a room for you at my place Garth. Unfortunately though, it doe snot look as though I am going to be able to attend, not the full tourney anyways. A family dohickey has come up on the Sunday, so I cannot make it for that day. I may still consider coming for the one day however, as long as that would not screw things up too badly....

I'll let you know Garth, when I know more.

Thanks for trying Paul, but the guilt that I would feel from you would be far less than what I would get from my family for missing the "dohickey". Maybe I could come dressed as a cheerleader for the first day and do a little "ra-ra-sis-boom-ba" for all the players! Shocked

I just got home, it was a fun weekend for everyone not named Paul, as my Dwarfs decided that not only would they not dodge, pick up the ball or anything like that. They choose to slap the hell out of the opposition, but wore kid gloves as I did about 8 Cas in all 6 games. Including 3 games where my opponents had 4 or 5 players left on the pitch at the end.

Trevor Clapham won, and had most Casualties
BikerBob was 2nd and won the best painted and best defense (gave up 1 TD, in the finals, and lost) Smile
Garth Elliot won most TDs
Eric Rubli picked up most sporting.
James Hoya picked up the Wooden Spoon and Glass Jaw

thanks to Ben for organizing things at the Con and Twist for playing Sub-Commander sitting out as the odd man out all weekend.

Hey guys ... who won the Spike 2004? We are trying to wrap up the LRB 5.0 and wanted to check with the winner of the team.

His team name was
Rats of Nihm

We have a minor concern if this will be a copyright issue to publish in the rulebook and wanted to know if there was a minor renaming that he would accept to put his team into the record books.

2004 Ben Tusim: Rats of Nimh (Skaven) defeated Necromaniacs (Necromattic) score??
2005 Trevor Clapham: Stub-ees (Dwarves) defeated Chaos Pride (Chaos Dwarves) 1-0
2006 Rod Davidson: Hell Pit Wildrats (Skaven) defeated Low Down Dirty Rats (Skaven) 4-0

Is just the 2004 winner being written into the fluff?

After having looked at what I believe to be the most current LRB5 Rules...the Stub-ees are listed in the fluff...I'm guessing that means that you will be there as well. Smile
