North America - Carnage in the Capital

Garth I have a question on the rules. It says after each game a random MVP roll will be done for each team but only of players that got SPP's that game.... (So if I had only one compleation '1 SPP' that player automatically gets the MVP?)

Also what if I have a horrible game & do nothing as far as SPP's (no Cas, no Int, no TD, no Comp.) According to the rules only players who recieved SPP's can get an MVP, so if a guy has a horrible game & gets 0 SPP's he gets punnished again by having his MVP taken away?

Kinda harsh if you ask me.

Or if no SPP's are recorded in a game is it then a total random roll off all the players?

Rod.

its on the calendar of tournaments, its the weekend after next (19th).

its unusual but kinda fun format, three groups of 4 (grp 1 plays friday night, 2 on saturday morning and 3 on saturday afternoon. top team and best 2nd place play in the semi finals which are on sunday along with the final.

Its part of cangames so there are lots of other things to go do when your not playing.

Thanks, joe! I couldn't have said it better myself....! Wink

Just FYI, all spots on the Friday division are already taken, but there are free spots on Saturday morning, and Saturday afternoon. 'Finals' are on Sunday. Actually, the Con goes another day, but I chose not to do any games that day -- perhaps next year...

I have already offered my house for any out-of-towners that are coming. Hey, Rod, I heard that you might be interested... There are lots of pubs in Ottawa...!

Yes.

I will update the rules. In this case, the MVP will be randomly determined from all players (standard rules). Not much of a MVP though...

I heard that you might be interested in coming down for this tourney. You are welcome to stay at my house. Lot's of pubs in Ottawa...

BTW, this tourney was originally a vehicle to get more interest in Blood Bowl in the Ottawa area. However, this year, it seems that the majority of the player are experienced, which is fine with me. There are some Ottawa guys interested, but I am not sure if all of them are NAF.

Brian, here is a chance to do your PR stuff! (NAF and Death Bowl)

Is there anyone coming from the TO area for this one? I might (very heavy on the might) be able to swing this one - I would like to be able to get out to a tournament and it looks like Spike! is a bust.

Would like to see who is going and maybe hitch a ride with someone.

Once again, I *DON'T* have ANY control over registration since the tourney is part of the convention. I am afraid that if you wait until later, you won't get in. There were some guys from Ottawa who were interested and I fear that they will be registering this weekend too!

My T.O. guys are unavailable to come, so I could always use more players, especially experienced ones. But don't do it if it is not in your schedule... Besides, there is always a 'walk on' possibility...

Hmmm... based on previous tourney experiences, the title might be "Wooden Spoon Recipient!" Laughing

Here I am!

No, I was doing family stuff that I put off all weekend. But it was nice to have a drink or two while Blood Bowling, even if I was only watching/T.O.ing.

I got a lot of good ideas for next year's tourney, including possibly a specialty board and kick-off table (special for Ottawa). I doubt it will get any 'bigger' but there has been more and more interest in participation. Lots of neubies, and that is a good thing. Still, regular BB players were the top 3.

Gold: Joe Byers (Orcs)
Silver: Eric Rubli (Humans)
Bronze: Mark Hickling (Humans)
H.M.: Emery Finkelstein (Humans)

As you see, lots of humans and orcs (lots of neubie players who used my teams) at this tourney. Eric DID use his Chaos Dwarfs, but did better with his humans. He even manged to win the rubber match against me (sorry, not for NAF rankings since it was an 'exhibition' game).

Lots of interest from experienced players in NAF and other tournaments. Spazz & Brian, I told all players about your tourneys. Mark Hickling (not a NAF member) is particularly interested. Too bad I didn't have any NAF info to distribute.

A successful tourney all round. Thanks to all participants, especially the experienced players who gave some gentle help to the neubies.

Oh yeah, the Gold Medal game was 3-0 (2-0 casualties) and the Bronze Medal game was 2-1 (3-0 casulaties).

The winner (Joe Byers) had, in four games, a combined TD +/- of 7 with 12 casualties. WOW!

I must say that was a very enjoyable tournament and with such a unique format which was very approprate for the showcase that is CanGames.

And I musy say after REALLY winning one game the whole weekend Silver is a great placing. Though that game was tough, despite my opponent having the bad luck that is usually mine, with my opponent being the heads on favorite to win. Also, having beaten Garth in the rubber match was also a high point.

Thanks for the great time Garth, hopefully next year will be even better.

Hey Garth,

gotta dig up the stats from last year. Pretty sure my Dwarfs scored a ton of TDs in their four games and had a few casualties of their own as well.

On also, I notice that I've got a Carnage in the Capitol 2006 listing on my NAF rankings. Are you finally getting around to adding in last years tournament or did you screw something up?

WOW! Here is some feedback I received from the CanGames committee:

"Members of the commitee received feedback from players and spectators at the CanGames desk. After the convention, we discussed this feedback at our post-convention dinner. It's the first time I've been told about spontaneous feedback like that, and you should really consider it a feather in your cap. This year, I think a total of three events were brought to our attention in the way yours was, out of about 225 tournaments that ran over the weekend."

Continuing...

"It's clear the Blood Bowl tournament left a positive impression on not only it's players, but also on spectators. Events like yours help to raise the standards and reputation of the convention, and we are extremely happy and thankful that you once again supported the convention by running such a high-quality event for us."

OK, seriously, it wasn't THAT good... I have many ideas about how to improve for next year. I should bring these guys to some of YOUR tournaments, and then see thier jaws drops (I looking in the direction of Spazz and Cyberhare...!)

But I will take any compliments...!

Well done Garth!

It is always greatto get positive feedback on a tourney. It is quite something to get such compliments from someone who was not even invovled in the tourney itself! Excellent!

Thanks you for the compliment! I think the biggest appeal to my tourney is in it's custom boards. This would be easy enough for you to do too. Look on for the Scarscrag Snivellers on the painted forum, that guy had an awesome pitch that looked easy to do. I think by building a few custom boards, that are just your basic pitch, then that would be another plus for your tourney.
