NAF World Cup - NAF World Cup Event Registration

Post subject: NAF World Cup Event Registration
This is a preliminary outline of the NAF World Cup registration process so that coaches can get an idea of what is to happen and understand the importance of getting your team organized...

The planning has been based upon a target attendance of 240 coaches, or 40 teams. In order to provide opportunities for signing up to those outside the UK, we have set aside a certain number of seats/teams and will work with each of the RTCs to fill this allotment of teams. This part of the process will run from approximately June 2nd until June 30th. During this time, only COMPLETE teams, with at least 6 members, can sign up, pay for their tickets, and get their spots.

After this initial phase - approximately JULY 1, 2007, we will re-distribute the seats not taken to the open pool and the registration process will be opened to any team or individual who wishes to attend - teams will be formed on the Friday night from any coach who has not yet signed up.... The sale of open seat tickets will continue until all seats have been sold, or until sometime at the end of August at which time we will take a count and report attendance to GW so they can plan their catering and staff.

Currently the initial estimate of teams accounts for nearly 3/4 of the overall number of tickets, leaving roughly 50 - 60 seats. We are working with GW to find more seating but this is the number we can currently count upon so getting your team together now is very important!

As you form your teams, be sure to get emails and contact telephone numbers from as many coaches as you can, select a team captain, and make your race determinations....

We will post the complete process - who to contact, how to pay for your tickets, and more, at the beginning of next week - this outline is to provide a primer on the process, and to spur those coaches who have not formed a team to do so....

Please PM me with any comments or questions,

Post subject: RE: NAF World Cup Event Registration
Here is the registration process for the NAF World Cup in October - the start and end dates have changed by a week or so, but most of the process is as outlined in the original post above. PLEASE read carefully and contact the NAF staff and/or the RTCs if you have any questions. Thank you!

After long and considered discussion, the NAF staff and the Regional Tournament Coordinators have created the following process for team and individual registration for the NAF World Cup. Please bear in mind that the World Cup is first a TEAM event, so the process has been made to serve TEAM formation and registration as much as possible, while giving every opportunity for teams, both inside and outside the UK, to choose up and play.

There will be two phases to registering teams and coaches:
1. an initial team registration ??? to fill spaces set aside by region/country;
2. an open registration for both teams and individuals

The first phase, which will begin June 7, 2007, was developed to provide every opportunity for those coaches and teams traveling from both inside and outside the UK to be guaranteed space at the World Cup. A list of regions/countries was made and team allocations set aside, based upon conversations with coaches, staff, and most importantly, the RTCs. This list was determined by what the executive staff feels is a fair balance between distance and reasonable expectations of attendance. The initial estimates of this list call for a total of between 42 teams being held, (or 252 coaches)

The initial allocation of World Cup teams is as follows:

Denmark - 3
Italy - 6
Australia/New Zealand - 2
USA - 1
Austria - 1
Spain - 6
Dutch - 2
Germany - 3
France - 7
UK/British Isles - 9
Belgium - 1
Portugal - 1

At this time, it will be the responsibility of each RTC to work with coaches and team organizers to develop the following information and to receive the total team funds:

a. Team Name
b. Country of Origin
c. Name, Mailing Address, Email Address, and Race Being Played, for EACH coach (the race played can be changed until the tourney begins...)
d. Team Captain (one hopefully competent in English but this is not a requirement, just a recommendation) who will represent the team at any meetings during the World Cup.

IT CANNOT BE STRESSED ENOUGH THAT THE ONLY WAY TO BE FAIR WILL BE TO HAVE EACH TEAM PAID IN FULL. Otherwise we leave ourselves open to accusations of bias and unfairness. If a team wants to be assured of a place, they must notify their RTC, provide the information, and pay the ticket price.

The deadline for reserved team sign up will be July 1st, 2007 at which time the staff will look at the progress of everyone in signing up teams according to the initial estimates. If need be, up to an additional week will be added to collect funds and finalize the initial teams. Some will have all their teams, some may not - that's is OK.... If a RTC has need of more slots and others do not, the staff may decide to move some allocations to another area, or we may expand the overall pool.

We expect to open the sales of team and individual tickets by July 8th, 2007 at which time the unreserved number of coaches as well as any unused team allocations will be put into the general pool of tickets.

We anticipate that, if all the initial teams slots are filled, there will be approximately 48 tickets available at that date. Should team slots go unfilled, this number will increase. We believe the demand for these tickets to come primarily from additional UK teams and players, though these tickets are open to anyone.

At that time there will be an online registration on this site for anyone or any team wishing to participate and it will be strictly first come (first paid), first served.... There will be an open forum on the NAF website, visible to all, for which a coach will post their desire for ticket(s), at which time the coach will have forty-eight ( 48 ) hours to deliver the required information (as above) via PM to a NAF officer, and pay for their ticket(s).

No more than six (6) tickets, or one team, will be allowed at a time and all the necessary information (as above) will be required for each place. Member names and NAF numbers will be verified, and every precaution taken to prevent the hording of tickets and to insure the sale of tickets to only those members who wish to attend.

We will continue to sell the remaining tickets until all are sold or until August 19th, at which time we must notify Games-Workshop of the total number of coaches we expect.

The executive staff and RTCs believe this system of ticket allocation and team formation will allow for every coach and team who is serious about attending the first-ever NAF World Cup to attend. Please contact the NAF staff or your RTC via PM should you have any questions or concerns and we look forward to seeing everyone in October.

They have answered the call.

And the once-proud kingdom trembles, awaiting the inevitable clash of titans and mortals across the length and breadth of its cold land. Unforeseen hordes have begun their steady, relentless march across seas and oceans, over dark rivers and the steppes of the world, beneath glittering cities and towering mountain crags, they are on the move.... and they cannot now be stopped.

They move because they burn with a fury bright and deep. Their champion???s heart beat faster as the cry was flung across the world, the challenge open to all who dared, all who laughed in the face of the pitiless god Nuffle... they now move across shadow and light.... and they will not now be stopped.

All who have laced boot and sharpened spike, strapped on gloves and helmet, all who have brought a team together for glory and riches, all who have watched and drunk as their heroes charged and leapt in supreme contest, and celebrated success, or shared misery, now are quiet and still.

For this is Blood Bowl...

And this is the calm before its mightiest storm....

Total: 39 Teams

In addition, the organizing committee has allocated two additional teams for the UK/British Isles ??? bringing the regional total to eleven (11) - and also granted Team Australia additional time to complete its organizational requirements. EDIT: The organizing committee has also approved a second team from the Belgium region, Team Leffe.

This brings the number of total teams to FORTY THREE, with 258 coaches registered at the completion of this phase. So congratulations to all of the National Tournament Organizers and the Regional Tournament Coordinators for a job very well done and to the staff for developing a fair and robust distribution of seats amidst many competing pressures.

The confirmation of coaches status and getting the data accurately compiled apparently will take several days longer than planned and we are also discussing with Games-Workshop what the final number will be: either 288 or 300 coaches. This is obviously critical to determine BEFORE the individual tickets go on sale and is more a matter of logistics than anything else. We expect this matter to be resolved by the end of next week ??? Friday, July 13, 2007, so we are currently planning that the open ticket phase ??? where individual tickets and small group sales will occur ??? will begin on MONDAY, JULY 16th, 2007. There will be more information posted regarding this process and should any changes to this timeframe occur, we will announce them this next week - thanks to the membership for understanding and patience with this process.

Again, congratulations to everyone: staff, organizers, captains, and coaches for a superb job ??? we applaud your effort in providing the necessary information and your committment to the NAF World Cup.

Now... get to practicing!!!!

NAF World Cup.... 103 days and counting...... are you ready?

Not for at least a week or ten days - we are going through teams now and making sure we have all the needed info.... plus we are waiting for the final three teams to be submitted by their RTCs and paid for.... but the plan is to post the teams, and then begin to post the matchups so that teams will know their first round opponents BEFORE the first Saturday round begins.... we are considering doing the same for the first round of matchups for the individual matches on Friday....

Just wondering...

Are the races which individual players registered with fixed i.e. can they be changed prior to the tournament? For instance if player x registered as playing humans but decided to play orcs a week before the tournament, is he allowed to make this change?

Asking because if individual coach match-ups are posted then people may be inclined to consider altering their race depending which coach they are drawn against first round.

Or are the match-ups you'll be posting just team vs. team, rather than coach vs. coach? (as Hangus asked)
Old_Man_Monkey - Jul 10, 2007 - 04:15 PM
Post subject:
The races for each coach are not fixed until the registration for the tournament - coaches may change up until that time, so long as the 'each race may be represented on a team only once' rule is still followed...

As far as posting pre-tourney matchups, only the coaches will be posted - it will up to the coach whether they wish to tell the world the race that they are playing beforehand, or not.... The same will apply at the team level should pre-tourney matches be posted.

The primary reason for the organizing committee to consider this is to be able to give greater direction to coaches and teams upon arrival at the Warhammer World - we will have already posted a venue/map layout with table positions and made coaches/team assignments beforehand, which will greatly aid the registration process. Definitely preferred to registering everyone, then creating a random draw on site, and then re-directing everyone afterwards.... a potential nightmare avoided with some advance planning....

What is the number to ring to order individual tickets (as our 6th player just dropped out)? And they now go on sale on the 16th of this month?
Old_Man_Monkey - Jul 11, 2007 - 04:03 AM

There will not be a telephone number to call - in order to make the process transparent to everyone, it will be online.
From an earlier post in this topic:

"At that time there will be an online registration on this site for anyone or any team wishing to participate and it will be strictly first come (first paid), first served.... There will be an open forum on the NAF website, visible to all, for which a coach will post their desire for ticket(s), at which time the coach will have forty-eight ( 48 ) hours to deliver the required information (as above) via PM to a NAF officer, and pay for their ticket(s).

Member names and NAF numbers will be verified, and every precaution taken to prevent the hording of tickets and to insure the sale of tickets to only those members who wish to attend.

We will continue to sell the remaining tickets until all are sold or until August 19th, at which time we must notify Games-Workshop of the total number of coaches we expect."

It appears now that 288 tickets will be the final number, so there will be only 30 tickets available on the date we start. I t still looks good for this coming Monday and we will start as close to exactly 8:00am GMT as possible. I will create a new topic at that time and do my best to acknowledge each post requesting tickets. From that moment, the coach posting will have 48 hours to pay for their ticket(s) via the NAF paypal account: nuffle@bloodbowl.net.

I will PM each coach with an acknowledgement of the receipt of their payment via Paypal and edit their post with a PAID marker. After the thirty tickets have been purchased, we will ask that coaches continue to post their interest for tickets so that any teams which lose a member can then contact those coaches.

This is the most open and fair way we can see to do this - everyone will see the order/posting time of each request and I will do my best to maintain the tracking of the payments. On one hand I regret there not being more tickets at this phase, on the other I am very pleased that the team requests were so strong....

Hope this helps....

For those coaches who are attending as a SUBSTITUTE for a team, please DO NOT purchase one of the open registration tickets - these places are for coaches who wish to be part of a six-member team and are not yet part of an announced team. The organizing committee will develop the procedures to register and pay for any coaches attending the World Cup as a SUBSTITUTE for an existing team. The most likely procedure will be that a substitute will be able to register as part of a team, with the approval of the Team Captain and the RTC for the area, and pay for a separate pass after August 20th, when we have finalized the list of team and open registrations... The ticket cost will be the same, as a substitute will receive all the benefits of a team coach: meals, premiums, etc.

Please PM me directly if you have any questions.
