Question.... I have this desire to play some overseas tournaments.. but in all honesty the destination would have to coincide with somewhere I plan on traveling to in general.

So my question is this?

Does anyone play BB in South Africa? and has there ever been a tournament there?

There has never been a NAF tournament in Africa (actually they are all North America, Europe, Australia & NZ).

Or you could look on coach locator!

Ok, I know this is a year on since the original post, but hey, you may still read it.
Blood Bowl is played in South Africa. I have been running leagues here for about a decade and there is an annual Blood Bowl tournament called the Shaka Shield, as well as several 7s tournaments run throughout the year. All organized by myself. The scene is not big but it does exist. Smile We have never been NAF registered though. View our website: www.bloodbowl.co.za if you are interested.

Why not? You are NAF so you should register the tournament. It costs you nothing and you ought to be able to get some prize support.

You never know the publicity might help increase numbers too!

I would definately consider planning my dream visit to Africa around a NAF tournament there, are the other coaches in the league NAF and as Ian said is there any reason you havent registered as a NAF tournament?

I know:

* There are BB players in Asia (I've sent dice to Vietnam and South Korea as regional tournament organiser)
* There is one dedicated BB'er (I think also FUMBBLER) in South Africa - I think his nick is 'Da Imp'. He used to very active on TBB.
* There is at least one BB league in South America as well.

Da Imp (Jonathon) has been NAF staff for a while now and represents South Africa. We have sent dice to a number there over the years and Jonathon knows of several others and hopes to get some events running. He should be your main contact.

There is a small community in SA, Da Imp is busy getting people registered with NAF at the moment. THe Shaka Shield should be NAF registered and that will be later on in the year.

Rabid, just so you know some two years later, Da Imp is still the staff there and we had email conversation less than a month ago. He may know about things going on a local level.

To my great shame I haven't been checking the NAF forums. So I ahve missed most of this conversation!

The Shaka Shield is scheduled to go ahead again this year. Last weekend in February or first weekend in March. I am trying to get as many players as I can registered and signed up with NAF so I can submit the results here.

(on a side note... I never submitted the results for last years Shaka Shield to the site... is it still possible to add these results almost a year later?)

Theoretically absolutely. I've had other tournaments submit results that late before. Of course, it's far from preferable.
