Post subject: Canadian Leagues
I am working on the links pages for the BB webpages that I webmaster, and I am looking for Canadian BB Leagues to add to this list.

If you could post your league name, location and website/email contact, that would be helpful; not only to me but others searching for leagues.

Thanks.

Eric,

I will leave it to Ben to decide the fate of the TBBF. But I would like to officially declare the introduction of the BOMBBL. The Brampton Oakville Mississauga Blood Bowl League. I would like to make the 15th of November our inaugural meeting.

As fun as that would be, it would be a programing nightmare. Each league runs under its own rules and I would like to them to be as autonomous as possible.

Yeah!! A league to play in. Even if it is only you, Dan and I Wink Many current Semi-Pro sports leagues only have 3 teams . . . we all got to start somewhere. Geez, the NHL only had 6 teams for 25 years and almost got taken out by the WHL before expanding.

The BOMBBL (pronounced 'bumble' with Bee LaDouche as Commisioner, I assume Laughing ) will be added. If you are lucky I may create a website Rolling Eyes

That sounds best - I would not have to want to rely on one person to have to do that data entry for everyone.

I would think you are correct, or maybe it is just in a coma. Really the TBBF stopped being the TBBF when they stopped actually playing in Toronto. Maybe someday someone can ressurect it, but for now, I have no intention on going into TO to play games when our players are local here.

Wait a sec, we also have Schofield, Laurent, Chris Poynter (he never went to BC) and maybe a couple of other guys who are showing some interest of joining a league. I think what we need to do though is have more of an active recruitment. Spread the good word! Can I get a "Hallelujah"? Worship

The one Marc speaks of, is the one he has with his friends in Gatineau. I think Joe is in plans to revive our league and bring it back to a regular reoccuring games. Every other week kinda thing.

I was hoping the league would be revived, I need to start playing more again.

Well I just heard back from Scott Smith again (former manager of the Square One GW store) and he is going to be coming out on the 15th, and has a bunch of BBers that he is going to be bringing out of retirement so it looks like our league is getting off to a good start numbers-wise, this can only bode well for tournament attendance as well!

That's a league that me and some friends started in 2000 or so. We've been playing almost non-stop since then. Scheduled games, with the same 5 coaches.

It's not really open to new coaches, but I still wanted to mention it here. It's like an old-boys club, where new members are screened based on things that are completely un-related to bloodbowl. Razz

And yes, we need the OGBL to get revived, and the best way to do that I think is to have some form of schedule. I worked a web site with standings and stuff to complement the blog that Joe setup a while back, but never really finished it (mainly because Joe and Mark never sent me their rosters so that I could turn it on). Rolling Eyes Laughing Laughing

Post subject: RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Canadian Leagues
That's cool Marc-Andre, I was just wondering as I had never heard anything going on. Guess the rest of those guys you play with aren't into the tourney scene?

We should definitely get something going on a weekly/bi-weekly basis. We used to get together every Saturday and play one or two games but that schedule doesn't work for everyone now. Should set up a schedule where you have designated opponents and you have X amount of time to play that opponent in that week or 2 week period. Everyone has a set amount of games to play depending on the number of coaches in the league. Once everyone has played there games, have playoff seeding or a round robin, to determine semi-finals, & championship games. Would be easy to set up and keep organized, take it easy,

Played the game since I was 8...(27 now) ..1st/2nd/3rd ed. Looking forward to the 360 game, but still want some board action.

Something that sparked the blood bowl tick again for me was the chaos pact and underworld teams.
Will BOMBBL be allowing these teams? Seems they are totally endorsed by the rules committe so I dont see why not even if they aren't OFFICIAL official. From what I've read they aren't official because GW cant support them with minis yet. We shouldn't let GW ruin our fun Wink

If I manage to come out this saturday I'd bring an underworld team. I have 2nd ed skaven being shipped to me so I'd probably have to sub in something else as proxy until I get them in my hands.

I think we can make an allowance of having those three teams in there. I mean, we'd better seeing asI will probably be starting off with my chaos pact and introducing a Slann team sometime in the new year! Razz

As for skaven, I have a team that I can lend you Saturday if you need - just don't throw them across the room in frustration when you get spanked by me! Twisted Evil

I never really like the newer ones...

They dont seem very over the top either. Animosity is neat and will screw me at the right time. Maybe they should have changed it so that they cant assist players in a block other then their race aswell? Too much of a negative?

I could see people possibly having a whine over the 3 big guys in the chaos pact list....but...whatever. The list seems pretty solid.

I've beee waiting for official/almost official lists that mix races for a while.
I think they did a great job.

The BOMBBL is still looking to increase it's ranks. So if you are a coach located in the Brampton Mississauga area or are willing/able to make the trip to the west end of the GTA, then we would love to have you come out.

Ona another note, I talked to the manager at the GW Square One store and he has offered to do two things for us:

1) if we want to make some posters/flyers then he would be willing to hand them out at the store

2) If we want to go in on a Monday or Friday then he would allow us to play games there. I imagine that this may only be once in a blue moon (unless other people want to do it more regularly) Keep in mind that the figures you use MUST be GW figs. They can be conversions, but as long as they are based on GW figures.

So if anyone is willing to help out by designing a poster/flyer that would be awesome.

I could possibly make a Monday, would anyone else be available in the next little while?

I have noticed that several leagues have fell dormant, either through not renewing their web address or just general lack of information. If you are still active at a new address, or email or on seasonal hiatus, let me know so I can keep this information up to date that local Coaches in your area may have a way to contact you. Absence of info may have you removed from this list, and I hold no prejudice or prior affiliation as part of my process (this includes you BOMBBL). BTW, I have no standard way of updating/upkeeping this list other than by random checks and provided information.

Sorry to sound like a hard a$$, but I [personally] hate nothing more than dead links and outdated information, and I am sure I am not the only one.

The Blood Bowl League of Calgary is gearing up for Season 10. Season 10 will start 3rd or 4th week of September. We look to have 14 - 18 coaches participating.

Our league set up allows the casual and the enthusiast the opportunity to both compete for the final playoff tournament at the end of the season.
