Painting - Canadian Legacy Team

Cramy - Jun 08, 2009 - 07:26 PM
Post subject: Canadian Legacy Team
Posting on behalf of Dan Chaput, who is having issues accessing this forum right now.

Dan has gotten a Canadian legacy team going. Get the details on TBB at the following thread:

http://www.talkbloodbowl.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=27344&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Essentially, people voted for a Norse team, and coaches have started to pick the players that they want to make and paint.

I won't put the details here unless I have to. I want to avoid having the two threads contradicting each-other.

Go to the TBB thread and get the details, and pick your player. If you can't access TBB for whatever reason, post here and I'll be happy to work something out so that you can participate!!!

Post subject: RE: Canadian Legacy Team
Dan is unable to continue with organizing the Canadian Legacy team, so I am taking the reigns.

The team is to be done by the end of the year.

This is where we sit right now:

I would hate to see this project die. I will take the reigns on it.

Here is the team as it stands now (assuming everyone is still in)

danchaput -Head Coach
pyttroll -Berserker #13
SBG -Berserker #4
mysterious stranger -Ulfwerener #9
Eggball -Runner #7
wedge22 -Thrower #22
dwarfrunner -Runner #3
Cramy -Linman #19

Grampyseer - apothecary

Needed:
Ulfwerner
Thrower
Several Linemen
other coaching staff?

I will go in for a lineman #44

I would like to offer people to send me their unbased miniatures, and then I will base them with the snow flock that I bought (and have too much of) from the local train shop. That way the bases can be consistent.

So please get involved in this one and pick which model you would like to contribute to the cause!

Alright - the end of the year is coming and I am hoping that coaches are going to be taking advantage of any time off they have this holiday season to get their model done for the 1st Canadian Legacy Team.

I will admit that I have not even begun mine yet, but am making a firm committment to have mine ready for the CCKO at the end of January. Any coaches who are attending that tourney are encouraged to have their model read at that time, to make the shipping/delivery easy.

For anyone who is on the Talk Fantasy Football forums, you will see that Eggball has pulled off an AMAZING runner. The runner is modelled after himself (tall and gangly) and is done to his very high standard.

I like the idea of doing something to model the plauer after ourselves - keep this in mind if you have the ability and inclination to do this with your own model.

Well, Spazz's reminder worked wonders on me too. Here's my fig. I ran with Dwarfrunner's suggestion and modelled it after myself. Accordingly, mini Eggball is ginormously tall and skinny, measuring 36mm to eye-level or 40mm to tip of the antlers. There's a scale pic below for comparison.

Besides the moose antlers, the red and white uniform and the maple leaf, another Canadian feature is the one-piece longjohns (now off-white as a result of constant wear).

In case anyone's interested, here are the recipes I used for the red and white (from base coat to final highlight):

Red:
- Mechrite Red (MR)
- Wash with Devlan Mud
- MR
- MR/Blood Red (BR) 1:1
- BR

White:
- Dheneb Stone (DS)
- Wash with Gryphonne Sepia
- DS
- Skull White

Dwarfrunner: as you can see, I used orange for my runner's basering. I did some searches here on TFF and this seemed to be the way to go.

Alright, I have been making some more time to do the "troll" up.

When I saw Eggball's figure I decided to make some small alterations to the figure, I just hope that they work out as I hope!

I will try and get some pictures up this weekend.

Anyone else making any progress?

I think that the "snow troll is as conv erted as I am able to make him - my skills with the putty is limited

But here is "Spazzfist" the Canadian Beaver Troll!

I was struggling a lot with the camera, so out of all the pics taken, this is the only one that was salvagable. At least it shows several of his elements. I took a basic rat ogre and what I added to him was a toque (complete with pom pom), puffed out his cheeks, add a beaver tail, and for anyone who has been to tourneys with me will have at least heard of the infamous long johns! I modelled these on, complete with the stragically placed rip and I even included the the covering jockeys. Thank you to Eggball for reminding me of that!

Will post pics of the painted fig when I get it done.

Thanks all who are still hanging in there with the Canadian Legacy Team.

I have not heard back from some people, so unless I get word back from some of you in the next little while, I am going to open up the figs to other people. Some of you have got back to me and expressed desire to do a different, fig. Below is the updated list.

The participants are as follows:

Grampyseer - Head Coach
Skaven - Apothecary
Pyttroll - beserker
SBG - beserker
Danchaput - ulfwerner
Msteriousstranger - ulfwerner
Eggball - runner (DONE!)
Dwarfrunner - runner
Wedge22 - thrower(?)
Jesse - thrower
Cramy - lineman
Greg Shelton - lineman
Bjorn9486 - lineman

Spazz - Snow Troll, lineman

Also as it stands now we are very light on linemen, so if people want to do a second model, then your name will be entered twice.

As for the rest of you, please get back to me (if you have not done so in the near past). I would like to know whether or not you are still on board, and if you are willing to help out with the lineman shortage.

If I do not hear back from people by the end of the month, then I will start looking for someone else to fill in the spots.

Thanks,

Craig

@Wedge22, sorry about not responding - I meant to and then forgot. I would still suggest going with the second thrower, better to max out the positionals - give whomever wins the team some options.

I got the Bjorn's models last night so thanks for those - I also received a lineman each from Greg and Rod at the Canadian Open, and Shadowseer2005 says that he has done up a couple of linemen, so I am going to have to do a quick look at what we have and what we need, and get back to everyone. But I think with a bit of effort we will be able to make this happen by the Q'ermitt.

Someone at the Canadian Open said that they were going to do up an ulfwerner (I believe it was Catstacker).... so if that person could get back to me.

I will try to take some more team pics this weekend, so people can see where we are at now.

Sorry I'm so late, but once I missed my deadline the fire went out under my ass. And maple leafs are hard to paint! But I did two minis for the team. A converted Reaper werewolf:

I figured this guy could be an assistant coach or an apothecary (since he brought the donuts,) but I also gave him the number 11 so he could be a lineman too. I couldn't fit the whole slogan on his cup, so it says "Roll up to WIN"

I only want the one chance to win the team, because I got the Norse lineman when I was supposed to paint it for a legacy team 6 years ago (6 years to paint, a new record for me!) and so I'm giving it away for karmic reasons.

So Spazz, let me know where I'm supposed to mail these guys. Do you want me to put grass on the base?

I am not going to make any lame excuses about why this has been taking me so long, but I will quote Catstacker: "Once the deadline passed, the fire went out under my ass". I need deadlines, and so imposed one on myself for this weekend. I have just finished basing the models I have, and will get some pics up by tomorrow.

We have the following:

1 head coach

1 apothecary
4 x linemen
1 x ulfwerner
2 x blitzer

2 x runner

I am going ot be painting up the last ulfwerner, and if anyone else has anything that want to contribute (we could still use more linement) then let's make the deadline for the one day tourney in Montreral. So you have about a month to get anything else done. The draw will be done in that time.

We have the following:

2 x blitzer

since all we need is 3 more linemen, why wait? Do the online number/email random number selector thing for those who have entered it. I mean are we really going to wait for 3 linemen positions? Whoever wins if they want a full 16 roster can paint the other 3 themselves. If I won I'd only use it for tourneys anyways, so a 16 man roster would pretty much not be needed.

The winner of this long overdue team is:

<drumroll>

Catstacker!

So Isaac, if you choose to accept this team, then PM me your mailing info and I will have it out to you the next day. If you do not want the team (just submitted models for the fun of the project) then that's cool, just LMK and I will send it to the number 2 picked.
