Hi to all my fellow individualists!

Remember, we're not Numbers, we're Free Men! Rolling Eyes Laughing

just thought i'd start this thread off; so we could all introduce ourselves & get to know one another before we meet everyone else on the BB Boards!

please introduce yourself (location, experience etc) & lets discuss teams & tactics...

getting ball rolling:

tiamo69, 41, Burton on Trent GB.

played in a couple of tournamnets, average results (something like 2 wins 2 draws & 2 losses seems to be usual, depending upon how silly i play!!)

not sure what race to bring but have 10-15 to chose from!

Travel & Accommodation arrangements...

just to add, made no arrangements yet but will be cheap & cheerful.

could be a good idea for both individual teams to bunk in same location to help promote 'team spirit'...?
(& also add to social aspect of tournament...)

& we need to consider Team Names...

Hi,

This topic is a good Idea.

I am Lord Bojo, 33, Bourgoin-Jallieu (Near Lyon), France.

I have played several tournaments since 2005 with average results.

I can play several races. I have already played some races in NAF tournament (http://www.thenaf.net/index.php?module=NAF&type=tournamentinfo&uid=7539) and more during leagues.

Of course, the team names should be changed.

If there's a free spot in the individual team, a french coach called Toblerona (ID 15500) will be interested. I will tell him to send payment as soon as it will be confirmed.

Are Flyingdingle and Onechiquita willing to become teamcaptains?

Due to linguistic difficulties I've switched two players positions.
This will mean Team one became more Italian, Team two became more French.

If you want team individual 1 to be completely french, you can switch me with Clamoroso, who is Italian.

But if you want both teams to remain a little international, no problem, I speak a little english and will be glad to play with italians and americans. Wink

Hello, Solomon here(flyingdingle).

I wouldn't make me captain. I registered as individual since I'm hoping to come, but can't make any guarantee's yet. I didn't want to miss out if I can pull it off. At the moment, it's looking good that I will make it, but i won't be able to say for sure till maybe August.

Woodelves are a no brainer for me. I've played them with stellar results a few to many times Smile

Lucy;

i don't mind who i'm with...
(although would probably prefer Italiano)

my french was very good but has hardly been used for 20 years!

& my Italian is very basic (poco) but my mother in law can sort that out for me & being surrounded by Azzurri will give me an excuse to learn & practise more!!!

it's going to be educational!!! Shocked Rolling Eyes Laughing

I'm not really sure for "very good captain", but the captain checks the rosters and maybe represents the team when the orgas need to give instructions. I suppose I can do that.

Hopefully, the way the teams are mixed now, everybody will be happy. If not, It could be necessary that a draw needs to be done.

Hi!
Here I am to make the introductions and give my rosters' choices. Wink

I'm Sebco, I'm a froggie (but I don't play Slanns), Blood Bowl is my favorite game from a long time ago now, I love playing table top tournaments but generally play only 5 or 6 tournaments a year as I also have to take care of my 2 young daughters.

My favorite roster is orc but I can play another roster if someone else really wants to play orc. I would only want to know that a few weeks before the tournament to have time to think about my skills' choices. Wink

Hi Chiquita;

1st of all, i'm no 'power gamer', so i won't be looking at playing Wood Elves, Skaven, Dwarves or a tooled up 4BOB/Bltz Orc lineup.

I actually wanted to take Flings to WCII but w/out being able to induce Deeproot & possibly Puggy; you're onto a hiding. Gobz could be fun but you'd just end up playing 9 games of trying to foul all your opponents positionals of the pitch... & where's the fun in that...?

Don't want to bring (F)Undead but am tempted by Necros...
Could play 4 Blitzer + Ogre Human line up
or try hand with either Amazon or Norse ...

Chaos Dwarves, Chaos Pact or even plain Chaos all have possibilities...

so, i'm undecided but looking to have fun primarily & not lose too many matches. My tournament mantra is to try to win more than you lose or at minimum, try to acheive a 2W/2D/2L over a 6 game tournament...

a lot depends upon what the team (players & captain) want from WCII?
I'll play accordingly...
Tiamo69 - Apr 05, 2011 - 12:10 PM
Post subject: just a suggestion...?
just a thought that came to me today...

how many individual players (team 1 & team 2) play either Legendary Edition BB or FUMBBL?

we could always set up a 'fun & friendly' mini league to give people the opportunity to get to know one another 'on line' & playing BB before we all meet up in November...?

Chiquita appreciate it may be hard to link up with you on line but, i'm sure if peeps wanted to, we could schedule things & make this work...

Also, lets put heads together over accommodation, as per my earlier thread, we should eat, play & drink as a team! Laughing
Sebco - Apr 06, 2011 - 04:17 AM
Post subject: RE: just a suggestion...?
I own Legendary edition BB (I got it as a BB tabletop tournament prize) but my computer seems to be too old and I can't play with it. That said, I could play on FUMBBL I suppose. Why not?

Concerning your roster choice, I personnaly don't mind if you play a weak roster. By the way, our team won't win the tournament! Wink

And I want to let you know that I have almost all the existing teams painted (I only don't have Underworld and Chaos Pact ones but can mix minis from my other teams to set them) and can lend them to you (or any other coach from our team) if you want (in case the problem of not having the painted minis could stop you to play this or that roster).
Tiamo69 - Apr 06, 2011 - 05:35 AM

Merci Sebco

I can actually field around 18 races myself too... Laughing

the Skaven & Dark Elves aren't painted yet, but would be by the time WCII comes around; however, i wouldn't bring Skaven & Darkies, although fun, don't really appeal (i've got a big hangup over AG4 players!!!).

with the skill selection before G1, G4 & G7 (inc possibility of 2 doubles before G4 & G7); i'm very tempted to bring Pact to the Party...

alternativley, as WCII is in Holland, i'm also tempted to field my 'claret & blue' Human Team 'Damn Rotten Villains' in memory of my football teams greatest ever acheivement, back in Rotterdam in 1982!

just like Villa did against Bayern, we might cause the occassional upset! Very Happy

My only goal is to not be field cleared so I'm glad to hear that we're not going to be a team of crazed power gamers.

I have never played on FUMBBL. I need to take a look at it...

Glad to see some team mates on here chatting it up.

I had to book my hotel because of the horrible US $/Euro exchange rate so I'm staying at:

That said, it will be possible to have team group evenings (talking about Villa and Bayern... Very Happy ) and to reach our different accomodations late in the night! Wink

Tip from a new Blood Bowl player. I have always liked the game but never found a local group. So, I bought Cyanide's game. It was giving me the same issues as you on my 10 year old PC. Although my video card does not meet the minimum, I was finally able to go into the options and set everything to minimum. Make sure you also set the sync rate to 60 Hz or you will get a lock-up. I can now play the Turn by Turn mode, at least. That is all I wanted it for, anyway. My Mac is way newer and as soon as I get a dual-boot on it, I will try the real-time mode.

I'm certainly no powergamer and just joined a league to get some more experience. I hope my other teammembers aren't too dissapointed but I play the game mainly because it is fun Very Happy
My main team is Norse but I also have a painted Dwarf team (I found out reading the other topics they are very powerfull; apparently not when I play them).
Unpainted I have an Orc and a Human team but never played them but I'm willing to paint them before november if it is in the team's interest.

As I already live in the Netherlands I won't be staying in Amsterdam but will travel home for a good nights rest; only after I have joined my team for dinner and drinks after a long gaming day (if applicable).

just checking in, not been around much & gutted that i missed NAF Champs last wkd due to double booking an event in Feb :O(
(only been last 2 years, with reasonable results 4/0/2 & 3/2/1 last year)

got a couple of UK tourneys to play before WCII & after playing a few games with my Humies, think i will take 'The Damn Rotten Villains' (just need to double check TV/Rules etc). Played Team at TV105 prior to NAF Champs with 4Bl, 1T, Ogre, just 1 wimpy Catcher & linos & seemed to work a treat, especially the 4 blitzers...

Humans won't set the world cup on fire, but i'll have fun, especially if Ogre manages to turn up for at least 75% of each game...

I am taking flyingdingle's place
Daloonieshaman - Dennis - old - POWERGAMER Rolling Eyes - California
I Run the West Coast Quake, played in a few events
I play to play, I have no problem fouling (in fact I encourage it if the exchange is good)
I will either take Gobbos or Chaos Pact
I am a tad below average with Goblins due to streaks of bad luck. (Yes ending 14 of your turns on a failed dodge roll with goblins is a bad streak. (Zlurpee VI game 2 and my high elf opponent was still held to 3 TDs)
I can beat any team with goblins if we both have average rolls.

Chaos Pact is a cool team and I have played them in a few events (hmm not in the league yet?)(I was thinking CP just to almost guarantee and average for the team)

I can make my mind up later. Input wouldn't Hurt
I am the Zlurpee Bowl IV Stunty Champ (And hopefully to be the Spike's)

I am getting ready to book my flight/hotel and I found a package for $1100. Slight problem is I would have to figure out the bus/train as it is a tad further than a long walk away from the event. (It is a double room if one of you has not booked yet)

replied to your pm.
good to have you on board & another California to join Chiquita!

no need to decide what to play just yet, get to play a few games with the Pact & see how they feel...

i would've taken Pact but want to play Tourney with Humies (will be an Ogre, 4Bl, 1T, 1C & Linemen roster) just cos i've got them painted up in Aston Villa colours & our greatest achievement took place Holland, up the road in Rotterdam...

so, kinda makes sense to play them in World Cup...

good to have you on board...

2 Yanks
2 Francs

We are all red/white/blue

If we were to go so far as to get shirts, (all the same)
online Names on back (numbers optional)
Country Flag on left sleeve
real names on front left breast (and any league or tournament affiliations)

Nay. One French, one Brit, one Nederlander, two Americans and someone who may or may not be Italian or French. Pas de problème. We will burn that bridge when we get to it. You do understand Dennis that people will automatically assume that you speak French if you start posting in it. And if you do really speak French, WHY AREN'T WE PLAYING OUR GAMES IN FRENCH? Très bien, Sebco. Seeing as there are no objections, you can be wood elves. Mais où est Polo64?

We need to know who your teamcaptains are.
Teamcaptains have a lot of responsibility during the tournament.
First and very important: Teamcaptains will be the only ones who can enter all team specifications on the WC website.

At the moment, Random and Daloonieshaman are considered teamcaptains. We need to hear (in the next few days if possible) if this needs to be changed.

Hi !

I will happily fulfill the free spot Smile
in consequence, i will have to quit the referees team.

Introducing myself in few words :
I am a French coach of 31 years old who plays since 1998 with some downtime .Wink I play league vis-à-vis since 2006 in the "Azes association" and I participated in several tournaments in France with average results (Lutecebowl, each Rugbowl...), as you can see on my Coach Page. Wink
Fair play, I play with all the rules and i expect my opponents to do the same.
In tournaments, I enjoy playing chaos dwarfs Smile

Done! As a real teamcaptain I would like my teammembers to be happy Laughing so I will play Dwarves; Sebco can play Wood Elves and SirSebstar Norse.
I never played Dwarves at a tournement but everything has its first time.

This evening I will sent a PM to the members of our team.

DJ

edit: I have sent the members of indiviual team 2 a PM; maybe I have mixed up some names but all should hev received an email (or the same email twice; sorry for that!).

edit2: When sending an email to Polo64 I get the message "no such user exists" but he is in the memberslist! does anyone know Polo64 or knows why I can't PM him?

The NAF member list on the menu on the left isn't the same as the forum menulist (above the forum) - iirc you have to sign up for the forum, and if a coach doesn't do that, you can't PM them.

Hi, I'm interested!
NAF # 17382

Info: My name is Jasper, and I'm Amsterdam born and bred. https://fumbbl.com/~the_Sage
I think 'Individual team' sounds a bit contradictory, but we should do fine.

I just started playing Blood Bowl in January this year, but got really hooked (netted >1 game per day since then) and am doing pretty well so far. Of the four tourneys I entered, I got kicked out of the first in round 1, the second in round 2. The third tourney I won (BUBBLE 2011, 5 matches, 4 wins and 1 tie), and in the fourth tourney I came in 5th (Lustrian Challenge: FUMBBL, 128 players, 3round KO -> swiss -> semi's: tiebreaker points kept me from going to the semifinals. grr!)

I'm primarily a dark elves coach and would greatly prefer to play them (think that should work), though I also have skaven (ok as well) and flings (umm, yeah... no.). If delves and skaven are taken, I can play a borrowed team if needed (I could work with any other elves (guess welves are taken, so high or pro)).

Oh and the 'no skill stacking' rule sucks!

Polo 64 hasn't activated his account on NAF forum so it seems he can't write messages here. But he wrote me on Euskal Turnover website (this is his league website) that he would want to play necromantic. So here we are:

DrunkenDwarf (captain): dwarf
Polo64 : necromantic
Tiamo69 : human
Sebco : wood elf
SirSebstar : norse

Hi everyone,

My participation is confirmed: I guess I'm now a member of team 2. Huzah! =)
Since it's not taken yet, I'd like to play dark elves.
As I live in Amsterdam, I was wondering whether the rest of the team would like to drop in at my place for a drink one night? Thursdays would make most sense in terms of getting to know eachother, but of course we shouldn't be too hung over for the tourney. ;D

Welcome the sage!

Concerning your project of having a drink with the team members on thursday night, it's too soon for me to confirm now. I will arrive by plane on late afternoon, I will have to meet my french and swiss bloodbowl mates to return to the place where we will sleep, so I'm not sure now.

Concerning your roster, here we seem to be now:

DrunkenDwarf (captain): dwarf
Polo64 : necromantic
Tiamo69 : human
Sebco : wood elf
SirSebstar : norse
The sage : dark elf

Uptill now I had reactions from Sebco, SirSebstar and the_sage.

Hmm, just realized there's no amazons on the team? To be honest I think they'd kick ass at this tournament.

No skill stacking means there's no tackle mighty blow for most opponents, and no tackle mb po for anyone.
However despite no skill stacking, amazons can start with 7 blodgers or 4 blodgers with a bunch of guard and mighty blow. They're able to take more blodgers when skilling up, and they are affordable enough to keep a solid bench. Sounds like a winner.

If no-one else wants them I suppose I might switch to 'zons, but I'm very much an elven coach (have little to no experience in dense positioning and caging). If someone who does often play dense races is interested, though, I think it would have excellent odds of success.

PS @Seb might be a bit confusing as we have Sebco and Sebstar.

INDIVIDUAL TEAM TWO

I have entered the teams; I have not yet received the team names from SirSebstar, the sage and Polo64.
More importantly: we are still listed as individual team two; does anyone of the teammembers know a proper teamname (or just a name.....don't have to be proper).

Hi dudes,

On Thursday night (17th) I'll swing by the FF Fields meeting to pick up my pre-ordered field.
If we're meeting for drinks that night, I could bring yours as well (it's only 2* 15 minutes by bike; back in a jiff).

So, could you let me know:
A) whether you'd like to come for drinks that evening.
B) whether you pre-ordered a field and would like me to pick it up for you.

Looking forward to the tourney!
Group name: Would prefer debt over old world, but like my suggestion too. =)
