Post subject: Challenge of Q'ermitt VIII - April 27th and 28th
The Challenge of Q'ermitt VII
April 27-28nd, 2013

I am going to be posting a link with full rules later, but here is a quick recap of the rules for the tournament:

*All teams will be created to a maximum value of 1,250,000.

*Teams must be created using the rules of the most current LRB (I.e. the C.R.A.P. rulebook)
*Players may not spend more than 150,000 on skills (see detailed rules under team creation)
*Goblin teams (not Underworld) may take bribes at a cost of 50K
*Halfling teams may take the Master Chef at a cost of 100K
*Star players may be purchased during the team creation phase at the listed cost

It will be a League Style tournament
As a league style tournament all aspects of league play will be implemented, SPPs, cash, etc.

Team creation
Please see the full rules for team creation in the "Comprehensive Rules" section in the tournament rulebook. Follow the link, starting with my signature at the bottom.

Remember also, that Star Players may be purchased at the time of team creation at their listed cost. They can be improved through accumulation of SPPs through tournament play but will have a pre-set number of SPPs that they begin with, depending on how many skills they would have already gained.

Any Star Players that begin with a team DO NOT have the Loner skill, as they have been playing with the team since their rookie days.

There can only be one of any given Star Player, so the first coach to tell me (through PM) that they are wanting to buy a particular Star Player will be the only one who can purchase that Star. I will be updating this first post as time goes on to indicate whichStars are no longer available.

Sorry, was posted in the tournament section, but not here. Tourney location is same as last year - the Spazz Cave! 84 Dunlop Court in Brampton, Ontario.

There is space available for people who wish to crash, but bringing your own air mattress is highly recommended!

It's just not going to be the same without you two! Crying or Very sad

How about throwing out some smack? For old time's sake?

Important Reminder

When constructing a team be sure to read the full comprehensive rules which can be found by clicking on the link on my signature below. Most importantly, you have 150,000 gp to buy skills, but every skill after the first one is bought at an extra premium.

Don't know what I'm talking about? Read the rules.

Sign me up Spazz....the reigning and defending Q'ermitt Champ is here!! I will be returning to stomp a hole in my opponents again and again. I almost feel ripped off a little from last year as that chump from Niagara thought he was on my level of destruction. That's right......Greg or stinky rat whatever you call yourself. I the casualty champ is going to show you how it is done Again!!!

In the meantime, I will be training my team of death and destruction so they are ready! Are you up to the challenge little boy? Whatcha gonna do, when the Purely Tanked come after you?

Unfortunately, the defending Stunty Cup champion will likely not be able to return to defend his title. I am hoping to make it, but its very unlikely right now.

Spazz, I will make sure the "prize" for the next Stunty Champion will make its way back to you.

Going to try and make it there this year. Not 100% sure yet with the possibility of the job getting in the way (year end is April...damn!!!) but Pat and myself were talking about getting a group together in Montreal to head on down. Been too long since I got to play at the Q'ermitt.

Hey how do we know which position a star player replaces? Some are obvious but others aren't at all, especially when a player will work for multiple teams.

They are listed in the pdf file. Spazz there is an old one in the link on your forum sig, maybe upload the more recent one.

I am going to be setting up the trophies in the next week or so, and need to know a couple of things:

1) How many people are planning on bringing custom boards? I know Natsirtm is bringing one, but I would like to see more than one if I am going to give a trophy for it.

2) Smack talk? There has been nothing! This is a fun one to earn! Just make some noise on the forum, talk it up! Need inspiration? look to the smack that Eric, Rod an Laurent got into last year! Between photoshopped photos, re-written songs and UFC posters, the smack was tres brilliant!

For anyone who is reading the rules that are attached to my sig - thank you! But the re-roll that is offered at the end of the rules, is not longer being offered, So please do not construct your team with that in mind!
Spazzfist - Mar 12, 2013 - 01:30 PM
Post subject:
And for anyone who is considering buying a Star Player for their team, please check the first post for what is no longer available.

Zara the Slayer was just snatched up.

Free reroll!
Who wants one?

All you have to do is email me your final roster before April 20th. Once this is submitted, there may be no changes.

Anyone who does this will receive a special reroll token that may be used ONCE DURING THE TOURNAMENT. Please note that this is not once each game, but once in all five games. Once use it is gone.

Rosters can be emailed to spazzfist@gmail.com

It was commissioned but it is unusable in current state, but I will not be putting in 8-10 hours on this thing if you refuse a trophy.

Well what is involved in the 8-10 hours work? I just have a moral objection when tourneys give out trophies for best painted and the like when the coach receiving it is not even the one responsible for the creation.

Honestly I don't really care that much. I got this board and the dugouts need fixing, I need to figure out latches and handles for transportation because its a monster and it's incredible awkward to carry and I need to fix every single + between squares because they are raised and many of them mean a normal base can't fit and using a big guy is impossible.

It pissed me off so much I just left it in the basement. I thought bringing it to q'ermitt would motivate me to fix it to the point it can at least be used but if that's a big deal for you than whatever... From what I recall most of the current pitches have been collaborations with people assisting so I don't really see much difference to be honest but it's your tournament and if it's a big deal than I am just as happy not to put effort into something that is such a sore spot for me anyways.

"CHALLENGE OF Q'ERMITT"

Must have misread a thousand rules...
Been haunted by a frenchman's ghouls...
I can hear the splashing feet...
They're moving under the street!

Rob, did you read the rules today...
They say the frenchmens gone away...
But I can see your team is still a-fright...
Gators out of your sight!

Too many rules...
Too many pitches...
Making too many problems...
And too much french confusion...
Can't you see...
This is the CHALLENGE OF Q'ERMITT!

This is the board we play on...
And these are the rules we're given...
Read them and lets start trying...
To make it a board worth winning on!

Oh Spazzfist where are you now...
Everything's gone wrong somehow...
Dwarfs of steel, might and power...
Are sinking below by the hour!

This goblin swamp...
Gators are here...
So we look to the rule-book...
But there's too much french confusion...
Help me Spazz, this is the CHALLENGE OF Q'ERMITT!

This is the board we play on...
And these are the rules we're given...
Read them and lets start trying...
To make it a board worth winning on!

-music-

I remember long ago...
I was on a volcano...
Volcano fight...
Rules were a fright...
And the sound of your accent...
Earth tremors all night!
So long ago...

-music-

I won't be standing up tonight...
My chaos dwarfs fall down with might...
Frenchmen reading rules again...
And again we fall down deep!

This is the board Rob plays on...
And these are the rules Rob's given...
Give up the frenchmen's reading...
And you will see you can win it all!

This coming from the Moses of Bloodbowl Wink At your age do you need bigger pips on the dice to read them?

And besides it took Talons like what 8-9 years to acquire his only tourney win and it was only the CoQ.

So it took Talons almost a decade, but he has finally a firm grip of Spazz's CoQ !

I was asked if a team needed to spend it's full treasury prior to the start of the first game and the answer is NO.

If you wish to hold on to some of your treasury and bank it, then that is up to you. I cannot imagine why people might want to (except to grant inducements), but that is up to you if you wish to do so. Any unused gold pieces will be banked and remain in your treasury for future spending.

Grant I know you know all about support, I understand you always seek the grand wisdom of a former champion to build your rosters. Without the support this Champion gives you, who knows how you'd be able to fair. But I totally understand the reason you seek this great leader for support, he is only the 2006 Spike Champion.

Important Announcement regarding the Stunty Cup

The Stunty Cup will be on again this year, and as always is capped at 8 players, with a minimum of four needed.

The Stunty Cup is played on a sudden death format, in that the first TD scored in any game is the winner. The winners of the first four games go onto a four-way Stunty Deathbowl! Winner gets the trophy!

But now for the important part!

Big thanks to Tristan for pointing out the updated Stunty Rules from FUMBBL that reflect the latest LRB. They can be found here:

http://www.talkfantasyfootball.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=38082

The teams for the Stunty Cup should be taken from that list. Also, for the first time in Q'ermitt Stunty Cup history BIG GUYS WILL BE ALLOWED

So to recap:

1) New rules for Stunty teams
2) Big Guys are allowed
3) Spots still available! Reserve your place now! First come first serve! (by PM)

Q'ermitt Announcements - Please Read

1) Lunch

Lunch will be provided both days of the tournament. On Saturday I am ordering a giant sub from Subway which will be a cold cut combo with lettuce and tomato wit sauce on the side. Sunday will be pepperoni pizza. If you cannot eat this, then let me know in a PM and we will try to work something out. The idea is, that I do not want people leaving for lunch, as this can potentially delay the next game.

2) Saturday Night
After the last game finishes on Saturday (around 6), then the only thing left that night is the Stunty Cup, drinking, and boar games. Would people be interested in going to Wild Wings for dinner? If there is enough interest, then I will book a table.

3) GW and game Purge
I am going to be getting rid of some stuff that I have been holding on to for a long time, and have either not played or even looked at in years. Some will be free (Axis and Allies, Risk, wrestling DVDs) an some will be for sale (e.g. Warhammer Fortress, an complete 40K ork army, complete WFB Skaven and Night Goblin armies). What does not sell here, will go on Ebay, but I thought I would give y'all the first crack at it.

Many people have been getting their teams in to me for early checking, an this is very much appreciated! Please keep them coming!

See you all in a few days!

His NAF name is malbra, and his real name is Brandon Mallett. I think he is playing Human.

Well that was quick.

His wife works midnights till 7am Saturday, so he can not go now.

Ok he is now back to a possible maybe.

And finally a confirmed no, again, unless it changes, again. Very Happy

Important

In previous years I have given a slight reward to the coaches who show up on time for each day of the tournament. This year, it will be no different.

Coaches who show up by 9:00 a.m. on each morning of the tournament will be rewarded with +1 Fan factor for each day.

Well, It is with a very sad heart that the reigning and defending champ must bow out of this years qermitt. I am very frustrated about this as I was hoping to show that last years dominance was no fluke. I hope you all have an awesome weekend, I wish I was there but alas work is getting in the way. Keep me updated on the happenings and I hope to see you all soon.

With the new job, the wedding plans, and just plan chaos in my life......this may be a very slow year for bloodbowl!

What a great weekend! Thanks Spazz, for hosting as well as coordinating. The league style format gave you a lot more to keep track of and I think you did a great job. Thanks again to my five opponents. Thanks for being great sports when the dice went good for me and shit for you and visa versa. Each of the pitches I played on created unique and fun challenges. I'm looking forward to playing on more of them next year. Thanks again!

Agreed on it being a great time! The boards (which I'd never played on) were a ton of fun. Added quite a bit to each game for excitement -- especially the bread crumb trail on turn 8 that allowed Gord that 1TTD. *shakes fist*

Thanks to Spazz for hosting, and apologies to all my opponents for that amount of leaping I did. Wink

Not all the trophies change from year to year, only some (if any)

Yeah, it is cheaper for me when I do not have to change them from year to year. Stunty Cup is fixed, as is the most TDs (otherwise this year it would have been a Dwarf - which does not exactly scream "most TDs"!)

But having said that, I might be willing to change up the TDs and CAS to represent the race that won it. It is a good idea.

So if my Chaos ever win most Cas, we will see a blockhead of Cock 'N' Balls?

Ah, I see. Right, right. I guess those "designers" would want money for the work they do. No need to change them up, they look great just the way they are. Besides the stunty cup blockheadz would look kinda weak as a 'me-ple'.

Can everyone who attended please shoot me a quick email so that I can have all of your email addresses? I want to send out a survey about the tourney, in hopes to improve it for next year.

If you know that I have it, then no worries, but if you're not sure, send it anyways!
