BloodBowl comes stomping back for another year at Origins!
Coaches come kick, claw and stomp your way to the Champions ring.
Last years' winner had an unbelievable run. Can you do better?
This is a three game, Swiss-pairing tournament using a special themed Kickoff Table(detailed in the document available at the URL below).
Injuries and casualties do not carry over: Each game will begin with your roster in exactly the same state you created it.

ALL 24 NAF Approved teams are valid and welcome!
We'll also be accepting Brettonians and Daemons of Khorne for those brave enough to play them!
Teams can be built using up to 1,100,000gp.
Coaches may choose to buff their teams based on the Tiered structure stipulations as detailed in the tournament rules document.

Con Registration now open at http://originsgamefair.com

The schedule, all specialized rules, inducements and the unique Kickoff table can be found here:

Welcome back for the SECOND year!
I wanted to thank everyone for for getting us off to a great start last year.
There are several new things to talk about for the tournament this year.

There's tweaks to the rules set which should liven thing up a lot for coaches new and old!
I'm also welcoming in two new Races into the fold for the bashing mayhem.
I'll be going into each of these things in detail right here! Keep your eyes open here for more!

I'll be at Origins this year as well, and plan on playing in this tourney.

Question: Will the use of Humans as proxies for Brettonians be allowed? All players will be clearly identifiable.

if you're up front with your opponents and the models are clearly identifiable then I see no reason at all why not. Bretts ARE humans, after all.

I look forward to seeing you there and how the Brets do in the tournament. I've only seen them on the PC game to date.

There are a few things different about the tournament rules sets this year.
There aren't a great many differences but they are important ones.

Team/Roster creation
Coacheswill now need to have eleven players before hiring a Star player.
The Tiered roster creation has given a lot more freedom for coaches and we honestly expect to see fewer star player choices because of it anyway.

Which Tier are you hanging from?
There's a new Tiered team creation system we're using this year.
All indications are that itwent so well and much more smoothly that expected.
There's absolutely no reason why we shouldn't be using it for both our tournaments and so we're doing just that.
Build up those teams for the benefit of every player or stack on the skills to make your very own homemade Star player!

COACHES! PLEASE BE AWARE!

GAMA has (once again) messed up the event listings.
The Saturday Tournament Start time as listed in the Event Grid for Origins shows 10am as our start time.

THIS IS WRONG.

Please refer to the Tournament Rules Pack for an accurate schedule
Check-in : 8:30am
Game 1 Kick-off: 9:30am

Do you know EXACTLY what sort of havoc you're going to wreak on your opponents?
Have you had your roster prepped and ready since January?
Why not save yourself some time and get it to us before the convention?

Feel free to send us your team rosters (complete with your name and NAF ID & # if applicable) and we'll get you in the lists so that all you have to do is show up and curse NUFL for the dice results.

COACHED PLEASE BE AWARE

Due to the incorrect times listed for the Tournament event there may be Timing/scheduling conflicts in the Registration system if you are participating in other events at the convention.

WE WILL ACCEPT GENERIC TOKENS as entry fee into the Saturday event to work around this issue.
Just sign up for your events for the day/weekend normally and show up for check-in Saturday morning with Generics in hand.
Thank you.

I'm getting pumped for this event!
Still trying to decide on team. Orcs or Chaos hmm.

Curious if there is a typo in the game scoring section. Looks like game results are - (negative) points and bonus points are + (positive points)
I suspect most of us are reading around that but I wondered for a second if it was some weird and unique incentives system.

Also noticed Fowling vs fouling - minor issue but I carry the rules forward from year to year on my events too.

● Game Scoring will be
â—‹ -30 points for a WIN
â—‹ -20 points for a DRAW
â—‹ -10 points for a LOSS
● Additional points will be considered for the following:
â—‹ +5 points if you won by 3 or more Touchdowns
â—‹ +2 points if you won by 2 Touchdowns
â—‹ +2 points if you lost by 1 Touchdown
â—‹ +5 points if you caused 2 more Casualties from Blocking or Fowling than your opponent
â—‹ +2 points if you caused 1 more Casualties from Blocking or Fowling than your opponent
â—‹ (Note: Only Casualties from Blocking or Fouling without use of the following will be counted for this purpose: Stab, Stakes or any Weapon in the Extraordinary skill box)

Yup, ya caught me and my lack of proofreading. Mockery will be acceptable and endured for the sake future iterations.
The aforementioned '-' symbols were used by me habitually during this years' re-write as Bullet Points and not intended as minus signs.
My apologies.
Other spelling errors are pure laziness and I stand proudly behind them.
(but thank you for letting me know for correction)

No worries man. Blood Bowl is all about the minor mistakes that we both hope no one notices and pretend were part of the master plan!

How many players usually?

I'm trying to pull some of my on line league colleagues to come out.

Rock on! I love how inclusive the community is.
This being our second year there is no 'usual' as yet.
There were Eight coaches last year. I believe there will be more this year based on the commenst/questions/feedback I've received. I'm trying to remain cautiously optimistic about numbers. This should be a good year for growth.
My other tournaments pulled 15-17 coaches in the second year but only NUFL knows.

- 517 is all the way to the back RIGHT of the hall - Look for the big "SGG" Banner

1-1-1 final results with a great time with some wonderful opponents. Particularly my first round opponent Mike who gave me a loss but also a great game.

I continue my NAF record of 0.500 with Orcs which tells me I should probably have taken something else.

great to finally meet. Equally great to have you play.
I hope next year doesn't have so many day-of Drops...that was just weird...

and I'd say 50% with Orcs is a good start... just need to catch NUFL in his green mood

How many drops did you have?

Interestingly I set up the day before on free table and retaught one of my old Blood Bowl buddies how to play. We had 4-6 people stop by and say they loved Blood Bowl all were surprised to hear there was a tournament. But there is so much going on at Origins I can understand how you would miss it if you weren't actively looking for it (like I was.)

That's far more random people stopping to talk to us then any other game we played on free tables over Origins. There's a big crowd of folks who've played but aren't playing now/didn't know there was an event who I wish I could have recruited.

I think being very hung over on Saturday didn't help my Orc record but that first game loss was hopeless early (I think I had 3-4 pieces off in the first two turns - 2-3 as casualties)

There were 16 pre-registered tickets sold (but GAMA doesn't exactly have a sterling record for logging such things accurately..so, grain of salt).
Eight of you showed up with bells on rearing to go.
There were two others whom I know were supposed to attend(they are local League members)
One person stopped by to apologize and turn in his event ticket anyway then wandered off
One other fellow stopped by to drop off generics and then just...didn't play

just...bizarre

I've had this happen a lot to me over the years at tourneys, conventions and even just playing at a local gaming store.
Someone or lots of folks wander up and point with wide-eyed glee, "Heeey! Blood Bowl! I used to/love that/remember when..."
It's awesome and encouraging especially when someone has their kids with them.

I try to restrain myself from pitching they get back into the game TOO much....most of the time...
but it's also why I keep spare boards/teams on-hand...just in case...
..yea...just one roll....one game is all... it takes no time at all, you'll see....

wait...isn't think how you're supposed to do it?
(not the Casualties bit, of course...)

16 preregistered+2 planning to come and only 8 showed. Some just turned in tickets and then left? Too much disposable income I guess.

I have to admit there was so much going on I was feeling a bit conflicted about playing Blood Bowl (which I love ) when there felt like there was so much I still wanted to see and do. I guess that may have been what happened to folks who pre registered and then didn't show.

In our local league I have had 4-5 guys ask to be on the distribution list of emails and say they are excited to join the league and then never show up or even respond to emails.

I think at the rate casualties were coming off in that first game I might as well have played my Goblins.
