Brewhouse Bowl 6!

Brewhouse Bowl is BACK for a 6th year after a long pause.

Not all Blood Bowl tournaments in the Old World can afford to offer glittering prizes and fame to entice big name stars and famous teams. Outside of the capital cities, where Blood Bowl is just as popular, promoters and organizers have to find alternative methods of tempting teams to come risk life and limb for the fans' enjoyment. They offered feasts hoping to draw Trolls, which always seem hungry. They brought in herds of sheep to attract Beastmen and Norse Berserkers (who are both rumored to enjoy a snuggle with the wooly creatures). But what they found worked best of all was booze! Blood Bowl players love a good drink, especially after surviving yet another life-of-death encounter on the pitch.

The Brewhaus Bowl is a Blood Bowl tournament, in it's sixth year, that mixes games of traditional Blood Bowl mayhem with rounds of Brewhouse Bash, a unique one-off GW game printed in WD magazine in the 90s.

Rules for the Bash game have been revised and will be posted.
As the game was originally created by gw staffers as a fun goof around game there are several loop holes and unanswered rules questions. We have play tested the game over the past year and will provide copies to coaches on the weekend. Please still do familiarize yourself with the basics so we can launch into the first round without too much confusion.

DATE:
The 2022 Brewhouse Bowl will be held on May 14th, 2022, and will be 4 games over the course of 1 epic Blood Bowl day.

TIMES:
Saturday 14th
7:30-8am: arrive & check in to receive swag, dice , etc
8am: Kick off round 1 asap
10am: Bash round 1
10:30: Round 2
12:30: Bash 2
1-2pm: Lunch break
2pm: Round 3
4pm: Bash 3
4:30: Round 4
6:45pm: Awards
7pm+ Dinner & extended hangouts/gaming at the venue

COST:
$30, additional $5 for non-NAF members going towards NAF membership sign-up.
-Includes custom BHB dice, raffle tickets, custom BHB marker & much more.

TOURNAMENT:
- Swiss-style match-ups after game 1.
- Bash rounds after game 1, 2, & 3
- Tournament points are W/T/L - 3/1/0
- Tiebreakers opponent score, strength of schedule, bash rounds won.

- Too many players on the pitch will not be called as written throughout the tournament. Call for TO assistance if needed.
- The 4 minute turn limit will not be specifically enforced throughout the tournament. There is however a strict time limit of 2hrs for each game. At the 2hr mark dice must stop rolling, regardless of even turns.
-Dice cups, trays and towers are not only permitted but encouraged.
-At the start of game Coaches facing off are encouraged to define for their game how to handle cocked dice and dice which escape from dice cups.

TEAM BUILD:

Each Team has a total of 1,150,000gp to spend on roster creation and must hire a minimum of 11 Players. Any GP unspent at roster creation are lost and all Teams are considered to have the same Current Team Value (CTV) for the purpose of inducements and prayers to Nuffle.

This is a resurrection tournament, no SPP are gained, and injuries, casualties or deaths do not carry on from one game to the next. Players added to a Team roster mid game as a result of the Masters of Undeath or Plague Ridden special rule are removed from the roster at the end of the game and do not carry on to the next.

Inducements:

The inducements Permitted are star players (including those in the most recent Spike! Journal), Halfling Master Chef, bribes, kegs, and riotous rookies. Wizards, special play cards, (in)famous coaches, and other inducements are not available for purchase.

*Star Players 0-2 have a tax of 2 primary skills per star. : Star players can be purchased as part of a roster of ten players (do not need 11 rostered players before hiring a star). :Highlander Rule: In the case that opposing teams hire the same star, neither team will be allowed to use the player. “ThErE CaN OnLy Be OnE!”

Tiers & Skills:
Tier 1: 6 Primary Skills or 4 Primary Skills + 1 Secondary Skills
Chaos Dwarf, Dark Elf, Dwarf, Lizardmen, Orcs, Shambling Undead, Wood Elf
Tier 2: 7 Primary Skills or 5 Primary Skills + 1 Secondary Skill
Amazon, Human, Necromantic Horror, Norse, Skaven, Underworld Denizens:
Tier 3: 7 Primary Skills + 1 Secondary Skill or 5 Primary Skills + 2 Secondary Skills
Black Orc, Chaos Chosen, Imperial Nobility, Khorne, Nurgle, Elven Union, Slann, Tomb Kings
Tier 4: 8 Primary Skills + 1 Secondary Skill or 6 Primary Skills + 2 Secondary Skill
Chaos Renegades, High Elf, Old World Alliance, Vampire:
Tier 5: 8 Primary Skills + 2 Secondary Skills
Goblin, Halfling, Ogre, Snotling

- Stars cannot be given skills.
- One player may only be given a maximum of two skills.
- Each skill can be given to a maximum of two players per team (so 2 Guard is ok, 3 is not).

BASH Rounds:
- Coaches will select a different player from their team roster for each Bash round
- The same player cannot brawl more than once as local authorities have been made aware of rowdy players smashing up pubs in the area
- Stars cannot be given skills even if they win a bash round
- Each pub will aim to have 5 players in it if possible
-Each pub will produce a single winner that will be able to select from the rewards on a first come, first served order to encourage fast play and quick thinking.
- If player won previous BB game -1 to heath total, as they have been drinking their faces off in celebration.

- The winning brawler(s) will receive permanent skill additions for the remainder of the tournament:

- The winners of round 1 will be able to gain one skill from the agility skills.

-The winners of round 2 will be able to gain one skill from the strength skills.

-The winners of round 3 will be able to gain one skill from the general skills.

Details of the updated Bash rule set will be posted soon.

BHB6 dice arrived just in time for the 2020 date.

unfortunately we were not able to hand them out for obvious reasons.

BHB6 2021 will see a fun double down on dice for all participants...

I am really looking forward to having a great BASH with all of you next May.

We are hovering around the 25 coach mark...looks like a great group so far. I am happy to share that the BHB champion will be able to take home a fully painted NAF Champ Shield. Bill from Phoenix Games & Hobbies is painting it as we speak and also donation to the prize table.

House Keeping items about our venue:

-unfortunately there is no outside food or drink allowed in our rented space. management said outside food or drink can be consumed in the front lobby lounge area where there are several tables and chairs to choose from

-for lunch there are many quick and quality options within a 5min drive from the inn

-alcohol will be available for purchase at the front desk, generally they have Molson products but the selection does change. At time of posting they have MGD, Canadian, Coors lights, Belgium Moon, and Heineken. They are priced at $7.00 per bottle

-there is no outside alcohol allowed in our rented space (no such rules apply for your room if you are a guest of the inn, or the trunk of your car -Hamm wink*)

-we have the room from dawn until midnight Saturday so anyone is welcome to stay and play board games after BHB6/dinner

-although we have the room all day we will still be trying to stick to the schedule as closely as possible to respect people's travel plans. 4 games in 1 day can be a real challenge for some and we want to make sure the day doesn't drag on unnecessarily due to games not finishing on time (Hamm! *wink)

-masking and hand hygiene: vaccine passports & masks are not required at this time, we will have masks and sanitizer on site, please self screen and only join us on Saturday if you are feeling well

-we can't wait to welcome you to Brewhouse Bowl! we are excited to see 10 returning coaches from the 2019 event & over 10 first time Bashers. let's have a great one!

HUGE Thank You to all the coaches that came out for Brewhouse Bowl 6. It was a memorable return after such a long pause. It was great to see some old friends & meet so many new coaches. Sorry again for the sauna conditions because of the broken AC and thanks for the feedback about the new venue. It was so great to see the room full of BASH madness each round. We had a blast hosting and we hope you enjoyed the day.

A coach contacted me to say that they are missing their 2020 rule book. Please check your bag and let me know if it got mixed into your stuff by accident. The room was empty when we cleaned it out so hopefully it got picked up by someone and we can help track it down.
