Hello ladies and gents!

I'm going to take part in a one day tournament in a few weeks and am seeking advice on build and tactics. Anything you can share will be gratefully received.

I don't have much experience and have only played about 15 games in total - mostly with Skaven and Orcs.

Tourney details:

Budget 1.1m

Skills: each coach can choose one of the following three packages to stick with throughout tourney. The upgrades are free and don't count towards Team Value. No model will upgrade throughout tourney.

1. Choose two players, one can upgrade either S or AG by one point, the other can upgrade M or AV by one point.
2. Give one normal skill to five players and one double skill to one player.
3. Give two normal skills to two players.

My team is chaos dwarves and I've never played them before :-S

I've come up with two possible builds. BTW, The teams I'll likely face are: Lizards, Norse, Orcs, Skaven, and maybe Humans and Dark Elves.

Also, there are no permanent injuries or deaths. Team will be fully replenished in next game. Apothecary can just move someone from dead to reserves.

Using the second skill package:

Bull Centaur - Sprint, Sure feet, thick skull + Block 130
Bull Centaur - Sprint, Sure feet, thick skull + Break tackle 130
Dwarf - block, tackle, thick skull + claws (double skill mutation) 70
Dwarf - block, tackle, thick skull + guard 70
Dwarf - block, tackle, thick skull + guard 70
Dwarf - block, tackle, thick skull 70
Dwarf - block, tackle, thick skull 70
Dwarf - block, tackle, thick skull 70
Hobgoblin + Sure Hands 40
Hobgoblin 40
Hobgoblin 40
3 rerolls 210
Apothecary 50
4 Fan Factor 40
1.1m

I like the idea of having six dwarves as they're pretty tough. Not sure about 4 FF but since we won't accumulate any during the tourney, perhaps it's a good idea. Could buy another Hob for the same amount and keep him in reserves.

or

Also using second skill pack

Minotaur - Horns, Frenzy, Mighty Blow, Loner, Thick Skull, Wild Animal 150
Bull Centaur - Sprint, Sure feet, thick skull + Block 130
Bull Centaur - Sprint, Sure feet, thick skull + Break tackle 130
Dwarf - block, tackle, thick skull + claws (double skill mutation) 70
Dwarf - block, tackle, thick skull + guard 70
Dwarf - block, tackle, thick skull + guard 70
Dwarf - block, tackle, thick skull 70
Dwarf - block, tackle, thick skull 70
Hob + Sure Hands 40
Hob 40
Hob 40
3 rerolls 210
1 Fan Factor 10
1.1m

My main concern with second team is that my two guard dwarves will likely be stuck supporting the Minotaur as he doesn't have block. On the other hand, it should be quite deadly with the mighty blow on the Minotaur and Claws on the Dwarf.

Please let me know what you think. Any advice you have would be great.

Thanks

There's always a duscussion pro or against a Mino. At the end it's personal taste. For the first roster, remove the FF and get another hobgoblin. AV9 on the dwarves sounds high, but you'll be surprised how vulnetable they are. The skill choices on the Bulls is standard, the only debatable choice is the Claw on the dwarf. Me, personally, I'd be ok, but I think hardcore CD coaches would probably advice to another guard on the dwarf and ignore the double
