These are some pictures of my 2nd Edition Skaven -- I've been working on them for years, and they're my crowning jewel in my collection. Please let me know what you think, and if you'd like to see more pictures of the rest of them:
I've got a bunch more pictures of the rest of the team, including some conversions I've done, but I still need to crop out the background. The colors are a *little* brighter than the minis, due to the flash, but it's pretty close -- the whole team is pretty brightly colored.
Note that I painted the tops of the bases flat black, which improves contract and visibility on the field, and colored the sides of them according to the old 2nd Ed "color rings" to show position. It helps my opponents, many of them who haven't seen the older minis, to be able to say "Yellow bases are Gutter Runners, red bases are Storm Vermin, white bases are Throwers." |

Nice..I've got a full set of 2e Skaven that I keep meaning to get around to painting sometime. Did a Thrower in Underworld Creepers colours for the TBB painting contest we had a while back. Eventually I'm gonna do enough Gobbos to fill out the roster, so they'll be 'dual' purpose. Be cool to have a tourney ready 2e skaven team. |

Very nice. Good color scheme, and I have always liked the color coded rings to identify positions. My favorite figure is the 2ed skaven thrower. That helmet rocks. |

Why did you crop out the background?
I find it very hard to see the detail when such has been done.
Cheers, Good work! |

Sweeeet! I might steal the colour scheme of your 2nd thrower's ball... By the way, why is the Rat Ogre's base green on top? |

I like them, especially the coloured base rings, but I personally think a mini that isn't based just looks unfinished. Your painting & scheme are very good though
send me any pictures you like, I always like nice painted minis (to steal the colour schemes )
mail me at david.candlish<at>convergys.com (replacing the <at> of course!) |

Why, that's our mascot! (Actually, I was originally going to attach a cape to him and make him a Stunty Gutter Runner, but then we erratta'd that combo out of existence.)
I cropped the background out because it was my dining room table, not exactly the kind of thing to put fear in your opponents. These smaller images were designed to show up as player pictures for my website, which is another reason why they've been outlined some and had the background removed (so they'd fit better with the site.)
I do need to work on the bases, but I'm not especially good with bases, and I'm hesitant to risk screwing up the paint jobs I've done already. The Rat Ogre needs to be rebased, preferably on one of the new large round bases.

Well done! I am a big fan of coded bases as well. Speeds up game play. |

These are great! I too use second edition figures. I have a complete team of elves using second edition figs, and most of my dwarf team is made from the plastic dwarves from the old Krunch game I picked up at a yard sale years ago. To differtiate the players on my team to fit with 3E rules, I added horns to most of them to make them long beards, left two without horns as runners, and bought some WHFB longbeards with axes to convirt into blitzers and a WHFB troll slayer. It all worked out rather well, I think. Of course, my painting job isn't anywhere near this good, but I likes 'em.

For all those upset with the lack of backgrounds, here are a couple minis straight from the original photos. All I've done with these is crop and resize a little -- no contrast changes or editing whatsoever.
