Definately it's an original color scheme, and I like that (the originality, I mean.. I'm not a big fan of red as a color, but it's ok ).
The only dbt I have from those photo is: are the minias as brilliant as in the photos or it's just the light you were using? Maybe aren't you using too much transparent color over them (if you're using it, obviously )?
I ask you that becouse I saw at the DungeonBowl a skaven team very well painted, but it was too much brilliant.. and the minias were more similar to plastic toys than to an aggressive and dirty skaven BB team...
If, at the contrary, they're like the first one you post, they're ok (in my opinion only, obviously ) and I would say "go on like that!" |

Well they are definitly gloss after having the varnish applied but the Blitzer had litterally just been sprayed a min before and it was still very wet. The flash on the camera does tend to cause a lot of glare off the model and in the flesh they look ok.
As the team is wearing armour plates and leather boots I don't think the gloss finish looks out of place.
I've had a bit of a mad painting session last night and half finished 3 more (2 line elves and a blitzer) If I can gather the motivation I might be able to finish them tonight, that would put me back on shedule to get them finished for the Bloodbowl (only 2 more weekends!!)
I also still haven't finalised the team I want to take to the BB, so I've got to paint an extra couple of Blitzers and a Witch Elf 'just in case'
At least once I finish the next 3 I'm 1/2 way though.
edit- oh and the pipex web server keeps going down so if you get red x's it isn't my fault |

Looking good! It's definately coming across as a nicely painted, coherent colour scheme - I'm looking forward to facing off against them.
As far as getting them finished is concerned, just be thankful you only have 11 players on your team... |

I'm hoping that some green flock on the bases will help bring out the red more, currently they don't stand out enough
Any more pics of your Skaven to look forward to Mike? |

I was going to try a mix of flock and static grass. bit of an experiment (I'll try it on a spare base first) anyone else tried it? |

Looking good, and nice colour scheme. It's good to see some DE's not in Purple and Blue. |

Well here is the finished team at last. Just in time as I'm leaving for the BB straight from work tomorrow
horrible picture but it is dark outside and I've only got a desk lamp for light. I'll take some better ones after (or during) the bloodbowl |

I thought the same thing when I painted my team the same color!
I was burned out on every other color, and I hadn't painted lots of red in a couple years. |
