I agree with the food costs. Andrew and I are lucky that we (a) have family to stay with and (b) Mum buys us stuff to makes lunches with! Otherwise there is no way we could afford Cancon, not when it's nearly $100 just to enter.
On the plus side, Leaviathan is much cheaper, nudge nudge, wink wink. LOL
I agree with the MOAB thing. Great atmosphere, much more reasonably priced food and entry and GREAT hotdogs! |

Guys, I ran wargames comps at CanCon for more than a few years - the discussions I had with CGS re price, services, hot dogs and their treatment of players and others led me to believe that they really don't care. At least it is not as bad as it used to be! They still don't care, and will charge us like a rat ogre, but at least we have aircon now ...
However, all that said, it is the biggest convention in Aussie, so I guess you have to discount quality in favour of quantity sometimes. I still think it is the players and Commish that makes the comp work for me - so three cheers for Babs and lets all start saving for next year?
Oh, yeah - Babs, I can't let your remarks re Melbourne only winning 'cause you don't play go past without comment .... Mellbourne has proved its clear superiority ... but we would like to see you field something anyways! |

I'll let you feel comfortable and smug for a while... and then I'll strike! |

Quite a few of the Fantasy tourneys are starting to get into that price range. Mind you, those are generally held in the air-conditioned confines of a nice club. CGS definitely has a checkered history. |

Certainly. If I moved Blood Bowl into a different venue ran at the same time & city I wouldn't get the same crowd. There's something to be said for the stalls. |
