Hi all,

I'm newish to this site, but have been playing BB for a long time now (all the way back to 2nd edition), and have just joined up to a league using LRB 5.

I've had a look around the NAF, and have noticed there are only a handful of playbooks for teams for LRB 5.

Now surely there must be some people out there who can coblle together a playbook for their preferred team, for the enjoyment of the rest of us?

I intend to do a Goblin Playbook at some point, but want to get more than a handful of LRB 5 games under my belt before I do so, based on what works, and what doesn't.

Also, I've noticed there doesn't seem to be a lot of chatter on these boards, given the number of members in the list. Is there a reason for this?

I've also been searching the web for decent LRB 5 playbooks, but haven't found many. Does anyone have any good links?

Cheers for now,

Nestyr

Hi Nestyr

Appears that there are a few sites that people visit rather than just the NAF site.

Here is an Australia one : http://ausbowl.com

They have a stratergy area on the forum where you will find what could otherwise be termed as playbooks.

Same for this site (older but still relevant in aspects): http://www.blood-bowl.net/
Also has alot of great reference material

You going to be at Cancon for the blood bowl tourney?

Cheers.....

Try TalkBloodBowl. www.talkbloodbowl.com. Lots of chatter there about tactics with different teams, although no playbooks per say. Do a search in the TBB forum, and you will find threads discussing LRB5 Goblins strategy, including which Secret Weapons to use when, and how.

Also try the specialist games web site. www.specialist-games.com. There are some playbooks there, but not for all teams.

And as mentioned above, www.blood-bowl.net has some older playbooks that are still relevant to some extent. Go through them and see what it means for LRB5. For the most part, they are still accurate.

Good luck.

I know that Hangus (NAF Library Editor) has been compiling a selection of playbooks recently. Maybe PM him...

There's a half decent one on Orcs in here Smile

The Library is having a bit of a revamp. I have some more stuff to put in and will announce it soon.

IMO the first stop for playbooks http://bbpb.de they even tell you what edition the game was in when the article was written.
One of the big reasons I think you don't see more people post play books, is because of the negative reaction on a lot of forums to peoples coaching ideas.

Hi all,

Thanks for your responses - I found alot of these myself, but the changes in LRB 5 make a lot of these strategies out of date to some extent.

I appreciate the help.

Cheers,

Nestyr

The NAF Library is still very new but it will hopefully be a great upto date resource for new and experienced coaches to sit (quietly) and read articles on many topics concerning all things Blood Bowl.

Please call back later in the month and hopefully I will have some new (and some old favourites) things for you to look at Very Happy

To the original question, we are building up exactly this sort of playbook library.

I asked Hangus to join the NAF team as he has good media skills and he has asked a number of top coaches to write them. Of course, people need time to do them! I guess it would take six months to a year to get the strategies all covered and to a point where you could take time to write it etc. But they are on the way and I personally feel this is just the sort of thing we should be offereing NAF members.

When I saw this thread, i thought it was gonna be about Plays/ Formations.
"Wow, someone else as Whacked as me putting up formations!!!" Razz

I guess not, but here is some of the defensive craziness I collected...

All these defensive formations have the same mistake. NEVER place your players that aren't on the LoS just one space far from the LoS itself. That would let your opponent block them in case of Quick Snap! on the KickOff Event.

Personaly I think that the third of the left column is the best one with every race. Just move one squadre closer to the centre the players on the second line, in order to avoid being pushed into the crowd by a franzy player and you obtain the defence good for all seasons.

Surely, you can do something different, more specific for each race, but this one I personally think is always good, no matter what you're playing, what your opponent's playing and who your opponent is.

I know about the Quick Snap routine, but depending on what team you are setting up. Dwarfs want the opponent in their TZ, so they can tie them up.
In some of these formations, if you back off one square, it is an easy one dodge and the opponents is in your half.
"Quick Snap", 1 out of 11 results on that chart, isn't that super bad of odds. I can live with that. Matter of a fact I do live with that, well in tournies. Our home league uses a Home made Kick Off Table. Much better in my opinion!!!

So, what's the problem having them one square in your half? Bettere them one square further, but having more players on the field to block them instead having them one back and just a few defending, isn't it?

If your league doesn't use Quick Snap you cannot give advice to others without telling them that. Personally I played many tournaments and I always felt this type of defence is always good.

We do have the Quick Snap in our Kick Off Result Table.
http://www.bampf.com/store/bloodbowl6/kickofftable.pdf

On my Formations, I prefer the 1st column, #4 - at the bottom.
