at what point are you committed to an action?
Player 9 activates and declares a Block action against opposition player 11
oops, opposition player 11 has a higher str. Let me:
Change the attack to another opposition player?
delay the action of player 9 till the coach can bring in more assist?
eat it and take the 2 die opposition picks?

what if you declare a blitz/foul/pass/handoff and then not do it with that player can you save it for another player later in the same team turn?

Strict reading of the rules requires that you must carry out the action once you've declared it. But you don't declare a target, and you don't have to perfom all the steps in the action. So you can declare a Blitz Action, start moving, realize that that gobbo is in fact a troll (oops!) and stop moving without throwing a block. Or just change direction and block a different goblin.

However you have used your Blitz Action, you haven't turned it into a Move Action by not throwing the block.

It is normal practice (in my experience) to not hold a coach to a particular action until the player has been moved (e.g. changing a Pass Action to a Hand-off Action after recounting the pass distance). And sometimes, even then you might be allowed change your mind, so long as no dice have been thrown. Once dice are involved, there's no going back.

Once the dice have settled there is no going back in my opinion, unless you are a real wanker of a coach!

I have had people declare an action roll the dice, and realize in mid throw that it is a mistake, and before the dice have stopped rolling beg to undo their move. I, not being a a wanker, generally allow it.

I follow the two following rules.
1) If dice have been thrown, can't go back.
2) If you have activated another player, the previous player's action is over. No going back.

In my league though we have a couple of players who only play once a month, and they often forget the basic stats of players, and the rules for skills that we haven't used very much. I give these guys a break on a regular basis.

If I play against Spazz though, no break. Razz

i'm with spazz its once the dice have rolled

at the wc i had an opponent who uses a dice cup asked if it was ok to pull out of a move before they had revealed the dice ..they hadn't seen the dice so its fair to me.

Once you've rolled dice no going back. Other than that I'm fine to go back as far as we can both remember.

Strictly speaking once you've declared the action with that player you can't go back, but you don't actually have to make a block as a part of a block action so can always choose to do nothing if your opponent is a #)*(*%^ who won't play nicely.
