Mainland Bowl: 6th-7th February 2010, Christchurch, New Zealand

Venue: Woolston Club, 43 Hargood St, Woolston, Christchurch, as part of Christchurch Wargaming Societys Warclouds over Woolston. Format: 6 games of Blood Bowl, 3 on the Saturday, 3 on the Sunday. Registration at 8:30. Games will begin at 9:00, 11:30 and 2:30 on both days. The first 5 rounds will be round robin following the Swiss system (no overtime), the last round will be a finals round (1st vs. 2nd, 3rd vs. 4th etc.).

Overtime (a third half) will be played in the final round (only) if games are tied after 2 halves. Golden TD will apply (the first player to score in overtime wins the match). If the match is still tied after overtime, a dice-off, to be witnessed by the organiser, will decide the winner.

Within the constraints of the Swiss system, the draw will be seeded at the discretion of the organiser (to limit, for example, games between members of the same club). However, in later rounds, especially on the second day, it is unlikely that any seeding will be applied.

Points will be awarded as follows for each of the first 5 games: 10 for a win, 5 for a draw, 2 for a loss by 1 touchdown, 0 for a loss by 2 or more touchdowns. There will be no bonus points for casualties and/or touchdowns, however, these may bring prizes and/or confer bragging rights, as well as being used to break ties. Tie-breaking after the 5th round will be as follows: total points of all opponents, failing which TD difference, failing which CAS difference, failing which TDs scored, failing which CAS inflicted, failing which dice-off.

Ruleset: Living Rulebook (LRB) 6 (we will be one of the first tournaments in the world to use this ruleset). All 21 teams from LRB6 are eligible, plus the 3 experimental teams (Chaos Pact, Slann, Underworld Pact). Teams must consist of appropriate metal or plastic figurines (no cardboard) of proper size, must be clearly distinguishable and numbered, and must be adequately painted (minimum 4 colours including base).

Roster choice: coaches have 1,250,000 to spend on their roster (or TV 125, if you prefer). All inducements may be purchased except for Star Players and Special Play Cards. Other inducements may be purchased (including Babes, Bribes, Master Chef, Igor, Wizard, Wandering Apothecaries). You may purchase one normal (non-doubles) skill for each player on your roster at an additional cost of 20,000 (or TV 2). You do not have to do so.

Re-set: this is a re-set tournament. You start each match with the same team roster. Injuries and Star Player Points are not carried forward to the next match. You do not gain skills between matches. Your roster should therefore be chosen with care. Please bring a neat hardcopy of your team roster (ink please, no pencil) with you for checking at registration.

NAF: this tournament will count for NAF rankings. Coaches who are not NAF members already may join the NAF at the discounted rate of NZD15. This is strongly recommended.

Billets (accommodation to deluxe Beast of Nurgle standard) may be provided for out-of-towners by Christchurch Blood Bowl players (yes, even to Australians). Please ask.

Cost: tournament entry is NZD20, payable in cash on registration on the Saturday.
