This Question came up on the WCII thread.
I thought someone might like to nerd it up with stats on the number of coaches on each continent.
We cannot just count pages for countries in the rankings section as this will not control for multiple rankings by the same coaches.
Enjoy! |

i could make a script that would interrogate all the ranking page but it can be result a massive sort of "attack" to the NAF server.
If someone (Dave, Lycos... I don't know) can make the extracion or can send me the DB i can give you all the statistic you want |

Number of NAF members does not equal number of active tourney going coaches. The latter is the main (only?) consideration for the location of a future WC tournament IMO, and indeed even a subset of that group in number of coaches who have previously travelled abroad for a tournament.
For example, Yorkshire boasted about having the largest BB league in the world. with over 100 coaches. I set up a tournament in York partly as a way of getting some of those coaches involved in the tournament scene. So far I have had a grand total attendance of 1, 0 & 1 at my three events from Yorkshire League members. Many of them are NAF members, but it seems none of them fancy a tournament (even a one day one) in their backyard. Holding the WC 2015 in America might be great, but it is also very possible that many Americans won't attend even if it is on their doorstep.
Of course, we could do a FIFA and award the WC to "developing nations" like Quatar to boost the game's profile. |

Do it in Canada. You'd might get around 50 on the West Coast(Seattle/Vancouver area) if it's a WC NAF event. |

We will get together with Extreme and whoever is on the east coast and do a N.A. Cup. Depending on location/time of year/cost I think we could pull close to 200 |

Many people (at least here in austria) just join to get some orginal BB blocking dice, suppose this is similar in other countries. |

I agree with Vegas as possible destination for WCIII. But according to the numbers we might have to think about having it in Australia!!!!!! It will be summer. |

This is the way you are going to get the world cup.
If you run a team event that pulls in over 150 guys from all over America, then all of a sudden, the NAF can see there is the demand for the world cup to come over there.
I think the main worry for people for having it in the US/Canada, is that you only get 10 teams from north america and because the European following will drop (for the same reasons you cant get alot of teams over here) we get a world cup of under 200, that isnt what people want. |

would love to though not sure I can justify vegas twice a year what with the world series of poker as well
I imagine august is a better time to have a tournament as well, all the teachers are off on holiday, it is a cheaper time of year in vegas as well (due to the heat) and they have a peak in June/July at wsop time
great place to have a blood bowl tournament though imo |

Maybe we should consider a NA team competition in 2012/2013 to prove the concept works and that we can get 100+ coaches together for a NAF tournament.
It almost does not matter where in the Continent it is as there are many coaches on both East and West Coasts so some will need to travel anyway.
(by does not matter i mean, someone will be upset and someone will be happy wherever we host it, I smell a bidding process:) )
Perhaps we should start a thread for this in the North America Section, oh, as if by magic:
