Hello everyone, let me start by saying that I've been playing various Games Workshop games for years but only in the past couple of weeks began collecting and playing any blood bowl. I joined the NAF as soon as I found it and am very happy and excited to be here!

I decided on orcs because I had heard they were a good beginner team and I relished the conversion opportunities that they represented. I've thus far converted 4 Blitzers, 4 Black Orc Blockers, 2 Line men, a Thrower, a Troll, and various Grots.

I've been reading the CRP rulebook and listening to the beginner, and Orc strategy episodes of 3 Die Block to help prepare myself for a league that will be starting up at the LA battle bunker at the end of this month, which I plan to participate in, and tonight I picked up the Cyanide Blood Bowl xbox game to try my hand at a few matches.

I really like the mechanics of the game but I'm having some serious trouble. I have no idea what to do with my first turns of movement.

I like the idea of playing an attrition style team but when I'm on defense I struggle setting up good blocks in my first few turns. I've been scored on early and often by fast teams, and beaten up by some seriously tough dwarfs.

On offense I'm not sure if I should be spending my first turns setting up blocks, or trying to cage up to move the ball down field?

The bunker has specialist games night on Fridays and the league starts on the 29th, so I'll hopefully be able to get some face time with a few veterans and get some serious practice in before we move into the league, but any advice you could offer on a good roster, and some opening strategy would be much appreciated. Thanks!

My suggestion:

For a good conversion(s), the original box set Orcs' hands combine with Orcs or Orks you decide use.

"Cut, Saw, Snip - File, Smooth out - Pin, Glue!!"

From the Original Box -
The Blitzers have a great Gauntlet hand to glue onto an Orc.
The Black Orcs have awesome Brass Knuckles to use.
The Thrower's hand holding the ball is also fantastic to convert an Orc to match your team.

Other great Bitz to use.
The WHFB Black Orcs' box, great for Black Orc Players for your team.
** The Iron Gauntlets are amazing for converting stuff. I have used them for Black Orcs of course, making Blitzers or LineOrcs into Mighty Blowers, Good for Trolls to convert over and I have used the gauntlets for my Ogre team.

Enjoy!!
