I need to know what is the max distance on the Short Pass. We play 7 I have been to a tournament that they play 6. I would just like to know because I plan on playing a team with throw team mate.

Use the range ruler. Passing chart is not in the rulebook. Wink

The cart we have shows S as 7 spaces. Where did you get this cart.

I know the chart is not in the rule book. The question is what is the farthest you can toss on range ruler for a Short pass. I know to use the range ruler. I need the range rule read and interpreted as to the farthest a Short pass can go.

quietdominator its the same chart as on the pdf I linked

the one that shows you can go 7 squares was incorrectly made

if you put the range ruler onto the pitch you will see it is only 6 squares, the entire square needs to be within the range band, even if a tiny little bit of the square is over the range band line, then you use the longer of the two ranges

so for a short pass, it is 6 squares

Yep, I just checked and the chart the league has been using for *cough* years was incorrect due to the miscalculation of where the Short/Long Pass range line was.

I'd never noticed it myself when I was running the league since I always used a range ruler when passing. Looks like a job for the League Commissioner (or his delegated powers minion) to fix and update the reference sheet we've being used. Wink

no real harm done ;]

though sounds you may have been at a slight disadvantage from using the range ruler, of course you only pass when you're losing as they say on the tournament scene here!

Wait this is a game of odds. Passing on a 2+ with pass with a receiver catching on a 2+ with catch is better odds than a 2D block with a re roll. Even close to a 3D Block. I like to pass with those odds.
Now my Ogre tournament team is going to be a lot more difficult to get away with and we have a Halfling league team that is going to suffer quite a bit. Funny how much one square effects the game.

Thanks for the info.

it sure is, but that's why you also don't block with the ball carrier if you can avoid it

a 2+ handoff with catch is even better odds!

there is more to the game than just pure odds as well, a 2+ gfi and 2+ hand off is the same odds as a 2+ pass 2+ catch, fail the gfi and your player falls over and could die which can't happen if you fail a pass, however failing the gfi could likely scatter the ball from a much safer square than fumbling the pass could...

positioning is key to success just as much as odds are

never rolling a dice involving the ball carrier is way safer ;]

Oh I agree. Not having to roll the die is always a better situation to be in. If you can advance the ball keeping it safe and go all the way down the field with out a die roll that is great. But that also means your opponent forgot to show up for the game as well. Especially if you do it position after position. lol.
