It's getting close to 2 years until the World Cup 3 and just want to find out if there is any news on what's happening so we can get planning over here.

Any sign yet of the bid document going public? I'm keen to look at this 84 page monster!

Hi Babs -

I think the Italian bid is very smart indeed. They have piggy-backed on the Lucca Comics & Games Festival (3rd largest such fair in Europe - 270,000+ visitors), which is the previous week. They are using the same pavilions, and, if the press reports are accurate, the tourney can/will cater for 1,200 coaches (by way of comparison, Amsterdam had 480, although this did not meet demand). It sounds like Lucca is a small town that is proud to host an event like the BB World Cup, quite different to a big city.

I think it will take a lot of smarts and a few rabbits pulled out of hats to get the WC to the antipodes. Not impossible, but by no means easy.

All the best.
