Brewhouse Bowl: One (Shot Too Many)

Not all Blood Bowl tournaments in the Old World can afford to offer glittering prizes and fame to entice big name stars and famous teams. Outside of the capital cities, where Blood Bowl is just as popular, promoters and organizers have to find alternative methods of tempting teams to come risk life and limb for the fans enjoyment. They offered feasts hoping to draw Trolls, which always seem hungry. They brought in herds of sheep to attract Beastmen and Norse Berserkers (who are both rumored to enjoy a “snuggle” with the woolly creatures). But what they found worked best of all was booze! Blood Bowl players love a good drink, especially after surviving yet another life-of-death encounter on the pitch…

The Brewhouse Bowl is a new Blood Bowl tournament that mixes 5 games of traditional Blood Bowl mayhem with 3 rounds of “Brewhouse Bash”, a unique one-off GW game printed in WD magazine in the 90s.

Rules can be found here: http://rpg.by/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=15120

DATES:
The 2015 Brewhouse Bowl will be held on the weekend of May 30-31, 2015, and will be five games over two days (3 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday).

LOCATION:
Just By Chance Games
http://www.justbychancegames.ca/
465 Phillip Street #13
Waterloo, ON N2L 6L7
(519) 804-0468

COST:
$25, additional $10 for non-NAF members going towards NAF membership sign-up.

TOURNAMENT:

- Swiss-style match-ups after game 1.
- Bash rounds after game 1, 2, and 3.
- Tournament points are W/T/L - 3/1/0
- Tiebreakers will be strength of schedule followed by TDs scored.

- Illegal procedures will not be called throughout the tournament.
- The 4 minute turn limit will not be specifically enforced throughout the tournament. There is however a strict time limit for each game. If an official believes that a game will not be completed within the allotted time they may enforce the 4 minute rule.

TEAM BUILD:
- 24 NAF sanctioned teams are eligible.
- Teams get 1.1 million gold to construct their roster.
- Star players can be purchased as part of a roster, but only after 11 roster players have been purchased. (In the case that opposing teams hire the same star, both teams will be allowed to use the player. )
- Teams must play with a minimum of 11 players.
- Teams can purchase Rerolls, apothecaries (if allowed), coaches, cheerleaders or fan factor.
- Teams may also include bribes as part of the roster as per the standard inducement cost.
- Chefs can only be purchased by halfling teams.
- No other inducements may be purchased (including wizards, cards, extra apothecaries, mercenaries, etc).

- Teams can select one of the following skill packages:

- 6 regular skills OR,
- 4 regular skills, 1 double skill OR,
- 2 regular skills, 2 double skills.

- Stars cannot be given skills.
- One player can be given one skill.
- Each skill can be given to a maximum of two players per team (so 2 Guard is ok, 3 is not).

Bash Rounds:

Original rules set can be found here: http://rpg.by/index.php?act=Attach&type=post&id=15120

- Coaches will select a different player from their team roster for each Bash round
- The same player cannot brawl more than once as local authorities have been made aware of rowdy players smashing up pubs in the area
- Each pub will have 5 players in it with T.O. filling in if necessary.
-Each pub will produce a single winner that will be able to select from the 3 rewards on a first come, first served order to encourage fast play and quick thinking.
- If player won previous BB game -1 to heath total, as they have been drinking their faces off in celebration.

- The winning brawler(s) will receive permanent bonuses for the remainder of the tournament:

- The winner of round 1 will be able to gain one fan factor, add a cheerleader, or assistant coach to their roster for free for the rest of the tourney.

-The winner of round 2 will be able to add a bribe, babe, or wandering apothecary to their roster for free for the rest of the tourney.

You say that, until you play me Grant. I am unleashing the full fury after the debacle at CCKO.

Ones that regular people would take....so block, dodge, guard etc, not fend, jump up or those weird ones. Right?

Would love to make it out for this, if there is no Sweetbun Tourney in MTL the same weekend you should be able to count me in! Looks like a lot of fun, if I may mention one thing as it appears you already corrected the 6 games vs 5 games I saw earlier Razz

With your skill packages: the value seems to decrease slightly with each option, wondering if that is intentional

6 regular skills are worth 120K
4 regular, 1 Doubles worth 110K
2 regular, 2 Doubles worth 100K

In my experience if the values differ in the options you give, most coaches will almost always go with the highest value option and will create less diverse team builds. If you give options of different combinations but keep the values the same for each, several coaches will take different skill packages (sometimes including different races) and it will create significantly different roster builds based more on the coaches play style of said races. Just my 2 cents, don't care either way myself personally. Looks like a fresh new tournament at a time of year that there isn't much else going on for me!

@adam: totally fair point. going to stick with this rule set for this year and adjust based on what happens.
If we end up with a tourney of all tier one teams it will sure be an interesting weekend. lol
