Post subject: New Necro team - color scheme opinion please.  PostPosted: Jan 23, 2004 - 09:04 PM

Okay, here's the first few minis that I've been working on for a Necro team I'm putting together... The question is what do you think of the Purple/Yellow color scheme. As an fyi I will also plan on using white (on zombie/werewolf/golem jerseys).

Just wanted to know what you all think, with the stress on any ideas to help them look better.

thanks,

nice color scheme, even though I find the goul looks too "healty" for an undead player Razz

Yeah I like it. I must admit I might try something simular when I get around to doing my Raesetra Wraiths team, although I'm thinking Red and Grey.

I've got to do the Champions of Death first though.

Too many models, not enough time. Smile

I have a human team with similar colors, but your undead team is excellent.

Must just be my screen but it looks blood red (literally, not GW blood red) and yellow. But looks awesome all the same.

It's not your screen that makes it that way, it's my horrible photgraphy skills... These are the best pictures I've ever taken of a mini, but they still stink. As a point of reference to let you know how bad the color is off, the background is actually white...

I'm going to try taking pictures outdoors on a sunny day (indoor lights are notoriously yellow, and that may be my problem), but other than that, I'm stumped on how to get a more focused/color accurate picture. I'm using the macro mode, and a tripod, and 3 lights sources... though I wonder if the fact that I do seal all my minis (testors dull-cote) causes the camera to not focus...

Thanks for your input on the colors, I'll try to take a few shots of a Golem, Werewolf, and Zombie to see if the white T-shirts are up to snuff with the other colors...

I used purple and yellow for my gobbo team, and it look great. I say stick with it! Your photography skills are fine, you just need to change the light source, that's all. Using regular incandessant light (standard light bulb) will give everything a reddish tinge. You may want to get yourself a few "daylight" bulbs that produce white light, or just try to take the pictures in a darkened room using your flash as a sole light sourse if you're on a tight budget.

Thanks I'll run to the hardware store and see if I can find some of those lights, and give them a try...

I am not sure where you are, but better places to search than a hardware store are either a sewing store (the natural light bulbs are popular with folks who do cross stitch) or art supply stores. In the UK, they run about £2-£5 each, depending upon the store.

Good job bro, very unique. Going standard Undead or Necromantic? I would like to see how mummies and flesh golems look painted up in that scheme.

Looks cool...Difficult to find that balance between deathly character colours and the brighter colours associated with bloodbowl/football...

Consider that purple and yellow are complimentary colours on the colour wheel, and you can't go wrong!
