Look at the Rankings. My new friend from CanCon Paul Deacon is top of the rankings with his Chaos Dwarves.
I tried hard to make them more competitive than they were in the original rules, because they langushed down with the halflings and goblins. Guess what - now they take on humans & Orcs!
My next lobby will be for the elves......
As long as you don't lobby to tone them down...

Nice, my TR is only 160 (5-0-0 record) as we just started our league.
CD's: 2 with guard, 1 with guard and MB
Hobbo's: 1 with Kicker, 1 with Dirty Player
BC's: 1 with block and sure hands, 1 with block
Minotaur: Block
I haven't rolled doubles yet!!! Hopefully soon |

Hi Babs-
I think the reason that the CDs do so well in play is because their defence is outstanding, notwithstanding that their offence is "merely" average. The strengths of the CDs may not be immediately obvious to all rookie coaches. Certainly, many coaches seem to underestimate the "comedians".
I'm open minded as to whether the CDs will maintain an outstanding position in the rankings. I think 2 things may happen to pull them down a bit:
- Coaches will understand the CDs better, and hence will be better able to exploit their weaknesses (alas!).
- Regardless of the race they play, smart coaches may put more emphasis on defence than hitherto, for example in roster selection, playing style, or skill choice. I think that the mentality of trying to win by outscoring the opponent on offence will always lose out to the (much tougher) mentality of "I'm going to score every time you receive the ball".
Maybe we're just witnessing some sort of selection by temperament - more coaches with a never-say-die approach to defence end up choosing the CDs.
And, by the way, the CDs were not a bad side before BCs were invented.
Cheers

(And might I add that the shell-carrying crewmen from the Chaos Dwarf Earthshaker Cannon make excellent Mediks (carrying a brancard) and the pointing dwarf with monocle makes an excellent Referee...)

Thanks for the advice Martijn
So far, I have only done a couple of easy CD conversions. Buying the axewielding WH variety, cutting away the axe, and then turning the blade of the axe into a bladed gauntlet. |

My local hobby shop is having a hard time with their distributors, so even when I special order something it may not come in for weeks or months. Quite the royal pain in the a$$...
So, I just ordered them from GW online 2 months ago. 5 days later I was cutting and painting |

Yup, Chaos Dwarfs have been out of production for some time now. They'll be getting a new army book at the end of next year if all goes well. By the way, this month's White Dwarf mentioned them in a story about the new summer campaign, where Archaon's warhost are being given siege engines and weapons by the naughty stunties. They're back AND important! |
