I need to confirm with Jay, but I think the last time we talked we were looking at having it in April again.

As long as we have the attention of the Philly Pholk --
Philcon is a SF convention with gaming. It may be a good place to get some BB going. Its probably too late to organise a tourney this year, but some of you may want to check out the con and maybe add some pick-up games to the game room.

Cheers,
Maureen

I believe that Jay had a tourney there a few years back, but did not get much of a Blood Bowl crowd there.

It may be re-visiting though.

Thanks. -Rob

You're not likely to draw tourney goers from the usual crowd at a con like that, but they have a nice venue if you can bring your own folks in. There's also perks to working with these cons once you get to know how the organisation works. Some cons have comp policies that might allow tourney organiser(s) free admission, its always worth asking.

I'm still sorting things out with Arisia, but we hope to get funding from the con to pay for a really spiffy legacy trophy. Scott Lefton, a local artist who regularly shows his stuff at Arisia and who made the Hugo awards for the 2004 World Con in Boston has agreed to design and make the trophy for us Very Happy http://www.scottlefton.com/hugo-fs.htm

And partly due to the fact that so many dealers attend the con, we're lining up some good prize support. We'll have details on the ArisiaBowl site as soon as they're fully confirmed.

For luring other gamers at the con into trying BB, some open games might be good, especially if you have some of your regulars who are already playing -- that way people can see the game in action and get tempted. 7s games might be good for teaching games cause of the shorter time commitment with all the other activities at the con.

If you can get something going there next year, I'd try to squeeze it into my schedule. I know a lot of Arisia folks who go to Philcon, so I should be able to arrange some carpooling and share a room if it doesn't otherwise conflict with my class schedule.

Cheers,
Maureen

(Hopefully you don't hate that moniker too much. Smile )

You make alot of interesting points that I had not considered...we'll defiantely have to take another look. Even if its for next year to get more Skaven players at the Phrakus. Smile

I am going to run a small tournament at Phil Con this year.

With the guys in the area we should be able to get a decent turnout. Can't be worse than the last time with the 2 people I had (not including me). Smile

Yeah. The snow storm we had last time didn't help much. I think at least 4 guys didn't come because of that.

I'd love to have you again. It will probably be only 1 day though. The gaming area isn't that big here so they only want to give me 1 day. You could crash at my place for too. (With the wife's OK of course Smile)

I was planning on just 3 rounds but I might be able to squeeze 4 in. Is that too much for 1 day?

depends on how many people show up. if over 10, I think 4 games would be better, if less than 10, 3 should be good Smile

get Val working on making a cool trophy!! Smile
