Don't know if this is off topic, but I would be happy to answer any questions regarding colours or painting techniques used on this version of Ripper. The dismembered leg is from one of the plastic human linemen.
What do you guys think??

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
He's really cool, perhaps the only thing to make him better is some chipped paint on his armour. Oh, and a dismembered wood elf instead of the human leg

I've don't have the pic posted anywhere else on the net. Will just wait until coolminiornot is back up! Let me know if you're still having probs and I could email it if you really want it, it's only 57kb.

Cheers, thanks for the questions.
I used the GW black spray to undercoat the mini, and the bits as follows:
Skin - Base was Dark Angels green, mixed this with Goblin Green for initial highlights. The a Goblin Green/Yellow mix was used for extra highlights and finally more Yellow added for the stomach and ears.
Scales - Again Dark Angels green was the base colour, I found it didn't look dark enough when highlighting so I applied a thin black wash. DAG was mixed with Fortress Grey (a very light grey) for the highlights. I found it was much better than white for doing a gradual highlight transition.
Red Armour - Base used was Red Gore which initially was very dark on the black undercoat. I then mixed this with Blazing Orange and highlighted up to Blazing Orange. Then mixed the orange with white and did a couple of highlights. |

I had always wanted to try the colours you've used for the skin on my goblin team - now I know what it looks like I'll definitely be doing it like that! |

I finally made to see the mini! Awesome!
Ripper at his best shape! Maybe it's too dark for my taste, and some bright green + yellow highlighting could make him more outstanding.
Anyway, i just wish i could paint like that! |

Very kewl painting dude - and thanks for the tips, I will have a go with my next orcs.
I have been using dark angels as a base, then hitting it with green ink and then a bit of highlighting with a dark angel:goblin green mix, with detailing in a lighter mix again. Your way looks a trifle less complicated, but I am hooked on using ink - it adds lustre to the paints.
I also use white as an undercoat on brighter figures ... but thats a different debate |
