As far as I can tell The Spike isn't even a NAF registered event let alone a Major. As far as granting it major staus is concerned I'd be hard pressed to find a good reason for such status.

If we want the DB to be a Major again this year we'll need to decide soon as I'm about to ramp up the media machine for the event in the coming month. I'd make both the Canadian Open and the DB majors. The problem with switching back and forth is the length of time between events. Say for example we have the 2006 DB a major and then the 2007 Canadian open a Major. That will mean we'll have to wait a full 18 ish months before the 2008 DB rolls around before we see a Canadian Major again Shocked

Well if you had to vote one of these 3 tournies as a major SPIKE, Canadian Open, Death-Bowl? My vote is the Death-Bowl!

As far as I am concerned, the Spike! should not even be in the running right now. There is too much controversy surrounding it. The name alone should not justify a major, and we should not let GW dictate it's terms to us.

Furthermore, no disrepect intended towards the MOBB boyz, but I have trouble giving major status to a group that is running their first tournament. The Deathbowl is a proven tournament of a very high standard. The Deathbowl is a tournament that other tournaments should be measuring themselves up against.

VOTE DEATHBOWL FOR MAJOR!

ok....

i contacted gw about friday and they told me that it will not count for the spike on saturday.
i bought my ticket from gw and was told the friday games are just for fun and all teams will reset for saturday.
i think there is some serious problems between gw and the miss. blood bowl group.
so who is running the tourney... gw or mississauga bb
there is no way for me to get to toronto for friday.
man this sucks.
what is the official word on all of this

taxal

The Friday Games ARE a Part of the six game series for the Spike Tourney!!!
GW is MESSING THINGS UP ROYALLY for Me (Commish Of Da MOBB).

The rules that I posted are THE OFFICIAL RULES for the TOURNEY, and what happens on the FRIDAY is part of the tournament!! I am in charge of this and the GW reps Doesn't know that much about B-Bowl tourneys (THIS is his first year with it)

Ok, but the rules that they have for download say that you only play 3 games. So thats causing some confusion as well.

I contacted Craig Bodycote at Gw and he said the Friday part of the tourney is not going to count at all for the Spike. They are only doing an extra day for the NAF. Now with this I will still be attending with my wife
( Brie ) and two buddys. With that I hope it will go off without any problems Laughing Laughing Laughing

See you all there.

Taxal

I'm no longer drunk (for now Embarassed Laughing )

So how many games total? 3 for friday 3 for saturday?

The SPIKE is a MAJOR & its being decided with 3 games?

If this is right count me out , GW takes something good and breaks it (GW would reinvent the wheel to a square! )

Oh well, I guess I will never get my BB fix in (unless I make the Pharkus)

Rod.

OKAY this is starting to get me REALLY peeved. THIS IS THE FINAL SAY ON THE MATTER FOR ME ABOUT THIS
1) THANKS For bringing this all to my attention
2) SPIKE IS BEING HELD OVER TWO DAYS AS I POSTED EARLIER.
3) MOST OF THE PPL AT GW DON'T KNOW WHAT IS GOING ON BECAUSE IT IS BEING HANDLED BY COREY BURNS AND MYSELF. ANYONE ELSE WHO TRIES TO TELL YOU ANYTHING ABOUT THIS DOESN'T KNOW IF THEIR ARSES ARE PUNCHED, REAMED , OR DRILLED.
WHAT I HAVE POSTED IS THE OFFICIAL RULES FOR THE SPIKE.

Do I have to mention that most ppl at GW wouldn't know how to find their arses if their heads were stiking out of them??!!

The rules were agreed upon by the GW rep for this tourney and myself!

This is NOT my first tourney I have hosted before (just not B-Bowl).

I plan on making some very large corrections for the tourney next year (ie having it sta/sun for starters)

GW Rep and I have spoken about the whole Fri/sat thing and he didn't know enuff about a major tourney to properly schedule this event. I apologize for this, hopefully next years will be better

I'm still not sure that this is a major tourney. And the rules that I am referring to were the ones apparently written by you since they have your leagues logo at the top, it definatly doesn't look like something GW has done.

okay now!
That was not what I gave in!

What I gave in for the rules is what I posted to you all.
I AM going to be talking with Corey on Monday, and I will get this all sorted out.

I am now OFFICIALLY PISSED, and this matter will be looked at by me.

The Tourney is 6 games (3 & 3 as I posted).

There IS NO PRIMER, I know how a BB tourney is supposed to be held, and it WILL BE HELD in Traditional format, I will make sure of it!

This is going to be a SIX game tourney, so never fear about that.

We all know that having it start on a Friday will Fudge most people over, but there is nothing that can be done about it at this point.

Next year, things will be done much better. (like cutting GW out of it all together, if we can)

And Spike is still considered a Major tourney.
