Do you mean picking all my skills so I have them all for game 1? Or picking the progression as I will use them over the course of the tourny? |

The new idea would be that you choose all of the skills before game 1 and keep them throughout the tournament. |

I m strongly in favor of this method (all skills picked first). Though it varies from the traditional feel of a tourney being like a more controlled and abreviated league, it makes for a more even playing field, as many teams get exponentially better with skills while others barely notice.
IE playing Chaos or Amazons in the first round is easy compared to playing them in the 5th round (using the skills as you go system). |

This is similar to the way the Canadian Open was run. They priced out skills, and gave each coach 1,250,000 to work with. In my case, it ended up being the usual skills I always take, but having them from game one was amazingggg... |

Sorry to hear that Rod...I was hoping you'd be the best Canadian Coach in attendance. Ah well...
Speaking of travelling money...I have had a bit of a brainstorm. (Ouch! )
There will be three professionally painted teams available for the winner to select from. That will leave the other two still on the shelf for future events. I was thinking of having a raffle for one of the other two to help raise some funds for the US Team for next year's World Cup.
I still don't have any pictures of the prize teams, but I was thinking of selling tickets to win the team for $25.00. That may seem high for a lottery ticket, but when you factor in the price of the models and the level of the painting...the lucky winner will have a real bargin on their hands.
The folks in attendance at this weekend's Phrakus will have the first crack at this...but once the winner selects his team...I will post more information on the team up for grabs and will come up with some mechanism for the rest of the lottery.
Anyway...PM me if you are interested and I will be sure to answer once I have more information.
Thanks. -RobO
P.S. We are a mere hours away from Philly Phrakus 2006...my Blood Bowl juices are starting to boil over. (Man I'm glad I'm alone right now. ) |

Ok Folks..for those tuning in...here are waht the standings look like after the First Round games:
http://www.sju.edu/deckman/philly_phrakus/standings.php
The big first round upset belongs to Jaylazer. (Sorry Jay! )
Jay's Deepwood Falcons (WoodElfs in case the team name left any doubt.) defeat Skummy's Defending Phrakus Champion Golden Rockets.
jkarr's Woodelfs are currently at the top of the standings with the tourney's other WoodElf squad, Red Wood Warriors. Looks like there might be a East Coast vs. West Coast rivalry developing for Most Tourney TDs. (Jay has 4 TDs to Jason's 3...but there's lots of fracus Phrakus action to come.
Round 2 features the following match-ups...stay tuned for further updates.
Table 1: jkarr vs vt_dougie
Table 2: gken1 vs. MightyQ
Table 3: jaylazer vs. ranthorn
Table 4: bampf vs. skummy
Table 5: Rune_Master vs. jad |

Current Standings
Round 2 results:
Skummy and his High Elves come storming back as the Golden Rockets zoom into the end zones 5 times, and wins 5-0.
gken1 also has a nice bounce-back game against MightyQ. He manages an amazing 9th Turn (Medicine Time) TD. A Chaos Dwarf pushes it to pick up the ball, hands-off to a Bull Centaur, who in turn pushes it into the Endzone for the winning TD...all with no rerolls. (Oh yeah...he also managed 7 casualties against the Norse. )
Round 3 Match-Ups:
Table 1: vt_dougie vs. gken1
Table 2: jkarr vs. ranthorn
Table 3: skummy vs. jad
Table 4: jaylazer vs. MightyQ
Table 5: bampf vs. Rune_Master |
